We had an absolutely fantastic time at the Kilima Camp. The eco-friendly camp is located on the hills with an astonishing view over the Masai Mara reserve. Sleeping in the large comfortable tents was an amazing experience. Zebras and giraffes were strolling around the camp and during the night we could hear hyenas and other wild animals. It was not rare to see wild animals like zebras from our own terrasse. The guides were incredible in finding rare animals: amongst the best experience were the sight of three rhinos on a close distance crossing in front of our jeep, a lioness caring her small baby in her mouth and a lion who had just killed a buffalo. We also witnessed a lot of other amazing situations/animals during the tours with the guides. One morning we had a breathtaking breakfast in the sunrise in the reserve. Another unforgettable moment was when we were riding the camps horses. Riding horses close to giraffes and zebras is an unforgettable experience.

The camps restaurant was above expectations. The food was excellent. Every dinner the chef served a four-course meal with salad from the own garden, soup, main course and dessert. The personnel were very accommodating. The Masai guide Berika made arch and arrows for the kids to play with.

The camp handled the Covid-19 situation very well with regular temperature checks, staff wearing masks and all other hygiene recommendations.

On the whole, we had an amazing stay at the Kilima Camp and hope we can return some day. We strongly recommend this camp if you are looking for a safari experience!

As a frequent traveler in Kenya I've had the privilege of visiting many camps. A friend suggested that I should take my guests to Kilima Camp situated in the beautiful Mara Triangle region of the Masai Mara. Upon entering we were immediately taken with the gorgeous expansive views and warmly welcomed by the manager and his team. Other "eco friendly" camps should come here to learn what that truly means, Kilima takes it to a serious level. The tented rooms with incredible views are complete with both indoor and outdoor showers. Our days were busy with exceptional game drives in open air land cruisers, a morning balloon safari and best of all a horseback riding safari. Having never experienced a horseback riding safari my group and I were eager to go. Ones level of riding experience is taken into account by Kilima's "horse whisper" in assigning horses. We spent a lovely hour walking and trotting thru the bush while viewing numerous giraffes and zebras. They offer from a one hour to full days outing. Meal time at Kilima is a special treat with most of the produce and honey coming from their organic lush garden. We enjoyed our stay so much that we stayed on an extra night! I highly recommend a visit to this hidden gem of a camp. I'm already looking forward to returning.

Dear Linda, Many thanks for your your review and your comments. It means a lot to all of us, especially as you a frequent traveller in Kenya. . I am glad to hear that you have enjoyed our horse riding safari . We have 8 horses . Horses are the most natural and exciting means to explore the area. Combine that with the lack of engine noise and you can see why so many people consider horseback safari to be a far superior experience than conventional vehicle-based safari. All level accepted. At Kilima Camp we offer traditional game drive safari on board our 4x4 open sided vehicle with our excellent local guide. You can go for a day or a full day with a pic nic packed lunch; We can also organise bush breakfast . We also organise guided walks and walking safari and horse back safaris. Most there are so much to see and experience that we believe guest can stay easily up to 5 or 6 nights / one week. i understand why you extended your stay :) Suroundings is beautiful and I am glad you have enjoyed our food and local product (vegetables gown in our Bio garden and honey form our Bees). Thanks again for your review and we look forard to wecloming you again soon; Veronique and kilima Camps's team

We stayed in Kilima Camp as a big group. Kilima Camp is an eco camp and therefore one can never see anything plastic and/or non-bio degradable. Every piece of furniture in and out of your tent or reception is aesthetically very well put together and on top getting along with the huge sense of amazing nature surrounding you. We saw zebras feeding around our tents during the day and also saw a mangoose family shying away from humans :) The staff is very polite, looking after you very well. One can always feel that his / her every need is met or at least doing their best to make you feel happy. Hotel manager Muhammed is a professional, sincere person and it reflects to all his staff.

Today we would like to share our experience with Kilima Camp with you. In December 2021 we were able to experience 8 wonderful days with Oranje Safaris. Among other accommodations, we were lucky enough to spend 2 nights at Kilima Camp. From our point of view the best accommodation during the whole trip. Everything was perfect – from the welcoming to the goodbye. The camp is quite small – they provide 12 luxury tents in total. The whole staff is absolutely amazing – the atmosphere is very welcoming, we felt like home from the first minute. We loved their attention to detail in the tents, on the campsite, everywhere. We also had the chance to spend New Year’s Eve there – we had an amazing five-course dinner with great food from their own garden Thank you to the whole team for all your efforts and kindness. Good to know: The Eco-tourism Kenya has awarded the camp with a Gold Medal in July 2018. They show their efforts to reduce the facility’s ecological footprint by design and forestation, extensive use of solar energy, water conservation (two purpose built dams to collect up to 12,000 cubic meters of rainwater) & having clear benefits to the local community including supporting the Maasai cultural village. As an absolute highlight, I planned to propose to my girlfriend on the last day. In this respect, I received active support, both in the planning from our safari provider as well from the whole team at Kilima Camp. After an unforgettable riding safari, the breakfast table was set with a breathtaking view. It was just the perfect trip, the perfect camp, the perfect moment - everything was perfect and the day was just indescribably beautiful. In the afternoon we also had the chance to use the spa area with a warm bubble bath and an amazing view. We will never forget this special day. Eventually, we would also like to point out that all employees of Kilima Camp, are vaccinated and attach great importance to hygiene. The temperature is always measured and disinfectants are available everywhere. We can recommend the camp to 100 % and are already looking forward to return to this magical place at some day. So if you are looking for an unforgettable experience in the Maasai Mara go for the Kilima Camp!

