Zebra Plains Mara Camp is small boutique luxury tented camp nestled in Maasai Mara Game Reserve, One of the world's best safari game viewing area and safari destination. We are in the middle of where actions take place and we know Mara very well with its wildlife; We will take care of your safari and camp's comfort experience while visiting us.
This is actually a fantastic hotel! I was pleased to notice that, even though they don't charge the thousands of dollars some of the luxury hotels do in the Masai Mara, they actually provide pretty much the same level of comfort. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We were here through Africa Kenya Safaris (AKS) I would have given 4,5 or 5 stars, if not for the unclarity of who was responsible for us staying here (Zebra Plains) instead of at the Zebra River camp which we booked through AKS, which does not have its own tripadvisor entry yet but is mentioned in some of the previous reviews. From what I understood from the Manager at Zebra Plains it seemed to be caused by their own organisation, with Zebra River being closed for maintenance. This was very unfortunate as we had planned to stay at the newer Zebra River camp, which has pool. Apart from that, great camp. We loved the family tent, food is good, they try to please the kids too, all staff are very friendly and try to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Showers are a bit of challenge sometimes with the water taking a very long time to get hot, and then balancing the temperature is not easy. Be aware that the camp is outside of the main reserve (but has a view into the reserve), and the drive to the gate, depending on the gate chosen, can be long, bumpy and boring. But that is typically the case for lodges in this budget range. …

We stayed at Zebra Plains Mara Camp for a duration of 4 nights in October'23. It was a very good experience, and one can clearly see the difference in staying at a smaller boutique camp vs. larger camps in Mara that cater to hundreds of guests. The good - the staff are amazing and kind; a special shout out to Frederik who served us meals everyday and was very friendly, compassionate and helpful. Also special thanks to Daniel the head chef who catered to our dietary requirements and made special meals for us which was very thoughtful of him. It was our daughters first birthday during the stay and the staff organized a lovely celebration for her to make the event memorable. Even though the camp is on the Talek side of the reserve (which means a rather long drive from NBO if traveling by road), bear in mind that the camp has an easy access to the park via the Zebra gate which is like a 5 minute drive away (we don't need to use the Talek gate to enter the park which is 20 minute drive away). Not many people know this and they think the camp is far from the gate. It is not the case if the exclusive Zebra gate is used. The area is game rich and we were treated to 3 leopard sightings in about 5 safaris. The ambience and overall comfort level of the lodge is lovely and it evokes a very relaxed atmosphere. What can be improved - the restaurant did not have a high-chair for babies which was a bummer because we had to carry our stroller back and forth from the room during meal times which was rather cumbersome. Hot water availability in the shower was sketchy and something the camp should look into. The room offered to us (H3) was quite different to what we see in pictures. The tent was simple but not luxurious as claimed. Not saying it was not comfortable or bad but in our minds, we had a different expectation. All in all, we would definitely go back for a stay, and it is a highly recommended property!…

Had a lovely night! The food was delicious and everyone was so very kind! After a full day in Maasai Mara, an easy and night was what we were looking for. The room was cozy, clean, and quiet. We had a great breakfast too and they sent a great lunch with us when we went back to the reserve the next day.

Ruth and the entire team, including Daniel and the waiting staff, are the soul of this place. The property is exceptional. It's as comfortable and classy as a safari experience can get. Watching the animals walking literally at the fence, sipping on an old fashioned, was just amazing. The wifi was a bit weak but we didn't care. Thank you for the incredible birthday celebration. I will always remember it. The warmth and attentiveness of the people at Zebra Plains made this a once in a lifetime memory for us. And the best birthday I've had in a long long time. Thank you, and we will come again.

This was better than we expected. The staff is extremely nice and accommodating. The camp is extremely clean. We stayed in the savannah tent which was very spacious and essentially was built like a proper structure. The only regret is that we didn't stay longer. On the check out, I had left my kindle in my room. We had breakfast before we left and the staff was able to get my kindle to me before we left. Just the best staff ever.

The hotel is nicely immersed in nature with beautiful fire camps. Service was very nice, everyone ensuring that you have a great stay at the hotel. Tents are large with a lot of comfort. The problem was that you can hear everyone talking, opening the zips because there is no sound isolation. (Nights were complicated).

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night visit at Zebra Plains! Staff was kind and courteous. Beds are comfortable. Afternoons were warm in our tent with no fans, but nights were comfortable. Hot showers! Daily housekeeping and turn down service where they sprayed for mosquitoes, closed the window flaps and spread the netting around the beds. Don't plan on WiFi, it is spotty at best. Location was good for safari in Masai Mara. Gate to park was about 1 km away. There was a watering hole adjacent to the dining area and animals visited there. 2 bonfire areas with comfortable seating. Food was fresh and delicious. Servers reviewed the available dishes and served them family style. We tried everything and were never disappointed. 2 picnic breakfasts packed for our game drives were delicious with coffee, juice, pancake, egg, fruit and yoghurt. David and Samuwel were wonderful servers. Our tent was a long walk from the common area. This was good for us after long vehicle rides, but could be challenging if you have any difficulty walking.…

We stayed here in Oct 23 for 2 nights and 3 days. Our tent was spacious and the camp was really pretty with great views. Spotted Lions, zebras, giraffes, gazelles from our breakfast table in the main area. Emanuel was our server for both days and was very attentive and helpful. I requested vegetarian meal and chef made sure I had options to choose from. The food was good and the ambience in the evening after a long day of safari. In short a blissful stay, we would love to visit again sometime in the future.
