Detailed Reviews
We four had the great privilege of spending one week towards the end of summer in this splendid hotel.
Everything was pretty much perfect: the rooms were sizeable, comfortable bed, blackout curtains, & soundproof.
Super to have a Nespresso machine in the room, with capsules offered & replenished daily.
Well maintained bathroom, with a bath, shower and everything else you night need, and daily cleaning and fresh bedding and towels.
Plenty of storage room, a sofa to lounge on and a balcony to chill and hang out washing to dry.
They do say the devil lies in the detail, and the hotel delivers spectacularly on this front. Adriana is set in beautiful gardens, just off the seafront, in an incredibly quiet and private location. There is ample space for guests to find a discreet corner, either in the shade of the trees or by the pool.
We found the temperature of the pool to be a little bit cold, but then again we visited later in the season, so perhaps this is less noticeable in the height of summer. Nice touches by the pool, with fresh towels and water tanks to hand.
Saving the best for last: wow… the food! We ate like kings and queens every single day, and enjoyed such splendid breakfasts and gourmet dinners. The menu changed daily, and there were options for fans of fish, meat-eaters and vegetarians alike. Absolutely delicious offerings every single time. And great wines to wash things down with.
No meal is complete without excellent service and - again - we were royally cared for by Sebastian and Pamela, not forgetting others who stepped in and worked as a team to make sure we had everything we needed.
In short, it was a very memorable stay and we offer a round of applause to each and everyone who made it so enjoyable for us!

Calm, comfort, delicious food and drinks in a beatiful location : beautiful swimming pool in a magnificent garden right by the sea where you can swimm easily but rest by the pool for the beach is stony, crowded and rather noisy.
Rooms are a bit old style but in perfect condition and comfortable.
The food for dinner excellent and refined with full free drinks and the cocktail master is at his rop!(welcome drink offered.
Definitely an excellent adress in Zadar

Perfect getaway!
We visited 1st October for 4 nights, we arrived by Uber late Saturday evening and we were welcomed by reception and shown our room, on arrival we had a selection of tapas dishes as we arrived late and had missed dinner, we thought this was a very nice touch.
The room itself was adequate, slightly dated, but clean and comfortable, unfortunately our first room was too warm and we were moved the day after to a room on the other side of the building, which was perfect, staff very accommodating in our request .
First impressions of the hotel and grounds were good, it’s a beautiful old charming building set in wonderful romantic gardens, with easy access to the warm sea.
There is one main dining hall and you are assigned a table for the duration of your stay, our main waitress Mariana was a huge asset to the hotel, very friendly and attentive, always smiling, nothing ever too much trouble and she just came across a very happy genuine lady who clearly loved Zadar and her job.
The food is beautiful, fresh, local, varied, heathy and plentiful! As a vegan I did not struggle to eat and they catered so well for me for the duration of our stay. The drinks are also very good quality, particularly the red wine.
We visited the sauna on a few occasions and were very impressed, just be prepared to see au natural!
The area around the hotel was clean and quite upmarket there is a beautiful marina not far and we found a great coffee shop that held a food market directly on the seafront close by.
I only have one recommendation and that would be to play some quiet ambient music in the communal areas as it can lack a bit of atmosphere.
All in all we had an amazing time, in a beautiful part of the world for our wedding anniversary, The Guest Relations Manager, Ivica Babic made sure everything was fine, every day he went out his way to speak to all the guests, nothing was too much trouble for him and his team.
Thank you and we will be back.

Tucked between larger, busier Falkensteiner hotels in Zadar you can find the more serene oasis of Adriana. Maybe 40-50 rooms, 17+ only, makes this a delightful place. Lovely superior rooms and recommend those facing the sea or inner gardens.
Some may baulk at booking full board but we would recommend it. Set menu for dinner but with at least three options the choice is good and we thought the food excellent. The light lunch from the buffet works well, too, if you’re having a lazy day by the pool just 100m from the sea. Wine included and it’s good, local wine. Beware of drinks included however as it is a little vague between the restaurant and pool bar.
The service is excellent. Friendly, helpful, accommodating staff in all areas with special mention of the restaurant and reception. There is a sense of understaffing which may be post covid and financial efficiencies and we would advise Falkensteiner to address this. We also wondered about management support for and supervision of staff who clearly work hard yet there are areas which need attention such as checking and cleaning the outside showers by the pool. A relatively small observation yet making a difference.
The 4/5 is however fully deserved: we had a lovely time!

