I have stayed at the InterContinental Nairobi for a one-night stopover in January. The hotel is well located opposite the Parliament and well secured with armed forced guards and military patrolling the premises. As a guest, this is a crucial aspect while choosing a hotel and gave me a sense of security through my short stay. The check-in process was smooth, fast and professional.

The standard room was well equipped and of a decent size; the bed was comfortable, and the housekeeping team prompted responded to my request for an antiallergic pillow within minutes. The bathroom is pretty small, offering a bathtub (unfortunately with curtain) and no bidet; amenities are also of a good range and well presented.

I had dinner at the main restaurant 'Terrace'; the buffet offered a good selection of starters, main courses and desserts. The chef behind the live cooking station was helpful, able to interact politely and to suggest different dishes. Service was professional and attentive. Breakfast at the same location was also excellent, although the service was unorganised with many different waiters approaching the table and not be able to deliver a cup of coffee on time. Check-out was also okay, although the front desk staff seems to be distracted and not equal good as the arrival experience. The private chauffeur to the airport was also a pleasant experience. Overall a very good stay with only a few service glitches; however, I am planning to stay again at the hotel during my next trip in Nairobi.

In breakfast more veg items should be made available. The taps in the room toilets be replaced, they waste much water. Mobile charging points near the bed is must now a days.
Hope you will consider the suggestions.

I loved the breakfasts at the Intercontinental! Kanana made my omelettes just as I like them and there was a large variety of food, including a smoothie bar. I also enjoyed fresh coconut, watermelon and orange juice! The staff was always amazing and attentive throughout the hotel and everyday during my 11-day stay from passing a staff member in the halls, to the valet and security staff - all very welcoming. The hotel could benefit from an upgrade to make it a bit more modern, but I will stay here again when I come back to Kenya. All my drivers to meeting, etc., were great, but 2 are worth mentioning: Johnson Thuku maneuvered the heavy traffic in Nairobi very well and Anthony Mwai was super attentive and had wifi in his car. Highly recommend.

I have to remark that this hotel has the friendliest staff I've come across at a hotel. My husband and I spent two weeks in Nairobi, and can honestly say the staff is what made this location somewhere I'd want to return too. They are extremely attentive and go out of their way to ensure guests are comfortable, feel welcome, and have all they need. In addition they mix a great drink. Thanks Sharon, Rebecca and Milton for the wonderful time we had here.

We stayed 5 days and it was very pleasant. The staff of the hotel is great, they always are very friendly and helpful in all regards. I would rate the service level as very high and customer oriented. E.g. my AC was broken one day and within minutes someone came and rested the AC.
The breakfast buffet is wonderful, all you need and more. I enjoyed especially the fresh squessed juices.
The building is old but taken good care of. The spa in my pinion however is too old and I only used it once.

Stayed for 5 days whilst at a conference. Room was very spacious and bathroom clean. Windows could be more sound proof - especially with music outside. Staff are very attentive, potentially too attentive meaning you’re frequently asked if you’re ok / they can get you something. Breakfast has a whole range of options, limited vegan options available on hand, but apparently you can ask the chef to make something - I survived with what was available. Used hotel taxi service which was very professional and reliable.

I stayed at the InterContinental for eight nights during my trip to Nairobi. The hotel is located in the CBD (Central Business District), which makes it close to many other hotels, restaurants, and the University. The hotel is very secure - everyone is checked upon arrival. The rooms are very spacious, clean, and are stocked with water daily. I had access to the Club Room, which is a MUST. The staff and food are outstanding, which can also be said for the spa staff. Everything met or exceeded our expectations, especially for the price. The only con is that if you are going to get driver from the hotel, be ready to haggle for the price and be sure to confirm with the driver/hotel staff. I don't think this has anything to do with the hotel staff, but rather the drivers/company themselves.

Great hotel and staff tries but here are some of the irritants that keep this rating down

1) Main restaurant supposedly opens at 6 am. Well it opens but the food and grill are about 15 minutes behind. Open at 6:30 if you can’t really open at 6.

2) service for food at Makuta bar extremely slow. Only twice did I not tip the entire trip. Both times because service and food delivery extraordinarily slow. Week end service the pits.

3) Bell captain station. Ordered a car for next day, tipped the bellman. No car scheduled when time came to go to a business appointment.

4) Wall switch in room for lights has a short in it. Never fixed.

5) inconsistent time for room cleaning. I understand needing to clean vacated rooms for new arrivals. However, no way to anticipate when room would be cleaned. Twice I had the night attendant arrive to do turn down service within an hour of room cleaning.

I always choose the Intercon in Nairobi simply because of the excellent staff. From the concierge to the check-in to the room service and the restaurants, the customer interactions are always the best. I feel like I'm at home and will continue to return.
I would like to commend Jacob, George and Linet for going above and beyond!
I would also like to thank the staff for commemorating my 80th stay with a dinner voucher and a cake treat. Asante Sana!
