Recently stayed in Gold Rooms on The 27th Floor of this amazing Hotel, loved everything about this Royal Hotel. From the bloke on Check in counter SULTAN to the assistant Ali, staff were Simply Amazing and Very Very Helpful. They even upgraded us to the Signature Suite (HARAM VIEW) as well at No Extra Cost. Speedy lifts are quick to take You to the Haram within No Time. Breakfast was Very Good. I would Recommend staying on Gold Floors, with Added Room Service and Tea time Buffet snd Evening Buffet included in the Room Rate. I am Uploading some Photos for My Readers as well for some help. All in All you get what You pay basically, I couldn’t fault this hotel in any Department and will surely go back to stay in Fairmont inshallah when back in the Holy city of Makkah.

While the lobby is beautifully, I would say the rooms are starting to look a bit “tired”. The black out curtains did not join at the top of the window all the way, so every morning there was a strong ray of light shining through. The mattress was also “aging” and sagging in the middle. Breakfast was okay but really didn’t seem to change day after day. Although the hotel is supposed to be close to the haram, it does take time to get there. First you take an elevator down to the main level, then from there you transfer to another elevator to go to the haram level. From there you walk through the hotel shopping complex and finally emerge in the courtyard which yes, is steps away from the haram courtyard. However, still quite a walk before you finally get to the Kaaba Shareef. All in all would say it took a good 15 min before we could start our tawaf!
The rooms were cleaned when asked but it took time...although I feel sorry for the workers there, I get the sense they are overworked and underpaid.

It was nice to have a fridge to store stuff. Extra sink outside bathroom was also handy. Having a masjid on S2 was also good to use when we couldn’t get to the haram.

I have stayed here with my family in two rooms from 29th Dec to 1st Jan for umrah. Rooms were dirty when we checked in and we requested to change our rooms which the duty manager immediately did but to our utter surprise other rooms were of same condition with Stains on carpets, dusty furniture, curtains dropping from the hooks, window glass covered with dust that you could barely see anything outside. There were no spoons or plates in the rooms, Electric kettle was not working. Cleaning was not proper and no one ever refilled any of bath toiletries during our 3 days stay. Breakfast was very average like a normal B&B and getting tea or coffee was a task at breakfast. I highly regret that my agent booked this hotel for us. I would never stay here again and dont know how come they claim to be a 5 star Hotel ! And during check out it took us 2.5 hours to get trolley for luggage and our ride to airport kept waiting the whole time.

Firstly, I must be fair by stating that the hotel staff were very friendly as well as the rooms and public facilities were nicely decorated and well maintained. And I appreciate Mr. Ebrahim Almatrafi who put all his efforts to amend my reservation to make me a bit happier. Also, Ms. Maysam and Mr. Riyaz Hussain from restaurant really deserve recognition for doing their best to cover up for the mismanaged restaurant.

That said, at arrival it took us around 50 minutes to check in. This was not due to lack of hotel staff at reception.
The restaurant had the worst Eftar and Suhoor we had ever had in Makkah. The dishes were tasteless. They were cooked with a lot of oil that was unhealthy. They offered set menu but without good variety. And NONE of the daily dishes was traditional Saudi food. None of the dishes was massively popular such as pastas or Chinese, etc. They did not offer salty Arabic pastries such as Zaatar, Akkawi Cheese, Labneh Muhammarah, egg/cheese mix or Italian pizzas. The restaurant only offered 2 types of desserts, and one of these 2 options was an assortment of fruits. No popular cakes, no muffins, no baklavas, no ice cream, etc. Moreover, despite the fact that it cost about SR300 for one person for Suhoor, beverages were shamefully added to the bill separately! Finally, it was very obvious that most of the waiters were picked up from the streets without proper training at all. They do not know where things were, and they were slow at cleaning tables. We used to ask for plastic cutlery (as we were there during COVID-19), and it would take them forever to bring them.
We had beautiful Kaabah view, and the rooms were really clean. But there was no king size bed for couples in Kaabah view rooms! The windows were unfortunately so dusty and had disgusting bird dirt stains all over them! Moreover, despite expensive Kaabah view room rates, they did not have Nespresso machines. In addition, the shampoo, soap and shower gel had no refreshing smell at all. Also, I neither found Qur'an nor prayer rugs in the drawer. The electricity outlets seem to be European type, and we had to ask for adaptors! We are in Saudi Arabia, and we thought you would conform to Saudi electricity outlet standards. And the house keeping limited giving each room to 2 adaptors only; so imagine guests having 2 smart mobiles, iPads, laptops, how would they manage with 2 adaptors? Final remark concerning the room, the safe deposit box was not working.