We stayed at this hotel for a week with two couples of friends and we really enjoyed it. We were lucky to benefit from exceptional weather which allowed us to eat all meals outside, to enjoy the seaside, the small beach and the still warm water.
The back of the hotel is a huge, very well maintained garden with deckchairs scattered here and there and a central swimming pool with cyclical water features. Access to the sea is via a gate.
The establishment is a small structure of a few dozen rooms, calm reigns everywhere. Classified as “Adults only”, we met couples and families of all ages and nationalities. Dogs are accepted and we have never been bothered by the slightest barking.
The staff is smiling and very professional, not stingy with advice, responsive to the slightest request and ready to provide the slightest service.
We had a room with a garden view, quiet, designed in a somewhat atypical way with a glass partition between the bathroom and the bed. Impeccable cleanliness, thank you to the ladies on duty for their work.
Exceptional catering as well. A table is assigned to each person for the entire duration of the stay, any change remaining possible. Morning, noon and evening, there is always a buffet where you can help yourself as much as you want, but in addition for breakfast and dinner, a menu is presented with particularly elaborate and superbly presented dishes. This menu is renewed every day for dinner and each time it is a real treat: Congratulations to the cooks!!
An exceptional stay in a small hotel where we felt pampered, with top-of-the-range catering. A week of happiness!

The grounds were amazing but that was the best thing about this hotel. The room and the hotel interior looked dated, staff were pleasant enough but the guest relations manager could do with adopting the phrase ‘less is more’. The arrangements at meal times were very off putting! You were assigned a table for your entire stay, which you needed to be at at breakfast, lunch and dinner. This didn’t make either of us feel relaxed. The pool was cold and needed a do over but the day beds were divine! There seemed to be lots of mosquitoes at the grounds so be cautious

We felt like we were not welcome here. Staff was unfriendly and to us over extremely friendly to other guests. We even lost our appetite seeing this and felt really uncomfortable during breakfast. They made us feel like we were difficult people however they forgot our juices, coffees.. people coming in after us serving quicker. It felt like it was on purpose.
We were searching for our table and they ignored us ! When we asked they started laughing and talking in croatian. This is outermost unpolite.
We stayed in hotels all over the world, different price ranges and work in hospitality ourselves. So we know this is below the standards! The main goals in hospitality are treating every guest with the same level of respect.
Is this because we are young people and don’t fit in the image.
I guess as youngsters we’ve seen and travelled already enough to know what value for money is, and most important of all let guests feel welcome.
I did not event talk about the cigarette smell in de hallway, the hospital feeling and cold interior, no bar at the pool..at check in they were so polite and honest to tell us we had the last room with the bad view and someone has to have the last room. I bet it was from the beginning they did not like us, because again we are young people.
Thankyou for making our last day in croatia so horrible!

Dear Manon, Thank you very much for accepting our most sincere apologies in our private correspondence. I would like to use this opportunity to emphasise once again how seriously this case was taken not only by the entire Falkensteiner Zadar Team, but also by Falkensteiner and Michaeler Tourism Group central office in Vienna. As you can read from numerous of positive reviews here on Booking.com and on many other internet portals, we truly give our best to make all our guests welcomed, well taken care of and to contribute in creating happy, pleasant and unique experience of our beautiful country. The unpleasant case that was described here was truly an isolated and unfortunate chain of events that happened once in our hotel, due to the negligence of one or two members of our staff. It has entered our standards and procedures ''text book'', as an example how not to treat any of our valuable guests ever again. Dear Manon, we most genuinely hope that you will find understanding how this wasn't a typical Falkensteiner Hotel Adriana experience, and that you will give us a second chance in near future. All the best from the entire Team and myself, Ivica Babić Guest Relations Manager

