Travellers' Choice 2019 Winner
Certificate of Excellence
In 1979 UNESCO declared the colonial city of La Antigua Guatemala as a World Cultural Heritage Site turning it to a recognized treasure of exceptional value before the eyes of the world. In the XVII Century, the Convent of Santo Domingo was one of the largest in America and in 1773, the earthquake of Santa Marta almost totally destroyed it. In 1989, the project known as Casa Santo Domingo was developed with the primary objective of rescuing the vestiges of the Convent and Temple buried under tons of rubble. Hotel Museum Spa Casa Santo Domingo progressively emerged where each corner is a page lost in time that joins others to form a beautiful chapter of the great book of our history.

I just spent a wonderful romantic weekend at this place. I stayed at a suite called El Prior, one of the most beautiful suites I've ever had. It has a gorgeos terrace overlooking a plaza, with lounge chairs and a table to have breakfast, a covered jacuzzi for a nice afternoon

The hotel is beautiful. But be very careful before you make reservations as the hotel does not accept any cancellations. I mistakenly made two separate reservations and when discovered the hotel refused to cancel either room.

I booked this hotel because of how many people told me it was such a great and beautiful place. Well, I don’t think it such a great place after my stay here. The room was more of a 3 star hotel, it was spacious, but noisy since it was close to a maintenance space of the hotel

Dear VVJPaessler, We are sorry to learn that we didn't meet your expectations with the service provided during your visit to La Antigua Guatemala. We understood the frustration you may have felt with the incident indicated and despite having specific guidelines from the credit card companies in our country, we provided the service requested making only the charges involved (taxes; external fees) in the transaction. We believe in being involved with activities that improve the quality of life in the community we are part of and with your purchase of the bottled water in our rooms, you help the development of local public schools.

What does spa access entail?
Mr. William let me tell you that spa access is a new concept in hotel rooms as there are some rooms that include it in the rate.  And this means that the room has an access to the spa area without leaving it.

"Our room was near the spa area. Others areas may also have been as nice."
"Rooms behind the restaurant tend to be quieter. Try to get a SPA room, it's definitely worth the value."

"no bad rooms. great on-site museums and relics. only negative is that it is a bit of a walk to the park and arch area restaurants and shops"
