We really enjoyed our stay at the Crater Hotel, the hotel was clean, beautiful and well kept. Its a bit away from everything and we were 1 of 2 couples staying in the whole place so you could easily get bored after a day or two. We enjoyed walking around and exploring some trails

My partner and I had to book an extra night in Quito at the last minute because of an issue with the airline, and we chose this hotel because it seemed like staying near a crater would be a good way to turn the disaster into a fun little excursion. We were *not* disappointed. Hot

 Facilities: 4/5 stars. The setting was spectacular with large view windows; the sitting area looked over the Quito valley with the nighttime lights sparkling. The bed/bedroom had a large view window overlooking the crater and houses far below. Absolutely stunning! The fur

We stayed in room 408, overlooking the Pululahua Geobotanical Reserve.
The food was tasty, very helpful and guiding staff.

Hello, I am considering visiting El Crater Hotel in the wintertime. Is there heating in the rooms for when it is cold? Thank you!
Aaron, as we learned in visiting Ecuador recently, there are no seasons on the Equator. As such, there is no wintertime. Many, if not most, hotels in Ecuador do not have heat in the rooms. At El Crater, our room had two oil-filled convection heaters, one of which did not appear to work, so we asked for a third heater since we thought that our room was cold when we arrived. We were also brought additional blankets. It takes a long time for these to fill the space (with no insulation in the walls); however, we woke up during the night feeling very hot and dry.

We are thinking about staying there in April 2017. Did you rent a car to get there? How far and bad is the drive from Quito city or airport. Thank you Mary
Hi Mary, The drive is around one hour from the airport. I arranged with El Crater to have one of their staff pick me up and drop me off again at the airport. They only charged me $35USD for each trip. Considering my very late arrival and my 06:00 departure from Quito Airport a couple of days later, I was most impressed with the service and the cost. I hope this helps and you have a wonderful stay. Kind Regards, Joanne

Hello! I have lived in Ecuador (Guayaquil) and traveled to Ecuador several times. I'm fond of the cloud-forest region as well as the volcanoes. For this (Spring 2015) trip, I am interested in birding, hiking, horse-back riding. Are these activities available at/near this hotel? In addition, what, is the airport-transportation surcharge? Thank you for any information you can provide!
Dear costumer: All of the activities mentioned are available at our hotel. there is the crater which invites hiking and horse back riding. moreover, Mindo, which is a rain forest tourist resort full of activities and beautiful views, is around 45 minutes drive from the hotel. we also arrange guided tours for several places. the airport pickup rate is 40 USD. we really hope to see you soon as our guest, best, El Crater
