.... is the phrase most heard at this wonderful safari lodge, and you are!! From the first meeting at the airstrip by Levi, our tracker for the week, to the farewell from Anne and the team when we left, the entire staff could not have done more to make us feel welcome and to make sure that we enjoyed every aspect of the holiday.

Levi was wonderful, his knowledge and experience guaranteed that we saw all the game that there was to see including the "famous five" group of cheetahs, and several sightings of the leopard Fig and her offspring Figlet. We also spent almost an entire drive watching a lion pack of males, females and nine cubs playing and roaring a challenge to anything within earshot, a fantastic experience.

Eddie the chef served up some great meals and was always ready to help and advise on the menu. Johnstone, our waiter, was very attentive and efficient, and always made sure that we had everything that we wanted. Raymond and David were also always available for a chat and any help that we needed.

The room was always spotless, well done to the unseen cleaning staff, and a special thanks to the Masai security staff who were always on hand when needed as escorts after dark. Laundry was returned within 24 hours in perfect condition.

We were treated to breakfast in the bush one morning. Many thanks to Eddie, Johnstone and the lovely Joy who welcomed just the two of us with a full table of breakfast options including eggs etc. cooked as we waited. Wow!

Perfect!

Traveling to Kenya was a dream and staying at Mahali Mzuri was more than I could have imagined. The staff members were so warm hearted, accommodating, friendly and professional. Big smiles and gentle souls! I loved coming into my beautiful tent feeling so well taken care of. I left a book and magazine on my bed and they so nicely placed it on my desk, folded my scarf and situated my hat in such a way that I just stopped and smiled. I felt so welcomed and cared for. The food and service was also superb. Fresh, healthy and modern! The water was safe to drink and was always available. The viewing from the lodge itself was incredible. So many elephants, hippos and giraffes. Heaven on earth to be so close yet feel so safe.
The game drives were packed with up close viewing of all the animals you could imagine plus some! Our guide Levi was incredibly knowledgeable and was always teaching us something. He was experienced and knew what signals look for to find the animals. He would park the Jeep up close and personal for the best viewing.
I would definitely go back!

Mahali Mzuri is absolutely fantastic. I think the overwhelming experience is one of being deeply and personally looked after. The team there are quick to understand each persons specific needs and likes and create a personalized experience just for you
The location is simply unbeatable with breathtaking view. We spend 5 days at the camp and were simply spoilt. It was one of the most memorable holidays we've had in the Maasai Mara

The accommodation is pure luxury - large king sized beds, amazing balcony overlooking the valley and a luxurious bathroom with a bath like to other (with perfect views).

Food was good - both non veg and veg. It was my husband's birthday while we were there and they went our of their way to bake him a cake and make the occasion memorable.

My family and I had the most unreal and incredible stay at Mahali Mzuri. We spent 4 incredible days in the property doing daily game drives with our amazing guide John that was so patient and wonderful specially with my little one (age 8). We stayed in one of the two family tents which is perfect for families with kids. We still cant get over the rush of spotting giraffes, elephants and hippos right from our balcony, the pool and even while taking a bubble bath! Perched on a ridge right by a creek, the location is simply unbeatable for wild life sighting. As a vegetarian/vegan family we are used to always settling for pasta when we travel to more secluded places, but the chef did a great job preparing delicious and creative meals for us everyday - even for my son who is a very picky eater. It's also worth noting that the WiFi works well throughout the camp and we didnt have any issues catching up with work. It was definitely one of the most memorable trips of our lives and I cant recommend this property enough! PS. There are only 12 tents in the camp so it is very private and exclusive which we love, so it has a very raw and secluded feel, rather an over crowded resort style property.

