Stayed here for a week during a business trip, primarily because of the proximity to my office.. and found this hotel to be very nice and comfortable. The presence of an North Indian restaurant was a pleasant surprise... though the menu doesn't have a wide selection, whatever I tried tasted good. Breakfast spread is quite decent with many choices including Indian, Chinese and western options. Staff has been really courteous and willing to help.

Rooms are quite spacious, clean, well furnished with all modern amenities. The health club and pool are just great.

The location is good if your business is in this side of the city, else you will find it far from many attractions. The metro station and nearest shopping-mall is in walking distance (1+ KM).. taxi is easily available. Else there is nothing much to do in the area.

Wifi isn't free, except for IHG members or executive floor rooms.

Overall a nice and comfortable stay, I highly recommend if this location works for you.

I wish Holiday Inn would build hotels like this in the USA.
My wife and I returned today from a weeks visit with our son in Beijing. The accommodations at the Holiday Inn in the Haidian district were excellent.
The staff is very friendly, efficient, and willing to help travelers in any way. I was particularly happy with the morning staff in the Fusion Flavors. Breakfast each day was a joy. I wish I had written down the names of the morning managers as they should recieve particular praise for their very kind assistance.
Do not worry that the hotel is not in the center of town. It's 45-0 minutes to the airport, a 15-30 minute cab ride to the center of town, a 5 minute walk to Tsinghua University. Cabs are readily available, cheap (Hotel to Forbidden city ~$6US; hotel to airport ~$15US) You have to ride in the cabs!!! What an experience, forget traffic regulations even exist!!
The rooms are great. Clean, comfortable, well lit, great TV with English channels, a safe in the room, the shower is terrific with a rain fall shower head.
I would recommend this hotel highly.

I stayed here for 10 days recently and enjoyed my stay. The hotel is very new and modern and AC and internet work well which isn't always a given in the city.

I stayed in an Exec room and the daily laundry of a shirt was a welcome benefit as it saves me having to iron any of my crumpled shirts. The exec lounge was very quiet and i didn't bother using it as most of the time i was getting back from work after the happy hour had completed, and there was generally no-one there apart from yourself.

The Indian restaurant onsite is good and caters well for vegetarians but i would say compared to the Ganges in Wudauku which is a 15 minute walk away, that place is about half the cost and had a much wider menu. Having said that the convenience of having an Indian restaurant on-site its pretty handy and good was of good standard (Ganges also deliver to the HI). So you can say this hotel is in an ideal spot for people who like Vegetarian and/or Indian foods.

The only issue I had was getting a taxi in the morning and then once acquired queuing for 20 minutes to cross the railway track, as the hotel is situated in a extreme traffic pinch-point as the only way to cross over the ground-level railway is outside the hotel so it gets very congested.

This isn't something the hotel can really do much about. All in all a good stay and the staff all friendly.

Dear guest, Thank yu for staying in Holiday Inn Beijing Haidian and sharing your valuable comments with us. It's honorable that our Indian restaurant meets your needs. And we have shared your comments with hotel management and F&B team, we'll make improvement for wider menu according to the actual and your suggestions. Besides, the traffic jam in Beijing is a big problem. Please make taxi reservation on concierge counter in advance if there is a need. And subway of line 15 is a good and green choice as well. Thank you again for sharing comments. We look forward to welcoming you back in the next future.

I have been to this hotel many many times, but I wont be returning, The room I was given was old, dusty and outdated. This never happened before. When my husband asked for another room, he was told that he would have to pay more for a different room. Because it was my birthday and he went a head and paid more. The second room was smaller than the first, but at this point we just let it go.

Now on to the breakfast. The food was very bland and not many vegetarian options. Also, there was so many staff members just walking around, but none of them were taking dishes off of the guest tables. Its a buffet, so at this point you could be sitting there with dishes just piling up on the table. My husband and I just started reusing our dishes as the staff continued to walk around.

The final straw for me was the pool. My husband and I were in the cold Jacuzzi and watched one of the hotel workers walk in and and stare at the woman foreigner swimming.

She was the only one in the pool and there were no children in the pool. It made us not want to even swim if he was just gonna stare at us. We're adults and it was just uncomfortable. This was disappointing as it was my birthday and I was really looking forward to swimming.

Needless to say, I had some personal problems with this hotel and I wont be returning. If you dont find these to be things that would bother you then you shouldnt have a problem.

