This is in a great location if you want to explore Dubrovnik on a budget. Yes the rooms are small, yes they need updating and yes the breakfast could be better. But it is adequate and a great price and location. It is set in a small garden by a pedestrian way that leads down to a great beach. There are lots of eating places nearby. A bus to Dubrovnik town stops just round the corner. It runs every 15 minutes or so and is cheap. A word of warning - it takes a slightly different route on the way back. Be patient it will stop by the hotel.

Something about the sheer look of the hotel, it's relaxed charm and the decor appealed to us. It is not near the famous downtown, but it is on a pedestrian walk to the harbour and 20m from the bus downtown (buy tickets at the kiosk at the bus stop and they cost hardly anything). No elevator AND stairs even to reception (no rooms on ground floor so this is not for seniors). I found the room welcoming and pretty, but I could see that the furnishing level was not high level, but for us it worked. Don't expect glamour, but true older style, not glammed up but friendly and welcoming. PS the restaurants in the area are price-gouge, but the doner at the fast food section of one of them was execptional!

The reviews for this hotel are somewhat misleading, as the hotel is really quite dated in the decor, furnishings and appliances. I chose the hotel based on the generally favorable TA reviews, and was disappointed when I saw the rooms. Would have switched to another hotel if we were staying longer than 2 nights. In the end it was OK, but certainly not beyond a 3 star. The hotel and equipment is perfectly functional, except there is no elevator. We were fortunate to get 2 rooms on first floor. Final room was on top 3rd floor and quite a climb with luggage. Ceilings in it were low and had the feel of a hostel. From other reviews, it sounds like some rooms are nicer with balconies etc. Ours were quite small. Color scheme was a drab brown, with furnishings and feel like it was out of the 1950s. Hotel was clean, beds were ok on comfort, staff was very gracious and helpful. The front porch was best feature. The breakfast wasn’t great. They had some fresh fruit and small croissants, but the rest was not very interesting or appetizing. The location is quite good, with lots of restaurants, and just short walk to beach and a beautiful Oceanside promenade which leads to several much nicer (and more expensive) hotels. It is an easy, short bus ride to Old City. It served our purpose and was a good experience overall in the end once we adjusted our expectations. But it really does need a facelift and update.

Staff was really nice and food was even better. The choice of wine and food was very varied and the waiter Vlaho was very kind and recommended us a very good wine and panna cotta was amazing. We will come back for sure.

Nothing really wrong, but we've had far better for the price. Very helpful reception staff. Room a bit small, but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was 'ok' but nothing more. It's right by a pedestrian area with lots of bars and restaurants, which can be a plus, but also means it's a bit noisy at night. Just feel there must be better for the price

We found this hotel to have a very nice ambience with its attractive heritage building surrounded by pleasant gardens. Our room was a balcony room at the front of the hotel. It was a very good size and extremely comfortable, though probably about due for a renovation. The location is excellent, close to beaches and situated in a pedestrianised area wirh plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby. The Old Town is a short bus ride away. One drawback of being in such a busy area however was that we were kept awake by the noise coming from nearby restaurants and bars (we were there on friday and saturday nights so it might be quieter during the week). Overall a nice hotel with pleasant staff.

We stayed two nights. Sunday and Monday night. Our room was facing the back side of the hotel. Our stay wasn’t very pleasant unfortunately! There is a bar nearby the hotel with people constantly singing till 2.30 am - which made it impossible to sleep. The noise level was way beyond the normal nightlife / bar noise level, it sounded more like Croatia actually just won the Football World Cup! The first night we thought it was some birthday party we had to endure, so just bad luck but the second night was even worse. Unfortunately our window was not closing properly which made the whole thing even worse! The breakfast was also pretty disappointing and the bed was fairly uncomfortable.

A lovely hotel in a lush garden setting. We had a room for 4 which was comfortable but a bit small, but perfectly ok for a couple of days. A great breakfast was included. Step outside to an array of bars and restaurants and a 5 min walk to Sunset beach. A big thank you to Petra who went out of her way to help us carry our luggage up 4 floors and booking restaurants. Petra was very courteous and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Zagreb. When staying at Hotel Zagreb we had two twin rooms, which were nice and whilst not the most luxury 5 star hotel they were perfectly adequate and gave us plenty of room even though we had many suitcases. The Hotel is situated in the Lapad area which is about an 8 minute bus or 5 minute taxi (about 70 kora) from the Old Town. This means that it is much quieter than the Old Town and gives it a far more relaxed atmosphere and vibe. Around the Hotel there are many restaurants and bars, with the beach only a 3 minute walk away. The staff at the hotel were excellent and very helpful, particularly the receptionist who gave us honest recommendations on where to eat, drink and change money which are very important when you are new to the area. The hotel has a bar and a restaurant, and whilst we did not eat at the restaurant it was nice to have a drink at the bar which is in the hotel garden before we went out for something else to eat. It was also really helpful that breakfast was included in our room deal. The breakfast was perfectly good with a variety of food types and juices etc. The hotel doesn't have any amazing facilities, but to be honest in the area there is definitely enough with the beach so close and there is a tennis centre next to the hotel. I would say there is no need and anything you need is very accessible. Overall I would really recommend anyone to stay here, there is everything you need and it is nice for a short stay.