Dear Zeebalife, Wow, where to begin? It was such a pleasure welcoming you and your lovely family to Mahali Mzuri and so we were delighted to receive your kind review. It sounds like our resident wildlife put on their best show for you, and we loved hearing all the places you enjoyed spotting them – the bubble bath is definitely up there in our favourite spots! John was so touched by your kind personal mention, so thank you; we always love welcoming little warriors to Mahali Mzuri and teaching them all the wonders of our beautiful landscape. Our head chef was also thrilled to hear that you thought the food during your stay was delicious, and that we were able to please even the most discerning diner. There’s nothing more special than hearing that our guests have made memories during their time with us and so to hear this was one of the most memorable trips of your life is such a huge compliment and means the world to us. Thank you for so kindly recommending us, we do hope that means we might be able to welcome you and your wonderful family back in the not too distant future too. My family and I recently stayed at Mahali Mzuri in August 2023 and it was absolutely amazing: the game viewing was exceptional and the hospitality of the Mahali Mzuri team was wonderful.

One of our highlights of our stay was the exceptional guiding by Betty and Diana. They were incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about wildlife and nature, and their enthusiasm was infectious. Our game drives were filled with incredible sightings. From majestic elephants to graceful giraffes and several prices of big cats, we were able to witness the diverse range of animals in the Masai Mara. With Betty’s skills, we even spotted an extremely rare black rhino in the wild. Betty and Diana were amazing with our children – they went out of their way to ensure they had a memorable and educational experience. They patiently answered their questions and taught them many things about the wildlife and the ecosystem.

The accommodations at Mahali Mzuri were comfortable and inviting. The camp provided a cosy and intimate atmosphere that allowed us to feel completely immersed in the beauty of the surrounding wilderness. The attention to detail in the design and maintenance of the camp was evident, creating a welcoming and relaxing environment for our stay.

The location of Mahali Mzuri added an extra layer of enchantment to our safari experience. Situated above the valley, overlooking the meandering river, the camp offers breathtaking views and a front-row seat to nature’s theatre. We had the privilege of witnessing a plethora of wildlife right from our private deck. We were fortunate enough to spot herds of elephants, giraffes, buffalo and wildebeest gracefully strolling along the riverbanks.

What sets Mahali Mzuri apart from other safaris in the Masai Mara is its location within a privately owned conservancy. This meant that we were not competing with other vehicles for wildlife sightings, allowing us exclusive and intimate encounters with nature.

The exceptional service provided by the entire staff at Mahali Mzuri deserves special recognition. Marianna, Leticia, chef and team were instrumental in ensuring our stay was nothing short of exceptional. They went above and beyond to make our time at the camp enjoying, arranging unforgettable experiences such as a visit to a Masai village and a thrilling hot air balloon ride. The team’s dedication to ensuring our comfort and satisfaction went above and beyond our expectations. Their genuine warmth and attentiveness made us feel like valued guests, and their efforts to create extraordinary experiences for us will forever be cherished.

Dear Monisha Thank you so much for this review, and I’m delighted you and your family had such a wonderful stay. It truly is an exceptional place and we are lucky to be in the Conservancy, so each sighting is more up close and personal. It’s also a pleasure to hear your feedback on the team, and I’ll be sure to pass it on. Reviews like this genuinely mean a lot to them. Betty and Diana are a credit to their profession – and are blazing a trail for female guides in the Mara! It was a pleasure to have you stay and we hope to see you again one day.

The safari experience at this resort is second to none. The game viewing on the conservatory is phenomenal with multiple opportunities to see the animals you desire. They allow offloading which allows you a close up view of many animals. Our driver, John, was great and catered the safari experience to our specific likes and dislikes. He was a wealth of knowledge as well.

The food and service were wonderful. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure you have a perfect experience. The chef is great and catered meals to our liking. The view from the dining area and bar area are perfect, allowing us to view animals every day while eating.

The camp is a luxury tent. It is nice with all the amenities you will need during your stay. With that said, there is no air conditioning at the resort. Many days were quite warm during the middle of the day and the tent became uncomfortably warm. There is an oscellating fan in the room but it didn't alleviate the warmth. The tent is made up of screens which do allow for good airflow at night. However, it can get noisy with the sounds of nature. A light sleeper may find it a little difficult to get a good rest. The game is run by generator and the power is turned off every night from 12am-4am. This didn't impact our stay but is worth noting.

Overall a great experience. We will be back.