Dear Kareena, Frist of all, Happy Birthay to you, a belated blessing. We feel so sorry to let our repeat guest leave such a negative comment about your hotel experience, i'm sure this is not our standard of service. Our people might fail to explain the price difference between Deluxe room and Superior room which is better facilities and higher view and please do remind us your birthday if it's not in the duration of your stay here, we will be glad to prepare a birthday surprise for you. We'd like to apologize for the improper behavior our people showed in the restaurant and pool, a series of trainings will come to remind them of service with true hospitality. Thank you for your suggestions and hope your next stay here will meet your expectation as always.

But overall pretty good for Beijing. Service was excellent in the lounge and breakfast area. MR. Bai yang the bartender tended for us every night for 6 nights. Great guy! The rooms was ok, had an issue w my room smelling like smoke however when I called to complain , the desk told me to change my room which I thought was weird as why should I change my room if someone is smoking nearby in a non smoking hotel???

Furthermore , do not call the massage service !!!!!! There is a reason why they have a disclaimer posted in every room stating that it is an “outside” party and not related to the hotel. But there is a sign in every room!!! The massage is not even good and they try offer “extra” services and constantly bother you about it. Seems like it’s known at this hotel and I would recommend the holiday inn to investigate this. That is not what I wanted or expected.

Other than that, decent hotel and good breakfast.

A nice business hotel with clean rooms and facilities, but not much stood out. Biggest downside was its location--a bit isolated and few restaurants nearby. Qinghua U. and Wudaokou, two major locations in the area, are too far to walk to, and need to talk taxi anyway. So not particularly recommend this hotel.

We arrived in Beijing on a 90ºF (32C) day. We checked into the hotel at about 9PM. The room was hot, so I turned on the AC and went to sleep. I woke up soaked in sweat. I took the blanket out of the duvet, tried to go back to sleep and couldn't. The room was too hot. I went to the front desk and told the receptionist that the air conditioning wasn't working in my room. She said she would have someone check it out. When no one did, I went back asked the same person what was going on. She told me the hotel is centrally air conditioned and the manager turns off the air conditioning at 9 at night.
Bottom line, there is no air conditioning in this hotel as far as I am concerned.

This was a great hotel with beautiful rooms, comfortable beds, good food in the restaurant, and friendly staff. It is very conveniently located for the Haidian Science Park - however the hotel was sorely let down by the terrible internet access it offered. The internet service was very expensive and very, very slow - for the "silicon valley" of China, this is something that needs to be sorted. All in all, however, it was a very good hotel - and I certainly would stay here again if they upgraded their internet offering.

We stayed at this hotel for several days when we attended a conference at Tsinghua University. It's a 20-minute walk to the main building of the university and about 15 minutes to the subway. We thoroughly enjoyed the reasonably priced breakfast with a wide selection of western and Chinese dishes. The pool is wonderful (especially if you like to do laps), the gym is small but well equipped, the rooms are quiet, spacious and comfortable, and the staff is friendly and helpful. If you're going to Tsinghua, this hotel is ideal.

Stayed 7 nights at Holiday Inn Haidian, Beijing whilst on business last week. Changed my room to a non-smoking one when I checked in. As the hotel had not got any kings size rooms available that evening, I decided to take a twin bed roo (on 4th floor). The room was very spacious, quiet and well-equiped. Bed was comfy, shower room (walk-in shower; no bath) with WC was clean. There is a second telephone in the shower room, magnifying make-up mirror (attached to the wall) and even a speaker linking to the TV's audio, all of which I thought were very nice touches. I found the wifi connection in the hotel not too bad (both in my room and in the communal areas)
.
The staff at the Reception Desk were friendly and efficient; their command of English is good considering it is not their native language. I want to thank Nana and Vivian who went out of their way to make me feel welcome; they were most helpful and nothing was too much for these two ladies. Thanks also to Snow and his team (at the Concierge); they managed to find the much needed taxi during the Monday morning rush hours.

Someone from the Tripadvisor community has suggested that the Restaurant staff could learn from the Reception team. I agree. For instance, when my dish was delivered to my table, I had not expected to be asked (by the waitress) to take it off her tray (particularly when service charge is about 15%)! This had happened many times during my stay.

One note of caution. The hotel has a swimming pool (including a spa - jacuzzi) which guests can use free of charge. Ladies, if you want to use the pool, either bring your own swimming cap or pay 90RMB (about £10) to buy one from the hotel. The pool was lovely and mostly quiet; but the jacuzzi was not what I had expected. The jets are right in the centre (where there is no seating area!) instead of usually located along the spa's perimeter. But as I was the only one using the jacuzzi that afternoon, I could not complain.

All in all, a very good stay at this hotel and would be happy to stay there again.
