1 - forgot to collect from airport after reconfirming 3 hours earlier 2 - room not cleaned and no drinking water 3 - breakfast barely exists and service slow when it finally appears 4 - disputed at check-out that bill was half pre-paid despite having a receipt from the hotel and sullen 5 - forgot due to take back to airport despite having reconfirmed at breakfast 3 hours earlier and sullen 6 - suddenly claim credit cards not accepted so a forced trip to ATM on the way to the airport Location in a fairly rugged part of town quite some distance from most restaurants. Comfortable bed with AC, but SO not worth all the hassle throughout three days. Avoid, on this experience.
The first plus is that you are collected for free from the airport and despite it being almost 1AM staff were there to collect me as promised. It is centrally located although with taxis cheap and plentiful getting around town is easy. The room was of a standard expected for the price and clean with everything functional although personally I would have preferred not to have to climbed two floors to get there, there not being a lift. The staff were friendly and despite there not being a lot of English spoken (this is french speaking Africa) they more than made up for this by a willingness to help. I did eat eat in the restaurant and did not find the service untimely, also I enjoyed the opportunity to eat local food. I would eat there again.
A cheap hotel with basic facilities near large local market in NW portion of town 4km from airport. Hotel a bit rundown but generally clean. One of cheaper hotels in brazzaville. Fine for a day or two.
The Résidence Hôtelière de Moungali is a pretty good hotel in the heart of Brazzaville where I stayed with a friend for three days. I had a large room with a big bathtub. It is a clean hotel with an impeccable service. The manager is particularly professional. He contacted me a couple of days before our stay to arrange a pick up from the airport. I told him we were coming from Kinshasa. He immediately proposed to pick us up from there. I agreed. A charming young woman came to pick us up at the "beach" (where the boats from Kinshasa arrive). Once at the hotel, the manager in person came to greet us. We were pleased. However, I must tell you that the hotel restaurant is not so good. On the first day, just after our arrival, we ordered a few dishes. A kind receptionist told us that we had time for a walk while the cook prepared the food. We followed her advise. We left. We visited the area. There were hundreds of small shops, most of them selling the same clothes. After one hour, we came back to the restaurant, thinking our food was waiting for us. We were mistaken. We had to wait for thirty or forty more minutes to see something. And when it came we were disappointed because the chicken was so hard I couldn't eat it and my friend, a Congolese man, struggled a lot too. In other words, I don't advise you to eat at the hotel. And I would like to suggest the good manager to do something about that. Thank you.…
