Detailed Reviews
I stayed at Homecare Karen Retreat Centre with a group of friends from New Zealand for a few weeks stay when we were based in Nairobi. This place is an incredible gem. The staff were wonderful, very welcoming and hospitable. The food was delicious with big portion sizes that kept you full. The gardens were beautiful, lush and green. Accommodation was clean and tidy with a nice comfortable bed. Mosquito net provided. Lots of nice African art around the room and buildings. Plenty of water purifiers around so getting clean water was never a problem. Reliable wifi internet available. Washing facilities and clotheslines available to do laundry. Safe and secure. We were able to leave luggage stored while we were away on safari and other places. If you need a place to stay in Nairobi, I would definitely recommend this place.

+1
The Homecare Retreat Center has been recently renovated and it is now stunning! The rooms are so inviting and comfortable and feature artisan made lighting, decor, textiles, and more from Kenya. It is an impact hotel as well as a prayer retreat center. When you stay there, the proceeds help fund the nonrprofit empowerment programs in Kibera for women and children. Irene, the manager, makes you feel like family. I had a group of 12 stay there for 6 nights, and no one wanted to leave! We all loved it so much and felt at home. The food was also so delicious. Irene also connected us with a great local transportation travel service that helped coordinate all our locate excursions. The retreat center is also extremely affordable for being in such a prime location. You can wander the gardens anytime, there is indoor and outdoor dining, meeting rooms, and lots of areas for lounging, reading, praying, etc. Really, this is such a special place to stay for a solo prayer retreat, peaceful stay, or small group conference.

A place of tranquility, peace and where your soul is nourished both by the amazing food and incredible love that exudes from the staff; who genuinely care and show God's love in abundance to guests. The facilities are beautifully kept and the garden feels like a piece of Eden where one can sit and enjoy being in God's creation.
We arrived as strangers and left as friends who did not want to depart.

We spent two weeks here as a family as part of a larger group of 35 people who stayed for a month. Homecare is such a fantastic place to retreat to in amongst the hustle and bustle of Nairobi. We really couldn't have asked for more. There was a fantastic variety of tasty food, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, and they were very accommodating of our toddler. The facilities were clean and no request was too much for the team at Home Care . As others have mentioned Irene the manager became like another Mother to our group. We were sad to say farewell. I highly recommend a visit to Home Care

It was quite easy to book . Hospitable staff who made the stay very enjoyable. The place had beautiful gardens, huge trees, well manicured lawns that provided a great place to just take a breathe. The room was clean, beautifully furnished and the hot shower amazing. The food was healthy and nourishing for the soul. The prices....fantastic. it met all my expectations for a momcation.

From Dr Joyce Oigara, Dec 2013
I spent with family at the retreat centre over the weekend , a very good location with serine environment in Karen, away from all the town pressures. Spacious rooms and friendly staff. Food is fresh. You feel at home in within a christian family, and value for money.
The only improvement is for the management, to add more staff to carter for big teams as the 3 staff present ( Lynnet and team) got overwhelmed with our team of 19.
Also if you have young kids you need to plan for activities because the location has good grounds but not well prepared to engage children activities.

This is a simple guest house stayed there with a group of friends must say its a value for money since you don't pay much but what you get is a lot. The service is great and leaves up to the name of home care. The grounds are also very serene lots of space to be yourself. Rooms are spacious and clean enough. The food is average but you really can't complain. If on a budget would certainly stay there again or in a group looking for a cheap getaway.

Carol, Teresiah, Joyce, Mary, Dino and the rest of the staff at the Homecare Karen Retreat Centre will make you feel as though you are completely at home in this beautiful place. The staff is one of, if not the best part of staying here. They are all extremely helpful, full of smiles, lovely and caring. They will take great care of you, serve you wonderful meals, and make you feel most welcome.
The facility itself is fastidiously maintained and located on idyllic and serene gardens. Room size and appointments greatly vary - recommend selecting a 2nd level room with an en suite bathroom.
