Positive: Christ prepares freshly made-to-order Oh My delicious concoctions of juices and smoothies at breakfast. Christ gets Excellent excellent customer service rating from me. In general, hotel staffs are very nice and accommodating. Customer service is on point. The hotel is nicely decorated with many interesting sculptures. Security team is super helpful and tight. I accidentally kick-dial security and hung up, but they called me back within 2 seconds to check up on me. Eric is amazing and always make you feel super safe. Kaya Spa is great. Services are reasonably priced, great customer services, massages and coffee scrubs are so good, highly recommended. Look for Ann at the spa reception and she will make sure that you get the best spa experience.

Neutral: breakfast is limited and has minimal variation. Got the essentials: egg station, bacon/sausage, pancake/crepe, some sort of vegetable, rice/beans, cold ham and turkey, bread station, juice station, and sweet station.

Negative: Guest rooms are outdated. There is no separation between the bed and the bathroom, you can literally touch the tub while in bed. The minifridge is tiny, can’t even fit a small left over carry out box. Electricity is finicky. During my 3 weeks at the hotel, they lost power many times, I woke up to no AC and a room that smelled like mold and toilet. Water pressure is a headache. It’s almost impossible to have 1 proper shower where the water temperature stays bearable. Due to water pressure problems, the water temperature would go from warm, to boiling hot, then to freezing cold all by itself without you adjusting the temperature. Be real careful when you shower.

My stay was great, the staff were very friendly and always willing to help. They had smiles on their faces all the time. I requested for a room with a bathtub and my room was changed at the earliest availability. The breakfast menu could be diversified to include porridge.

The location of Tribe, with its convenience to Village Market is wonderful. The only thing that beats the location is the staff. From the guards who led the way on the staircase to Village Market, to the cleaning staff, front desk staff, and meeting facility staff, everyone was very helpful. I would highly recommend the Tribe for both business and personal travel.

Beautiful building and jungle feel to hotel. Our room was very clean, spacious and looked better than photos. It was a nice touch that all mini bar items were complimentary and wrapped chocolates were left on the bed with each clean. Some staff around the hotel and Jiko restaurant were very friendly and service was good at the restaurant.
Despite these positives, there are a few negatives that definitely stand out. Firstly we didn’t realise on booking that our room was at a room only rate and on check in we weren’t advised of this and told that breakfast is between 6-10am. On arrival to breakfast next morning they took my room number and when I sat down I further clarified with the waitress what the set up was for breakfast. She took my room number again and said that it was a menu to choose from and in the meantime to help myself to the buffet. When picking from the menu she said I could have anything I wanted off the menu. I proceeded to ordering a breakfast of a few items and a couple of coffees as well as helping myself to juice and a few pieces of fruit. At the end I was presented with a bill of 3500ksh to pay and I was surprised as from what I had been made to understand so far was that breakfast was included in our rate. The communication was extremely poor with respect to this and information was given to make us think breakfast was infact included. When we went to speak to reception about this they apologised giving us an excuse and said they would speak to the manager and let us know the outcome. We had no further communication about this. We expect more from a supposedly 5* establishment.

Very nice boutique hotel. The lobby has a lovely high ceiling, and there are many african art pieces decorating almost all areas of the hotel. Being located within the same commercial property as the Village Market Mall (same owners) was a big plus, including amenities such as free entry to the VMX gym within the mall, the largest in city. As hotel guests, you can sign up for free to the many daily exercise sessions at VMX. I ended up trying a spinning class.

The hotel is also located within a secure diplomatic area, with the UN office, US embassy, and other embassies nearby. I found it safe walking around the Gigiri area where several restaurants, spas and even a padel court can be found.

I found the hotel staff responsive to our several requests such as rush ironing of clothes and extra bottled water. What I really appreciated was when I brought to front desk's attention the construction noise from one of the hotel rooms across the hall. Construction work seemed to have immediately stopped after that and until the day we checked out.

The only minor irritation is the seemingly duplicate bag checks when you walk back to the hotel from the mall. There is a pedestrian gate you must pass through where a guard will manually check your bags and then about 15 meters down a flight of stairs is the guarded hotel lobby entrance where your bags will pass through an xray machine to be checked again. Though I appreciate the circumstances why there are strict security measures in most commercial establishments in Nairobi, I found this to be excessive.

