Owners Gabi and Rudy ate welcoming and helpful. The setting is in the heart of Fuch with restaurants and the Artisinal Market a short walk away. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Shower is hot with good pressure. Breakfast is not included but can be added for a nominal fee. We left early so we didn’t eat breakfast there. They were more than happy to provide but we usually don’t eat at 7 am. The sitting area is comfortable and allows for social distancing. Free WiFi and if you want you can even play with their two small dogs. A great find as our usual hotel is closed at the moment.
The location of the hostel is good, right next to Plaza Foch. Good nightlife, bars and restaurants nearby. The hotel is very safe with a 24 hour reception. The owners are multilingual and friendly. The house itself would be nice as it creates a mansion atmosphere. However, the house is old and in need of renovation. We have seen more beautiful hostels on our Ecuador journey. The rooms are old-fashioned and have no charm. The bathroom was integrated afterwards as an open space in the room, which gives a strange picture and leaves no privacy. The hotel offers a good, simple breakfast, which is included in the price. However, the negative points must always be seen in relation to the price. It is very cheap, because of that, one should not expect much more luxury. All in all, a good choice for a short stay in Quito if you don't want to spend too much money.…
Yellow house is a small family run and owned pension in the hart of the "Mariscal" district of Quito (New town). Mother and daughter go out of there way to make you feel welcome and to help you to organize your further trip. They speak german and english. Breakfast was included in the room price.
Yellow House is in a great location, where we were steps to the Hop on Bus, Plaza Foch, many restaurants, and a laundry service. The owner and her daughter were very helpful. I would recommend to have them book your taxi to the airport for $25. They offer a breakfast consisting of a bun, cheese, fruit , juice and tea/coffee. Eggs are additional $. (Not much) We stayed 2 different times. First when we landed in Quito and then after the Galapagos. Our room the first visit was in the main building. It was lovely with a table, chairs and futon in front of a window. The room was classified as deluxe double. The bathroom was a bit tight, but still functional. Our room for the second visit was in the back section- classified as a double. While the size of the room was sufficient, we found the bed too small. The bathroom had glass walls with a curtain to pull when you are in there ( worked well enough). I recommend asking for a room in the main building and a deluxe double for the larger bed. We were able to store our bags after checkout which was very helpful. There is no heat and the room will be chilly . There is a blanket but it’s not super thick. There are courtyards throughout the property where you can sit in the sun and warm up . Ask the owner and her daughter for tour recommendations. There definitely are some repairs that need to be done to the house, but if you can overlook them you will find good value for the $ here . …
I was flying to Quito with my dad to meet my brother who's travelling round south america. We booked this for our first 2 night in Quito as it had good reviews, but we had intended moving somewhere else after. We ended up staying 4 nights then another 2 before we returned home. The owner and her daughter we so kind and helpful and the rooms were great. They are big and clean and very comfortable. It's super close to the main square but still surprisingly quiet. Can't recommend it enough.
This is a simple basic hotel with very economical rates. Everything needed for a stay is there, everything works, and it is clean. Breakfast is simple but adequate. Filtered water is available in the dining room to fill water bottles. Water in the shower is hot and plentiful. Located right in the heart of the Mirascal, half a block from Fuchs plaza, it is an easy walking distance to all the restaurants the area is known for. It can get a bit noisy on weekends, but you don't stay in this location to hang out in a quiet room. The area is party central for Quito. Security is excellent. The staff is helpful and attentive. I had a minor plumbing problem in my room, the manager immediately moved me to another room with no questions.
Gabbi and her daughter were wonderful hosts. We stayed for 6 nights. Very clean. Nice breakfast with great coffee and bananas and delicious eggs made by very friendly staff. Very good wifi. I would recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay. While the area is a busy nightlife area on weekend nights and you can hear music from neighboring bars, the rest of the time it is very nice and peaceful and an easy spot to get anywhere in Quito. Lots of inexpensive fast food shops or high end restaurants nearby too. And they have a very nice garden too.
We were welcomed in a very friendly, warm and reassuring way by a German family, the owner and her daughter. The team can greet their customers in English, Spanish as well as German. First, to get in the hotel, we had to ring the doorbell to inform the front desk we were there. The front door is always locked to keep the hotel safer. Also, since we arrived very late at night, they showed us our room right away and let us check-in only the morning after, which was greatly appreciated. Breakfast was included with our room. The first morning, the owner served the breakfast to customers, which is a nice personal touch. We got eggs, fresh fruits juice, an excellent bread with butter and filtered water. We would definitely recommend this place since it felt very safe, warm and welcoming to us. If you want a even more detailed review and photos of this hotel, you can visit Flytrippers' website.…
Awesome location. Literally within 25 feet of the fountain , the “Foch Yeah” sign and the hop on hop off Quito bus stop. Very helpful staff, fast internet. Electronically locked gates can only be opened from the office. Tons of places to eat within a couple of minutes. Rooms and fittings are old, but that is part of the charm. Kept clean. Good hot water. I did not hear much bustle, even though we were literally a few steps from plaza Foch. Shanti in the office goes out of her way to help. Highly recommended
We extended our stay here from 2 to 5 nights as we liked it so much. Hostel is run by very friendly German lady and her daughter who were more than helpful whenever we needed anything. Big spacious room with good shower. Excellent wifi (50mb+) and free computer access. Basic free breakfast with options to pay for more extensive breakfast. Amazing location right beside central busy area for pubs restaurants and clubs - plaza foch. Hostel has double glazed windows so noise isn't an issue. Would definitely recommend as a cheap clean and comfy hostel
