Detailed Reviews
I was perhaps one of the last persons to stay mid March right before the world locked down for Covid-19 pandemic. This is a small hotel is located right on the beach with about 18 rooms, most rooms with spectacular sea views. I had one of of the sea facing rooms with an expansive balcony. The rooms are larger than average with high ceilings and well maintained interiors. This is a great hotel hotel if you want peace, quiet less crowd, rest and recuperate, read or focus on work or study. This hotel has larger sister hotel with similar name in the neighbourhood which made it so confusing for for taxi and Uber drivers. Twice, I was dropped off at their bigger hotel while not paying attention.
The food was great, the staff were very friendly and willing to go out of their way to be helpful. One night I had Salmon for dinner, which was really nice considering how far salmon would have travel to get to your dinner plate in Mombasa. Due very few guests during my stay, breakfast and dinner were made on order. The room came with all standard amenities including, espresso machine, mini bar, safe, and ironing tools and bottled drinking water.
One thing you should be aware, like most places in Mombasa the non portable water is extremely hard making it almost impossible to get a single bubble from soap or shampoo during showers...feels like half sea water. On the negative, their bed linen including towels were too dated and faded to off white. Overall, a great stay and would definitely stay here again.

+1
The staff at this resort is AMAZING! The hotel manager and staff have been so kind and accommodating. I traveled with a group of 30+ people, and not one need/request went unmet. We’ve already declared this to be our official Mombasa hotel and have plans to visit again. Each room has a unique design but they are equally beautiful. The beach front view and easy access to the beach is an added luxury. Every meal was delicious, and there were many, many options! If you are visiting Mombasa or near cities, this is the resort for you!

I travel 100% for my profession and I must say, I have never experienced this kind of customers service in my life. EXCELLENT to say the least. The staff at Sun Africa were amazing, gracious, helpful, and personable. They made us feel like we were staying with family. We were because my group has made it a MUST for our future Kenya travel. The manager especially went above and beyond to make everything special. On the last evening of our stay, he arranged for us to have dinner on the lawn Oceanside. Who does that?! As I stated, superb!
The ocean view balcony rooms are a must. The design and decor of the hotel also make for great photos. The food was tasty and fresh.
Thank you to the Sun Africa staff for an amazing experience! We can’t wait to get back!

1 / 5
Check in is 12 pm, and we have been waiting past 3 pm and our rooms still aren’t ready. The hotel is big or busy at all so there’s no excuse why there are guests still waiting. I’m addition, reception was bad at providing updates or compensating for wasting our time sitting around.
If you can’t get the simple things right it’s just downhill spiral from there for the rest of the experience. This is just the day 0, I’m sure more issues will arise over the next few days.
1 star. Do no recommended. Never coming back.

The staff makes this place the most outstanding! Shout out to Mercy, Caleb, Kennedy, Jonathan, Leah, Bernard too many to name. The manager is so visible and loves to check in with the guests. We stayed here during our medical missions trip and we were home every time we completed a busy day! The rooms are so clean, the food out of this world delicious. I look forward to returning. The beach is steps away from the property. We ate like kings and queens. Thank God for a wonderful stay. They quickly responded to an issue with one of our rooms. Offered another room in a sister hotel. You won’t regret this decision to stay at SABR! Oh on our last night, they treated us to dinner on the lawn with a cake for us. Who does that?!

I was very satisfied with this resort/hotel in Nyali. The room was spacious, a huge private balcony, very comfortable bed, and wonderful food for breakfast lunch and dinner. Service was excellent by everyone. The massage was one of the best I have had. The concierge set up rides to everywhere I went. We sat out on the patio each morning for breakfast with the ocean breeze. thier pizza and pasta dishes were excellent!
