We had a wonderful time at DeLuna! Great diving, great location, and great staff.

We primarily came here for the diving and were able to dive in some spectacular sites. Andrei, who runs the dive shop at DeLuna was outstanding. He was very knowledgeable and even wrote a book on diving in this area which we often read in the evenings to find out more about the next day’s dive options. He brought us to some beautiful sites where we saw turtles, puffer fish, and coral gardens among other things. He answered all our questions, and there were always a lot of questions as we are annoyingly enthusiastic and curious. The crew on the boat were also lovely. Super helpful and nice. We felt we were always being taken care of both on the boat and in the water. Also the hotel staff brought us hot towels after our dive and took the time to listen to us babble about our adventures under water.

Our room was nice. Comfortable, clean, and air conditioned. The food in the restaurant was great. Especially the Tapsilog on the breakfast menu which quickly became our favourite (especially when it was served with mango). Their crepe with fresh fruit also made the perfect post dive snack.

What really made our stay was the staff who were always nice and helpful. They helped us plan our calling tricycles, suggesting activities, and sharing local knowledge. They were very friendly and made us feel very welcome.

The location was exactly what we were looking for- quiet and relaxing, right next to the beach. Perfect place for morning and evening swims and chatting outside in the sun. It is also a short tricycle ride from White Beach and a 30 minute walk from a nice waterfall. Most importantly for us it was never more that 45mins from our dive site and most were a lot closer than that so we didn’t need to wait too long to go diving.

All in all we had a wonderful holiday here and are already looking forward to going back. If you want a diving holiday without having to stay in a busy location this place is perfect!

Located near the more isolated Talipanan Beach i found De Luna a nice place to stay at. The rooms are reasonably priced although pretty basic, and the food was relatively expensive compared to other places on the island. However, being further away from Puerto Galera proper you can definitely notice how much quieter it is. I especially liked the hammock out the back that looked out over the ocean. I recommend walking along the beach out the front of the resort and looking at all of the abandoned buildings along the shoreline. The trikes generally don't drive all the way to the entrance of the resort because the road is still being constructed and will charge around 100pesos to get to and from De Luna to White Beach (i'd recommend bartering it down to at least 50pesos). Overall a nice place and lovely staff.

De Luna resort is a decent hotel in Talipanan beach, right at the far end of it.
There are around 16 rooms based on the two corridors (ground and first floor). The restaurant is beautifully located almost on the beach and is always kissed by a gentle breeze. The resort beach itself is in front of it ( roughly around 5-6 sqm). It is just man-made and elevated from the original beach due to the strong tide. In other words to get to sea you need access to a wooden ladder.
To enjoy the proper beach you need to walk a couple of minutes on your right.

The personnel is nice but never exceeding their standards. Lots of smiles but the service is really slow (I believe it could be quite common there, as the life style looks really relaxed).

Pro: Family room has a decent size, you can listen to the sound of the sea (if aircon is off) . The hotel in fact is located right on the sea. Beach towels available free of charge. Staff is ok.

Cons: The access to the hotel is very difficult and should be definitely mentioned if you have young kids or elderly/unfit people. The road to access it needs to be resurfaced and there is a good 700m in a very bad conditions. Not even the tricycles go down to pick you up at De luna as they cannot make the steep road.

At breakfast, although it cost 250 pesos per head it does not include a refill of your coffee (american style coloured hot water, not talking of a cappuccino) or even extra slice of bread gets counted and charged at the end of your stay= very annoying!!!!!!
Kids are offered either tea or coffee or nothing: no juice available???

After three days without having anyone cleaning the room I had to request it as we had run out of toilet paper. Out of six night that was the only time the room was cleaned.

The air conditioner is rather old and very noisy and all the furniture in the bathroom is cheap. The towel rail was broken when we got in and it was never replaced/repaired during our stay.

Wi-fi connection is ok although when the hotel was full during the weekend was impossible to connect.

We decided to have a day tour at Coral Garden, and after agreeing the timing and charges with hotel reception we were taken back more than two hours earlier because the boat was booked by someone else. We were so disappointed I managed to drop some money off from the original price, but only after a long discussion with boat owner who was extremely rude: this was even more frustrating. Hotel reception? No one able to take any responsibility or decision about this matter.

Take note that if you’re travelling with kids, wants some privacy and just want to really enjoy minus the big crowds, Talipanan and Aninuan areas in PUerto Galera are the best place to be. De Luna is one of the best hotels to stay in the area, away from the raunchy White Beach. So quiet and styled in a chill out kind of way just like a private beach house. The staff are amazing! Very attentive and polite. The bedroom we got is simple but very clean (deluxe). The food is good though they should add more pinoy favorites. The price is ok for such a charming hotel. Activities includes PADI courses, with neighbouring hotels offer ng jet skis and banana boat (beside the hotel). It’s really great to be here because we badly needed the peaceful and quiet surroundings. Less tourists, less noise, perfect for families and lovebirds.we enjoyed swimming on the clean waters of Talipanan beach.