We stayed here two nights in late September as part of a Croatian road trip. Honestly I booked it mostly because it was such a great deal and we were pleasantly surprised by how nice it is.
The hotel is a little dated but extremely well kept. We booked a sea view room with a large balcony with a decent view or the ocean and the hotel's grounds (there's a lot of trees so it's more of a partial view). We Loved that the balcony doors opened completely up giving the room and indoor/outdoor vibe. The room had a comfortable queen sized bed, nice little sitting area and a decent sized bathroom with separate shower and bathtub. There was a minibar in the room and a Nespresso machine. Best of all is that they provide a beach tote already packed with pool towels and flip flops!
The hotel includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. We didn't bother with lunch so I can't comment on that but here's the info on meals:
You seat yourself (we waited around a while the first night expecting someone to show us to a table). For breakfast there is a la carte service for omelettes, eggs Benny etc plus an extensive buffet. They even had sparking work and vodka available!
Dinner there is also a buffet with salad items and appetizers. Plus an a la carte menu with two choices of starters, three choices for dinner plus a desert. You pay extra for cocktails and some wines but dinner comes with unlimited house wines (the rose was our favourite) and beer.
The food was good quality and decent although not amazing but the dining room is beautiful and it's hard to believe how nice everything is considering how reasonable the prices are
There is a gorgeous garden out back with lots of nice seating areas and a large pool (unheated though). At the back of the property is a gate and through that is the ocean with a nice walkway and beach areas. We walked to Zafar's charming old town and it was about an hour at a brisk pace.
We Loved our stay and would definitely return.

We went as a couple and were very impressed with the food and drink provided as half board. The 3 course dinner was of gourmet standard and the buffet at breakfast, lunch and dinner, catered for every desire (and a dozen more!). Wine and beer was provided at both lunch and dinner. Staff were very accommodating, even providing us a lovely picnic hamper for a day out. The beaches in Zadar were disappointing compared to other countries we have travelled but the grounds at the hotel were idyllic with the ocean behind (we enjoyed this even more so, as opted for a superior room which overlooked the ocean). This is definitely a ‘quiet’ retreat for adults (couples or friends), the staff were very courteous and provided some lovely touches like pre-dinner cocktails and a cinema evening around the pool. I’m already trying to think of an occasion (or an excuse!) to go back, so I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for anyone considering a holiday in Zadar.

Price was €663 for two nights, full board, with drinks. On the face of it, good value…..
The reality, the hotel is nothing like the pictures. Rooms are dated and small, we had a “superior “ room too.
Staff are very good and it’s a shame the brand doesn’t support them better.
We arrived to late for lunch, went to the pool, which was cold and again, dated. Sun beds were very good and an abundance of towels.
Dinner is at an allocated table, which was out doors. We ended up as dinner for the mosquitoes. Buffet for salads and breads etc, choice of 3 starters and mains, with one desert or cheeses. Both starters and main courses were small and bland.
My wife also had a cocktail off the menu, which we thought was free, until we checked out.
Didn’t eat anything else, based on that meal, wasn’t worth wasting Zadar.
The hotel did take €40 off each night, which I guess they didn’t have to do but if that’s the budget for 3 meals and drinks for two people……..
This has certainly put us off the Falkensteiner brand.

Stansted Mountfitchet, United Kingdom21 contributions46 helpful votesHi All
Thinking of coming here next June for a week.
Hotel and accommodation looks lovely.
What are the prices like for wine in the restaurant and drinks at the bar?
Also are there any shops / supermarkets within walking distance?
Grateful for any feedback.
Thanks
Dear Carol,
thank you for your question. Indeed most people order wine bottles for dinner but we also serve glasses - starting at ~4 Euros a glass (depending on the exchange rate. The next supermarket is less then 3 min walking distance away, and if you like a litte variation there are several bars within walking distance. The prices are close to European average.
Kind regards Adriana Team