Thanks for your review and for sharing your experience. I am glad that out of all the lodges and camps you visited while on safari for 8 days, Kilima Camp was your best experience and favourite camp. We have in total 12 classic tents and 3 deluxe tents can also accommodate families with children – up to 5 people) . SO 15 tents in total which is small enough to be able to offer a tailor made service to all our guests and to make sure that all our guests have a personalised wonderful stay. We are eco rated since 2018 and respecting and preserving our beautiful environment is a paramount importance and a top priority since our opening. All the guests, if they wish, are invited to visit the back of our house with all our eco-friendly « infrastructures » , our Bee houses , and our Bio Garden . Many thanks. I had such an incredible stay at the Kilima Camp in December 2019. The camp staff were very courteous and generous with their time ready to accommodate my requests and made me feel extra special. In fact, I ended up extending my stay as a result! The spa treatment (massage and bath) was absolutely heavenly and the views phenomenally breathtaking! The guide was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable during the game drives. The camp manager was also extremely attentive and showed such great professionalism and care for all the guests. The Chef was at hand to make bespoke meals and signature dishes that were absolutely delish! I intend on making another visit, hopefully soon! Greatly recommend this place for any couple, family or solo traveller like myself looking for adventure and peace of mind! Magdalene Kariuki.

Visited the Mara in January of 2022 and stayed at Kilima Camp with my brother in law. We were received by the most friendly and courteous staff, who gave it all to ensure we were well settled in and comfortable. The staff were extremely pleasant and their services were well above most and quite fulfilling to say the least.

The entire camp and especially the tents, are very clean and well cared for. They are very roomy and modernized, but still offer the bush tent experience especially for a first timer. They have good variety of amenities in each tent, running hot water and inside plumbing as well. The Camp is located on top of a hill, which offers some of the greatest views of the Mara triangle and beyond.

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable when it comes to where to find various game, the best routes to take within the Mara Triangle. He gave us insights into the different traits/behavior the animals exhibit and when/why they do so. The overall game drive experience with him will sure leave lasting impressions.

I highly recommend Kilima Camp to anyone going to the Maasai Mara.

Unparalleled beauty combined with friendly and attentive staff. Comfortable and clean tents with turn down service prepare you for a full day of safari sights and game drives. Even though we spent 3 nights, we were unable to take advantage of all the amenities like horseback riding, nature walks, etcetera. If you’re traveling to Maasai Mara, Kilima Camp needs to be your destination.

It is true that you may not be able to take advantage of all the amenities and activities if you sty only 3 nights. We recommend in general to stay 4 to 5 nights if possible so you can also enjoy other activities on top of the traditional game drive : bush safari walks, guided cultural masai village, school visit, horse riding (all level welcome) , hot balloon , Spa and massages, sundowners... One of the highlights of the camp is without a doubt our staff and team on site with our manager and his dedicated and professional team and guides. Everyone will make sure that you have lifetime memories . Warm regards and we hope we will be able to host you again in the future VĂ©ronique and Kilima Camp's team

The hospitality and genuineness for the staff was exceptional. The camp itself was kept extremely clean. We were pleased to find no fence around the area. One morning we awoke to Zebra grazing next to our tent.

The food was excellent and the service was timely as well as friendly. We appreciated the modest size of the camp because it afforded us an intimacy with the other visitors. The personalized attention from the entire staff greatly enhanced the quality of our experience.

We had the good fortune of having a remarkably gifted naturalist in James, our driver. His temperament was remarkable. He has a vast knowledge of ornithology and a good nose for where the wild game could be found.

This experience is one that we will celebrate as magnificent!

A most wonderful tent camp in the Masai Mara triangle. Easy to get to via Safari Airlines and not far from the air strip. Incredibly welcoming with a staff that is dedicated to your every need. Game drives, walking tours, horseback riding (yes), and first class service, amenities, and attention. Uniquely self sustaining and eco minded. Kilima Camp has a massive organic garden, solar, water conservation, and no carbon footprint. The food is amazing, the service will meet your every need, and the tents are spacious with a view of the Mara. But, let's face it you go there for the animals and our guide found them all! Kilima Camp is a very special place! Our group loved it!

Absolutely loved my time at Kilima Camp. Went with a group of 8 friends and we all loved the accomodation. The rooms are clean and stylish and the beds comfortable with a remarkable chef who made delicious food everyday. The manager was a lovely host and a great storyteller and showed us the best spots or animal viewing. The location on a cliff gives a stunning view of the Masai Mara plains. Will definitely be back.
