Came here for a 1-night transit as part of my safari tour. Simple budget accommodation on a busy street in the city. Didn't venture out as not sure if it is safe, but luckily hotel restaurant on the 2nd floor is very good! Do get a window seat, have a tusker beer and enjoy your dinner while you overlook the street downstairs.. lots of street stalls and many locals walking around.

It was an average hotel in a very busy and crowded location. Staffs are good and very helpful. Mr. Luke is exceptionally good and always checked with me if I need anything and my stay with them is comfortable. They have a decent restaurant that serve international foods and drinks. Breakfast is simple and adequate.

Cleans rooms, but the beddings are old and torn. The overall ambience of the rooms is okay. Curtains are dusty, blanket and pillow smell aweful and stuffy. The staff are generally freindly and helpful.

Imagine falling into the hands of an airport taxi driver who charged you $100 for a $15 ride at 2AM, cooked up various stories to ensure you don't get to the hotel of your choice but instead took you to Dicasa hotel because of an agency arrangement he has with the hotel. Thereafter, the hotel that was supposedly built to satisfy customers connived with the taxi driver to charge you $300 for a 7-day stay (instead of $140 - $150 max). The story doesnt end here.

The following morning, you woke up to have breakfast, and the receptionist advised you to carry your laptop bag along with you "for safety purposes". You immediately discovered that the hotel is not safe because of that statement, pack your bags to leave (after spending just one night), and the hotel decided to charge you almost $145 for the one night stay to cover "agency fees that you weren't informed of from the onset, and cancellation fee". That was my experience at Dicasa Hotel, Nairobi on Sunday, 4th July, 2021.

Key points.
1. you don't want to stay in this hotel. it is not safe
2. whenever you are in Kenya, use the network at the airport to book an uber to your destination.
3. if you have to ride with an airport taxi, dont believe any story they tell you. It is all for the hotel commission they will get and the high fees for rides. And negotiate your cab fee before the journey to your hotel begins. And like I said, go to the hotel of your choice irrespective of the story, especially at odd hours of the night.

I usually stay in Decasa hotel when in Nairobi because of its proximity to the central business district and also price.

On February 13 2016 I checked in to the hotel. I went out the next day and came back to find my apple laptop, my backup drive containing 15 years of my life's work and $2000 missing from my room. Before leaving for town I locked my door and handed the key to the reception. Hotel refused to compensate me with even a cent.

Upon arrival we were charged ksh 3500 not 2800 which was our booked price per night, we showed proof then. Advised staff next day showing proof again & asking for manger, issued was fixed the 3rd day, wouldn't give a receipt. We used their laundry service & was over charged (they verified), yet not refunded. Item taken out room cabinet & placed in laundry dirty (never washed) for more money, advised housekeeper I know what she done & she said it was mistake. 3rd day locked items in cabinet placing bag over, which was tapered with & locks were scratched (tampered with). Added more locked (4total). FRIDAY, found head housekeeper picking the lock off of cabinet her male counterpart did not want to let us in room chased us up stairs & stated they couldn't clean yet we caught them in our room trying to steal our stuff, actually in the act of breaking our locks, using tools & key rings with 100 keys (hotel room keys fit, yet didn't unlock). We asked for police to be called at 4pm. Brought another man said he was the manager, yet didn't know the position of 2 people who called themselves owners. They spoke in a different languages so we couldn't understand, asked multiple times to speak englsh. Owners/ managers refused, also wouldn't call the police & they all so stated we can't report them to booking, threatening to dispose of (kill) us, if given bad rating, then tried to make us leave with unidentified man to go to police station said to be 3 metres way at 9pm. Which was a lie Google map verified, He & they also stated we are asking for trouble & here in kenya reporting their business will end badly for us. We recorded everything on our cell phones cameras to share with our lawyers, booking.com, trip advisory & the news station here in Africa. They are aware we were recording as well at during some of it, which made them angry. They all also refused to give us any of their names, titles positions, or info we could use to report this properly. We called for special personal transportation the 20th (same night) left the motel fearing for our lives before 10pm.

Decasa is a great budget hotel right in the heart of Nairobi. I stayed there twice recently. It is very clean and the rooms are nice-even the smallest single room, although quite small, was nicely appointed. But it is the staff that really stands out. They were super helpful and pleasant. Ouma, the general manager, made sure I had everything I needed, and even went so far as to have one of his managers walk with me to my bus stop 10 minutes away (since it is easy to make a wrong turn with few street signs). If you are
arriving or departing by bus, it is a great, convenient option.

Decasa hotel is situated on River Road, a lively part of downtown Nairobi. This budget hotel is great value for money considering the easy access to the CBD as well as most many popular entertainment venues, the rooms are very well maintained and the housekeeping team demonstrated unique and highly valued customer support skills. I stayed in a triple room which was quite spacious and comfortable. Room facilities include a big shower head with hot and cold water, mirror, free fast wifi flat screen TVs with Al Jazeera and sports channels and a very comfortable queen size bed. Clean, customised white bed sheets are appreciated. The hotel never advisertised air conditioning as part of its facilities, and AC is really unnecessary in Nairobi for most of the year anyway. The restaurant on the first floor has a wide selection of dishes prepared by competent chefs, Buffet breakfast is impressive. As with most downtown neighbourhoods, noise in the evenings is sometimes a concern, and the use of the hotel's conference hall by a Christian church may exacerbate such noise for some guests. Overall, if you plan a trip to Nairobi in a safe, new, decent hotel close to the CBD for less than $US70 per night, you will appreciate the services of this well managed hotel

Clean room, well made bed, clean bathroom and hot water. The restaurant was basic but reasonably priced and decent selection. The food was good.
For the price the Decasa is good. It was quiet enough and safe.
One very positive thing was the yuck reply to emails by the staff. Also they arranged airport transfer and the driver was on time with a sign board.
I would recommend you use the hotel for transfers since the hotel is not well known. I am going to have a short stay in Nairobi in a few months and plan on staying again.