An added bonus are the bicycles available for guests to use when going to sights around the area. Many thanks to Carmeline of the Guest Relations team for arranging my guided bike tour of the nearby Karura Forest Park. Special mention to Brett for accompanying me to and from the park during our almost 4-hour adventure.

This was an excellent hotel but the check-in and check out process was a pain. When we arrived it was early in the morning and so we just wanted to drop our bags and if they were able to get us one or two rooms to take a nap that would be good. After waiting an hour at the desk, they still couldn’t give us a straight answer so we left our bags and went to visit family. We came back at 2pm and the rooms were still not ready. We did eventually get our rooms and they were nice. Free wifi and excellent included breakfast, unlimited bottles of water and sodas in the minibar. The power outlets worked for all types of plugs including USB-A. My only complaint about the rooms was the lack of privacy in the bathroom. It had a rolling transparent mildly frosted glass rolling door. So you could see everything of someone taking a shower and hear everything in the toilet. If someone used the toilet at night the lights had to be off or it woke everyone up. But the bar had a great atmosphere and excellent cocktails. They had delicious Indian chai. I would recommend this hotel.

When I arrived at the Tribe hotel the staff was very friendly and supportive. The room provided was very nice but unfortunately a generator was running under the window, Not so nice. When I mentioned this fact to the receptionist, I was immediately offered an other room, which was not easy for the staff because the hotel was almost fully booked. The room was not as nice as the first one offered but quiet. I slept well and spoke to another receptionist in the morning who was able to offer me a very nice room which was at the same time quiet. In this room I stayed until the end of my trip. I was very satisfied. All the staff was always very friendly and supportive. The rooms I have seen were all very clean. The food offered for lunch was very good. The breakfast could be improved. Especially the bread offered. I will never understand why most hotels have problems in offering good bread even though it is easy to make it or to find locally. A wieder selection of cheeses would be nice for breakfast. Overall, everything is very good but there is still room for improvement.

Tribe Hotel is truly a 5 star experience! The moment you walk in, you’re welcomed into a beautiful picture perfect space, reflective of the culture. The rooms were spacious and clean, the AC was refreshing, and amenities like robes, toiletries, etc were readily available.

The staff is truly unbeatable! They were friendly, helpful, and patient. There was no request too big or too small. Winfred, Monica, Cindy, Cornelius, and Samora provided excellent service from helping me choose the right room type for my needs to weighing my luggage to ensure an easy airport transition. It was truly the small things that made the service great.

The restaurant, Jiko was also top quality. After 5 nights, I’ve tried nearly everything on the menu and have not been disappointed once. I highly recommend the seafood tower and the dessert Samosas.

Beautifully appointed hotel with sensational service!

Tribe has recently undergone significant renovation and is in the final stages with the pool area and gym still being constructed. Nevertheless you are accomodated at their sister hotel trademark which is only a short walk away or you can take the shuttle arranged by the hotel.

The hotel overall is beautifully furnished with niche, African themed interior decor but the staff are a stand out. Samora and the reception team make check-in a breeze and you are greeted with warm smiles each day and a personalised approach to your stay.

The rooms again are spacious, modern and have all the expected amenities. The beds are super comfortable and the rooms are well lit throughout which is often an issue in many hotels. The nightly turn down service and chocolates as mentioned in many reviews are delicious!

Breakfast at the Jiko is excellent and the ambience is second to none, I'd expect it to be even more special once the pool area is complete.

The only point of concern is the dampness and associated smell in the corridors leading up to the room which is likely to be water draining down from the outside areas and being soaked by the carpet.

Overall an excellent stay and a truly 5 star experience.

The staff at this hotel deserves a 5 star! Very friendly and helpful. I actually felt quite sad when I checked out cause I know I would miss their friendly faces.

Location wise, the hotel is situated right next to an exclusive mall, with many food choices. The security is good at the hotel and I felt very safe.

The breakfast is tasty and good! And every evening, they will give each room a small bar of chocolate which is really yummy!

My only complain is that my room (106) is right on top of the bar. On Friday night, it was quite "happening" with music and people partying. But the music and party stopped at 12 midnight sharp.

Thank you Tribe for a memorable stay in Nairobi!

Guide for city tour or guide for safari? We went to safari with Porini for 12 days and in the return journey has to stay in Nairobi for two nights. Porini charged me $200 for whole day taxi and driver. He took us around the city, and I asked him to take us to reptile park as we didn’t see mambas in the wild. Following day same porini arranged one way drop off to airport. We are very happy with hotel, services from Porini and Kenyans in general