Dear DreamaG, Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful comments. It’s such a treat for us to know that you had such a great experience at Mahali Mzuri and even better to know that you plan to return. I really appreciate all your feedback including your comments about the tent, we’re working hard to see if we can come up with a better alternative to the current fans we have in place, to further help alleviate the heat in the tents during the daytime. Therefore all constructive feedback on this is welcomed. I’ll be sure to pass on your lovely comments to the entire team including our guide John, who will be thrilled to hear he was able to make your game drives so memorable. Once again thank you so much and we’re already anticipating your next visit. Kind Regards, Wilson Odhiambo General Manager Wilson.Odhiambo@mahalimzuri.virgin.com

We enjoyed our stay, I felt at home. As a local, Kenyan traveler I didn’t feel like we were treated any less than the “other” travelers compared to other places I have traveled where we are bluntly discriminated upon. The rooms are comfortable, spacious, and even if we had issues with the water getting hot, the management team worked tirelessly to ensure it was fixed. As a vegan the chef Eddie went beyond to make sure I enjoyed the meals. The staff are exceptional, Johnstone, James, Joy, Marianne. Very professional! The only thing is housekeeping was very disconnected, and I feel he should have introduced himself to us and maybe customize our room to meet our needs.
The whole experience was superb and I am thankful to the staff who made our experience worthwhile. I don’t repeat destinations but this one is a must repeat with friends and the broader family. Ashe 🙏🏽

I have dreamed of going to Kenya for more than 3 decades. Ever since I saw “Out of Africa” and learned about Karen Blixen in the late 1980s Mahali Mzuri was well worth the long wait. I am eternally grateful to the staff for their generous hospitality and to our hawk eyed guides Levi and Jackson, for driving us throughout the conservancy so that we could watch prehistoric looking groups of giraffes, a pride of lions with maybe 10 playful chunky cubs, gorgeous elephants, cheetah, a leopard, hyena, zebra, gazelles & wildebeest… it was absolutely incredible. After your drives you can soak in luxury, meet Pam for a spa treatment, shop in the gift shop or devour delicious food with a view of resting hippos and animals peacefully grazing nearby. At turn down there is a hot water bottle placed on each bed, free laundry service and WiFi and the best smelling soaps and lotions. I felt so at home, 100% safe and will always carry this place in my heart. I am so grateful to Sir Richard Branson’s preservation of this wonderful savanna so that a woman from NYC with big dreams of going on safari could experience it, love it and learn from it. This place is magic.

Dear tracykE4186CU, We are incredibly humbled by your kind words and can’t thank you enough for sharing such a glowing review of your time at Mahali Mzuri. It really was our pleasure to host you and we thoroughly enjoyed creating magical moments throughout your stay, but even more so, we are overjoyed to hear how much everything exceeded your expectations. You were in excellent hands with Levi and Jackson on game drives, they really know the Mara like the back of their hand and always find the best spots to adventure – not that I need to tell you that, it sounds like you had some incredible sightings, not least with those cheeky, playful cubs! You’ll have to come back again and enjoy seeing them grow. It sounds like you struck the perfect balance between adventure and relaxation, and we’re delighted you made time to soak up the sounds and sights of camp, while enjoying delicious plates of food, moseying in our gift shop and visiting the wonderful Pam in our spa. We really do love what we do at Mahali Mzuri and take extreme pride in showcasing the many ways we care for and support our surroundings, and hearing how special and at home you felt with us has left us beaming with pride. Mahali Mzuri is truly a special place in this world. Given the challenging times we are all experiencing around the world currently, I think it’s even more important to focus on what really matters in life….family, friends, and our community, locally and globally, so I wanted to share this information.

My wife and I visited Mahali Mzuri and it was truly a life-changing experience (in a very positive way). When our trip was over and we came home, we actually did so with great new friends, who are part of the team at Mahali Mzuri. When our lives globally return to a normal reality, hopefully a better one for us all, I would strongly recommend visiting this amazing place if you can.

