This quiet, cozy, small hotel next to the Tirana Bazaar is a perfect place if you appreciate good service, privacy, cleanliness and style. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful, breakfast very solid.
Pros: Excellent location, very helpful staff with excellent English, comfy beds, nice rooms, nice breakfast Cons: Some poor workmanship in bedroom Two night stop over here for the England U21 game in Albania. The room was nicely appointed and the beds were very comfortable. Tv/Wi-fi both good. Small balcony out the front although not much of a view. Some of the workmanship in the room was to a poor standard. For instance the sink a bit loose and shower door leaked. Breakfast was very good with a decent selection for a small hotel. The young guy behind reception was very helpful. He spoke excellent English and made recommendations of places to eat/things to do. All in all a very nice place to stay.
The gentleman at reception when we arrived was very welcoming, incredibly nice and knowledgeable. Our room was small but well laid out and very clean. When we left to sight see, I had had nothing bad to say about this hotel. However, when we got back after a late dinner we noticed that our room was very warm. We gave it some time to cool down, but it never did. I went to the front desk to ask for assistance. Another gentleman was working, he was very nice and came up to our room, but was unable to do anything about the issue and the maintenance guy was out of town. There were no other open rooms, and since it was after 23:00 we decided to stay put. We tried opening the window, but it did not help and the outside was noisy with barking dogs and car horns. Our room stayed at an uncomfortable 82 degrees F, which is even more uncomfortable laying on a foam mattress. Around 8AM, the AC started working again. Just in time for us to pack and check-out. I can forgive that sometimes things like this happen. But I cannot look past what happened next. At check-out, the lady at the desk never even brought up the AC, or apologized. I had to bring it up. Tired and dehydrated, I asked for some sort of compensation, she said the only thing they could do is pay for the $4 parking. She actually told me, "it could have been worse, it could have been hotter," and, "Well, it is working now. we fixed it!" I told her I wanted $30 back out of the $71 we paid in order to make up for the fact that we didn't sleep, she told me "I can give you $10, we can't just give back money to people." (Then please provide adequate heating and cooling). Being tired made me extra stubborn. After about 30 minutes of receptionist treating me like was trying to "get away with something," the manager finally came over. After hearing my side of the story (which she was completely unaware of.....) I was given a full refund. (extra star). Additional Negatives: - Another thing I found off putting was the list of strict rules the supply you in the room. (A set of 7 on the door, and another set of 50 in a booklet on the desk) Most are not a problem, like, "no motor bikes in the hallway." (DUH). But the list of rules makes me feel like a school child staying at a sleezy hotel, "no hookers." (I'll bring hookers in if I darn well please!!) A couple of the rules are really unreasonable like, "no outside food or beverages." - Laundry services were grossly overpriced, even for western standards. - Mini bar was overpriced. - Bathroom light was so dim! TLDR; AC didn't work, receptionist was disrespectful and rude.…