By far, the worst experience i have faced in any hotel i have stayed at. This was my second time staying at the hotel, first time was preCovid and it was a much better experience. I had booked the room over the phone and explained that i would be checking in at noon the latest. My wife and I reached the hotel around 11.30am. They had checked us in stating the room is ready. I told my wife to go to the room while i go to get the bracelet for Haj & Umra. I got my token number (23) and by then they were at number (10). My wife calls me 5mins later and says "it looks like the previous guests left the room just 5mins ago because nothing was cleaned or sanitized." The floors had food crumbs and bottle caps. You can tell the tables and sinks were not cleaned/wiped/sanitized as there were stains left from the last guests. My wife said there was 1 cleaner in the room when she walked in fixing the beds (which was not done properly). She had sent me photos as proof for all that was stated above and so i left the M4 (where i was waiting for my turn to get the Umrah bracelet) to confirm what my wife said and was disgusted to see this in person. I immediately called the reception to send a manager to have a look at the dump of a room they put us in. They came 20mins later and had the audacity to tell us that they can clean the same room while we wait downstairs for it to be ready. It was either they changed the room immediately or they book me into Raffles (next door). I had gone down to the reception, made my complaint and was sat down for almost an hour until they finally told me that they would upgrade our room but we would have to wait a couple of hours until it is ready. At this point we were dead tired as we had just landed in Jeddah, took the train to Makka then a taxi to the hotel, only to have to wait almost 4 hours till we could go in to a CLEAN/SANITIZED room. During this period we were not offered any kind gestures (a meal or beverage or spa or anything for us to pass the time). We could not do Umrah without the bracelet and so were left to hang out in the lobby for 4 hours. Above all this, had another bad experience during this period waiting also almost 4 hours till it was my turn to get the Umrah bracelet. The whole process was unorganized and a mess. There were many other families waiting their turn (for hours and complaining to one another) and there was only one employee issuing the bracelets for dozens of families. I have never been this disappointed in a "5 star" hotel and would not recommend anyone to stay in this hotel. It is very unfortunate because i recall the last time i stayed there with my family, precovid, that it was pleasant. The only thing which was worth it was finally performing Umrah. I hope this hotel takes my review seriously and reassesses their operations as this is something worth complaining to the higher management and even to the ministry of health.

We've stayed here at least twice or maybe three times before, and we knew what to expect. As usual the hotel didn't meet its expectations nor did it live up to its branding, nor the price that we paid for it.

We booked 2 double rooms. Management said it will be ready after 1 pm. We had flown into Jeddah, dropped our luggage with the Concierge and directly performed our Umrah. So, there we were, expecting for our rooms to be ready, all tired out from flying the night before and the trials of Umrah.

One room was ready when we checked in. And the other was no where near ready. To make matters worse, NONE of those ladies could speak decent English to make themselves understood to their guests. All 3,000 plus rooms are not occupied by just Arabic speaking guests, the staff should know that by now. Why are management so pathetically weak in not training front line staff ?

Then a male supervisor intervened. He said it was only after 5 that the rooms would be ready. WHAT ??? You asked guests to check out by 12 noon and it takes 5 hours to get rooms ready?? What kind of staff planning do you have here ?? Non existent?

It took all my restraint to hold back my anger, after telling him that it was your staff who had said and promised the room would be ready the latest by 2pm. By 3 we eventually got our rooms. It was both located on the 60th floor.

Room was good and large. And the air-conditioning was working full blast, what with temperatures in the teens outside. Breakfast was the usual fare. They have the funny seating ruling where we're not allowed to sit in the side rooms even though the main areas was all fully occupied.I wonder who are they reserving the breakfast rooms for? I can't see any arab-royalty-look anywhere with the guests who opt to take breakfast there.

I was told it had more than 3,000 rooms. Fine. Thats the grand plan. What they forget was to hire enough personnel at proper rates so as to encourage these people to be inspired to work every day. The turnover at the hotel is high, but from the looks of things so is the occupancy, high. But one thing that remains low consistently, low level of quality service. It all boils to, not being paid enough, simple as that.