The property is located within the Olare Motorogi Conservancy to the North of Kenya's famous Maasai Mara National Reserve. The property is stunning and “the Mara” is absolutely breathtaking. The team that built the property did an outstanding job. Each luxury tent in the camp is perfectly located in front of breathtaking views of the valley, the river, and wildlife. The animals you see each morning and evening during your game drives are fantastic. They all roam wild and free (day and night) throughout the Conservancy, including the whole camp where you stay. They are protected by the Conservancy, and are under the care of the staff and the reserve rangers. All of Mahali Mzuri’s guides are extremely knowledgeable, fun to speak with and spend time with each day, and are always concerned about both the guest’s and wild animals’ safety. The daily game tours are a truly special experience in life, one that my wife and I will never forget. When you visit, don’t forget to bring a really good digital camera with a zoom lens, so you can capture photos and videos of everything you see.

The people working at Mahali Mzuri, as well as, the lovely Maasai people we met at the nearby village and school, are amazing, special, and authentically friendly people. They welcomed us into the camp (and village) and shared so much with us. I cannot express in words how special all these people are and how blessed we were to be able to meet them and share time and experiences with them for the few unforgettable days we were there.

True “wealth”...in my opinion, is having very good health (physically/mentally) and having the time to spend with our friends and family and collectively sharing amazing experiences. Mahali Mzuri and the lovely people there, are one of those amazing places and experiences to share with your family and friends.

When you make that exciting choice to visit Africa, and want to include an epic safari for a truly exceptional experience in all facets (scenery, friendly people, jaw-dropping wildlife), I highly recommend visiting the lovely people at Mahali Mzuri. You will have a remarkable time!

Mahali Mzuri was the first part of a bush and beach holiday.
Our first Safari was a superb holiday. I travelled with my husband and this was our first trip to Kenya for both of us. This lovely Virgin’s limited edition property is set in #Olare Motorogi Conservancy.

Rustom who was our safari consultant at #Safarinut discussed many options and we were very pleased with the chosen camp. He kept in touch and ensured we were looked after from the moment we landed at Nairobi to the time we caught our flights back to Rome. Our flight timings mean that we had to spend one night in Nairobi before catching a bush plane from Nairobi to the airstrip in the conservancy. We were picked up and welcome at the airstrip, having a lovely game drive seeing amazing wildlife everywhere. We spent three days in the conservancy and saw Lions, Zebras, Cheetahs, Elephants, Hippos, Hyenas and many antelopes – we also saw a Serval cat!

Mahali Mzuri is a luxury tented camp and the tents are very comfortable with a sleeping area and a lovely deck overlooking the valley where there is wildlife. There is also a mess area and a help yourself bar, a swimming pool, spa and shop. The food was outstanding and we could choose with chef Joshua what we wanted for the bush picnics.
The game drives were excellent and Levi our driver guide was very experienced and helpful.
We definitely will be back and want to explore more!

The camp is reallly well manage by an amazing staff: Mariana and Wilson the director are always available and helpful with the guests;
Wilson with his exclusive attentive service and the Chef Joshua with his delicious meals, and all the other staff made our stay feel in a family.

We thanks all of you for this memorable safari experience!

Dear Serena F, We’re over the moon you chose to start your Kenyan adventure with us at Mahali Mzuri – it sounds like you had quite the adventure reaching us, but it’s wonderful to hear that you embraced the experience and felt so well looked after from start to finish. There’s nothing we like more than finding ways to surprise and delight guests and it was our pleasure to kick off your trip with a glass of bubbly and your first game drive enroute to camp – you had some incredible sightings too. Thank you for sharing your feedback on the camp and we’re delighted everything was to your liking, from our luxury tents through to the stunning views; you really never tire of them, not least when enjoying some relaxation in the pool or at the spa. It’s also wonderful to hear how much you enjoyed the various plates of food our talented chefs created – Joshua is brilliant and he’s beaming with pride at receiving such lovely praise. We really loved hosting you and can’t thank you enough for giving Mahali Mzuri such a raving review, comments like these make all our hard work worthwhile. We hope you’re already planning a return visit – don’t leave it too long! Kind Regards, Wilson Odhiambo General Manager Wilson.Odhiambo@mahalimzuri.virgin.com

We have stayed 6 nights during 3 different visits. Six nights works great for us! And, we take our dinners on our porch! Exhausted after a tremendous day!!!!

"We hired a camera in the UK for the trip. 400mm on full frame is enough for animals/big birds. Non zoom lens is useful as you get so close!"
