What a lovely hotel. An oasis of serenity and calm. Beautiful gardens, well maintained pool. Good food and good choice of restaurants. What really makes it though is the quality of service and the friendliness of the staff. My only criticism was the price of a glass of wine, which was extremely high. Almost twice the cost of the same at the Serena or the Norfolk. I brought this up with management though, and they promised to review.
I will return.

I’ve stayed at many hotels and Fairview is frankly one of the most pleasant I’ve experienced. Over three separate stays here, the service was consistently good and the hotel itself was charming and delightful. It’s also slightly different to many city centre accommodations.

Most rooms are set out in a campus fashion, with their own front door, amid extensive well-kept gardens and connected by winding paths, which lend a sense of fun and mystery to the place. There are three restaurants and a lovely looking pool (unfortunately we were on business and never had the chance to dip in!)

Over our 3 stays we took both chalet rooms and also rooms within the main building: all were beautifully presented and felt good quality. They were well appointed too, with personal safe, coffee machine and kettle, good a/c, decent wifi, very comfortable beds, and plenty of workspace, sockets etc.

Breakfast was good and served à la carte to enable social distancing.

Safety and security is also taken seriously here: vehicle checks at the gate (the hotel is opposite the Israeli embassy) and then temperature checks and baggage sanitisation in an ante-zone before you go through a further secure gate into the hotel proper. All staff (and guests) seemed to abide by the rule of wearing masks while out and about, and there was plenty of hand sanitiser on offer.

The staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming, and very kindly arranged for various late check-outs and welcomed our visitors etc efficiently and reliably.

In short, Fairview felt like an oasis of calm and serenity amid Nairobi’s noise and bustle. I’d quite happily just hang around there for several days without leaving. I’d thoroughly recommend it.

I have held two conferences at Fairview Hotel. I would recommend this place for everything.

Their staff is amazing at ensuring you have a great experience whether your are a business guest or tourist. An amazing place to hold a conference and feel rejuvenated by the gardens and greenery at the same time. We actually held our event in large tents on one of their lawns, tested folks for COVID every morning and used masks. This is a rarity to find this kind of facility in Nairobi.

Their food is healthy and I love that they use recylcable/reusable glass water bottles, that the staff does collect and reuse at the hotel. That saves so much in plastic waste.

Even when I am putting on the conference, I feel like I am going on a retreat when I am at the Fairview. So, if even I can feel relaxed while on site, I know that others will have a great time there as a base to catch your safari or conduct other business in Kenya.

I stayed in room 210 Four days, a very nice room with WiFi, several sockets, lighting is perfect, TV in the room with many channels you get a channel of your choice which enabled me to watch a football march comfortably. Fresh cold and hot water in the room, sanitation is excellent. It is in the middle of a garden, well secured with grill doors thus security is guaranteed. The special treatment you receive right from the main gate, at the reception, the restaurant, conference room, pool side etc makes you feel like a king. Fairview Hotel, Upper Hill Nairobi is the place to visit. Joram mutsotso

The 10 days passed too quickly in this great hotel. All aspects were good or excellent. The room, services, safety, etc. The personal was so friendly and willing to work and help. One of the strongest points of this house.
Breakfast offers a great variety of food. For later, there are various restaurants inside the hotel that also offer meals for every taste, served by friendly personal. Sometimes there was also music at the pool restaurant in the evening.
Not to forget the handy little store that is part of the hotel and last but not least the beautiful well-cured gardens.
Hard to write something critical to this hotel... Well, I was lucky. Shortly before Christmas the hotel had just a few guests.
The position of the house is also pretty ideal because it's relatively near to the center of the city of Nairobi.

I feel safe and pampered at the Fairview. Vehicles are checked when they enter the secured parking lot, and luggage is checked before it enters the hotel. The breakfast buffet is varied and delicious with a cook-to-order station. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The staff is attentive. There are several outdoor cafes on property, and 5 cats that stroll the grounds and don’t beg for food. The hotel was built in the early 1900’s and has been updated several times without losing the charm. The grounds are like a botanical garden. I love it here!

The hotel is located on an upper area near the CBD. The surroundings are quiet and safe, and I was walking everyday to work from there.
The hotel enforced mandatory masks for all staff and guests, and I was happy to see everyone was complying with that.
Staff is very gentle, caring and polite. Always available at any time of day and night.
The complimentary breakfast was served “a la carte” due to the pandemic, but the choice was quite large and all products fresh. From the juice to the pastries.
The restaurant represent a good compromise if you don’t want to get out in town.

We are regular visitors to Kenya with a place near Nanyuki. Whenever we come with friends for a visit, we stay for the first couple of nights at The Fairview in order to help them get over the time change a bit and to see some of the usual sights in the city. As always this time the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The service is genuinely sincere and friendly and positive. Our guests were just delighted, and they are all experienced travellers.

This trip the GM, Stefan, suggested we have a private dinner in the hotel’s wine cellar. (We were a group of 9.) At first we were a bit skeptical but a quick tour and a meeting with the Chef convinced us to give it a try. And what a great decision this was! The arrangement is “family style” dining, meaning the staff bring in, with appropriate fanfare and flair, each of the courses one after another and set the dishes on the table. They offer two three course menus, each with two entrees as part of the main course. The food was excellent and plentiful. At no time did we feel rushed by the staff. The ambience was charming, with lots of candles and lanterns. The entire evening was first rate and lots of fun. And, quite frankly, it was very reasonably priced. I recommend you investigate this as an option if you are staying at the hotel or if you are a resident of the Nairobi and are looking for an interesting dining experience with the family or a small group of friends. 10 out of 10!

This is my 5th stay here. Always a favorite. It is located in a very quiet neighborhood despite being so close to the city. There are beautiful grounds to walk about in, which I enjoy after the long flights. Staff are very friendly and helpful. On this visit, I was in room #1 which I think has been my favorite room of any stays. It overlooks the waterfalls of the gardens so at night, the sound was very relaxing. The room was larger than previous rooms, and even had a small dining table and chairs to sit at. It also looked like there was an air conditioner high up by the ceiling.

It was extremely quiet during this stay due to the pandemic. All safe protocols were followed. At breakfast, instead of picking your own foods, you tell them what you would like and they bring it to your table. As always, the food was great.

In the evening, my tour operator, Amazing Memories Safaris treated me to a birthday dinner at the Mukutan restaurant at the hotel. I had a pizza which was delish. They also brought me a special and yummy birthday cake.

Staying two nights here is a great way to get over jet lag, acclimate to the climate and run some errands to my favorite places Karen Hub, Kazuri, David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and Matbronze

What an exceptional place to stay. You are treated like royalty from the moment you walk through the door. The room was exceptionally comfortable, clean with everything I needed. The staff were exceptionally friendly, caring and always ready and willing to tend to every need. The four restaurants provided a taste lover's paradise and the luscious gardens provide a quiet, relaxing space to enjoy an excellent meal after a long, busy day. Safety is top priority. The hotel shop has everything you need and is a lovely place to buy gifts.
I felt extremely sad when I had to leave. They will definitely see me again.

We loved the Fairview Hotel. It was our first night in Nairobi and though there were like no one else on the property because of covid, the restaurant was open and served great food. The hotel was fully operational and the staff was magnificent. No hesitation on staying there again (in fact we will be this coming September).
