Detailed Reviews
What a treasure. I have travelled the world but I cannot think of a hotel with more character. It oozes character and island history and if you aren't lucky enough to stay there it is a must as one of the islands main tourist attractions. I delighted in finding a schooners mast as one of rhe main ceiling beams, and a powder flagon from its cannons. The breakfast room is a picture in the morning, and the breakfast spread enough for any hungry mariner. Hazel the owner, for whom nothing seems too much trouble, has done a woderful job creating this unique gem of an hotel. My only surprise was to see an old (2007) poor review still in place online. 13 years old and still in place. Shame on you whoever allows it to remain there!

I arrived at St. Helena by boat. There is a boutique hotel in Jamestown, but I stayed at a place that really provided a sense of an English Inn or Manor House. It was the Consulate Hotel. It was filled with nautical and other antiques, giving a real flavor of the nautical destination. Hazel Wilmot offers a full English breakfast with everything imaginable with a table setting you would expect of an English table. Hazel took care of my laundry from a rough passage and the boat's laundry as well. Great Honor Bar and advice for all your travel and trip needs. Awesome! Coming back with my wife.

From the time we made enquiries months in advance Hazel Wilmot the owner was so friendly;assisted us with sound advice about the Island and even organised our car hire. The hotel is very well located in Jamestown and is filled with antiques,Napoleonic and shipwreck memorabilia. Two lovely libraries keep one busy when not out and about and there are two large balconies to enjoy a drink or coffee on and watch activity in the main street. The sumptuous breakfasts keep one going through the day.

+1
Stayed in St Helena in Feb 2022. The most welcoming staff who will do anything to make your stay more pleasant nothing is to much trouble. Very comfortable rooms. Loved the place and the people. Try Jacob's ladder for fun and visit some of the old world sites. Friendly and generous islanders.

This hotel is a jewel ! The owner Hazel moved to the island 20 years ago to retire, but ended up opening this wonderful hotel instead. It is a delightful boutique hotel, which in a European city would cost many times more. The rooms are impeccable and decorated in their historical setting. Even more wonderful are the various bars and lounges where even locals come and spend some relaxed time chatting and browsing the internet. An absolutely wonderful experience !

This is an amazing place to stay! It has enough memorabilia to fill a museum and oozes charm and history. The rooms are very comfortable and full of character. The lounge is a great place to sit and relax, surrounded by pictures of Napoleon. The dining room is full of nautical items, perfect surroundings for breakfast. The hotel is located right in the heart of Jamestown. Hazel and her team were very friendly and welcoming.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the beautiful consulate hotel in Jamestown. A wonderfully atmospheric old hotel, the staff were absolutely superb. I can't recommend this place highly enough. There is so much history inside this building, and the opportunity to sit on the balcony with the beer and watch the world go by in Jamestown is very special.

You need to contact Hazel Wilmot at the hotel direct. She will look out for your e mail. I was just a guest. It is a wonderful place and the island is one of the most extraordinary places I have been in the world.