My only savior of staying here is that its directly facing Haram and the breakfast spread is very decent indeed. I don't have any expectations when it comes to service level quality of the hotel anymore, especially front line check in staff.

I don't think I'll bother recommending to friends to stay here, what with the poor service, it would just spoil their Umrah/Haj experience.

Very disappointing experience! I paid extra money to have HARAM VIEW rooms and was totally shocked with the actual view (see photo), and when i asked the receptionist to see if possible changing to a better view, her immediate response was “you need to pay more money”. I call this GREED.

To make it worse, i found this tissue with blood on it right next to my bed (see photo). You think you would get great value for your money with Fairmont but this hotel was a total disappointment and i totally regret staying there.

I have always chosen this hotel for their fabulous 2 bedroom suite for all my Umrah trips since 2015 - 2018 and again now in Jan 2023 after the pandemic. However, the service seems to have been less than par on this trip during my stay from 25-29 Jan.

Out of 6 lifts serving our floor, 4 did not seem to be working during our stay and taking us between 15-20 min waiting for the lifts each time (which were almost always also full as our room was on first floor, and the lifts having already taken guests from the upper floors to the lobby floor to go to the Haram). We were consequently frequently late for the prayers. Housekeeping missed to make our room on the first day of stay. When I called the operator at Zero to complain, he told me that I need to call them when I want the housekeeping to be done !

The telephone operator you call at zero was not very helpful either. When we called to ask for additional water bottles, we were shocked when he said we were only entitled to 1 bottle of water per guest per day! And here we are paying 4,000 SAR per night for a 2 bedroom suite. We bought additional water bottles from Bin Dawood at the mall to avoid getting dehydrated in our 2 bedroom suite.

I can only hope that the telephone operator was an inexperienced intern doing a part time job at the Fairmont Hotel.

Prior to arriving, I received an email from the reservations team that my booking will be released in 30 min as the hotel only accepts Visa or Mastercard and cannot validate my Amex card used for the booking. This was very surprising coming from a 5 star hotel which has always accepted my Amex card (which I assume remains a card of international standing) in all my previous stays and caused a fair deal of anxiety receiving such an email when we were already on the road from Madinah to Makkah to check in the evening before doing our Umrah. All attempts to call the hotel and reach them by email for clarification was unsuccessful and the email remains unanswered.

When we checked into the hotel, the reception readily accepted my Amex card and was able to charge the full cost of the stay to my Amex card without any questions. Again, I assume the reservations agent who emailed me to inform my reservations will be cancelled due to me using an Amex card was an inexperienced intern at the wheels at best. Nevertheless it caused a fair bit of anxiety causing me to search for alternative hotels while travelling via road to Makkah from Madinah. This could have been avoided again with better training, education and supervision of their reservations staff.

Sadly, I don’t think I will be returning to the Fairmont for my next Umrah booking after a series of bad encounters during this stay .

We had a very long flight, went straight to the hotel but had to wait. I got frustrated as my husband and I were tired and just wanted to rest so we could perform umrah. After waited ages, I asked if everything was ok, and the gentleman said yes and took us to our room shortly after.

Prior to booking the room, we specifically asked for a double bed and to see 3 single beds was VERY frustrating as this is not what we paid for. We asked the reception many times to swap our rooms but were told we should ask at 9am. Went down to the reception at 10am and was told come back 1pm and then 5pm. By 7pm, I got so frustrated but trying to keep calm I didn’t say anything. Next day we go and we were told the system is down and they couldn’t do much. The following evening, I thought "enough is enough". We went down once again, and my husband spoke to the men at reception and we waited, and waited.. and waited but they didn't acknowledge us at all! They were not helpful at all so instead I decided I wouldn't take no for an answer. First we were told no rooms were available and after I got frustrated and spoke rudely suddenly a room become available?!!! I absolutely hate speaking harshly especially as we were here for umrah but not being helpful nor trying to assist is not what we paid for. To end my journey with this hotel, when checking out, we had to wait over an hour for someone to collect our bags and every time we’d call them, they’d say I’ll call and send someone up yet that didn’t happen. In the end, we did it ourselves and left.

I was so excited to stay at this hotel but it really did not meet my expectations. I have stayed in several Makkah hotels over the last year's and I was really looking forward to staying at Fairmont but will mostly definitely will never stay here again.
