We have just returned from Umrah on 8 March. Our room was very clean and even with the young man who handled section always available to meet our needs.
The front desk, concierge and greeters are very friendly and convey the impression that they love their jobs.
Al Hajar restaurant on level M2 is fantastic! The selection of food is vast; salads, breads, assortment of beans, meats, fish desserts was just the right start before Ramadan. By the way.. they even have a children/kids corner to wire up the little ones.
However, what makes Al Hajar very special is the staff. The chiefs were always walking around to see if anything was needed and they had time to stop for a quick conversation.
The gentlemen and ladies who work reception were very friendly and attentive to our needs. And what can I say about the guys who cleared our plates, asks if we needed anything and took it upon themselves to bring us soup or special Tea.
At one point when my wife did not show up around her normal time, they checked the neighboring restaurant on the same floor and I believe the one at M1 level as well. They were as happy as I when she turned up. I would like to have copied their names so that I can give them all the recognition they so duly deserve. But having a touch of the flu prevented me from a longer meal there before our group left for the airport. 10/10 stars for all.
As far as location to masjid Al Haram or the Kaaba ; Movenpick is right in front. Both the gates for women (gate 89) and men right next to it for masjid Al Haram. To the right of the masjid you will see men wearing their Ihram, women and children going to another entrance to start Umrah.
I wholeheartedly, recommend Movenpick hotel for all it has to offer and the wonder staff.

We were dropped off in the private entrance on level -2 and the luggage services team unpacked, stored, and delivered our luggage to our rooms.
We were checked in whilst seated in the lounge by a very efficient receptionist named Turki. He made sure all our rooms were near each other and explained the best lifts to use to reach our rooms. He also ensured that each of our mobiles had connected to the hotel WiFi before leaving for our rooms.
The rooms were nice, of a good size, very clean, with good mattresses and pillows, and even had a Musallah and Quran available. We were checked upon by again another efficient employee from the guest services team named Areez. She checked that we were happy with our rooms, and offered her help & support with anything we needed throughout our stay. She helped my elderly mother with a few things during our stay and nothing seemed to faze her.
The housekeeper for our room named MD Monir was again very efficient, checking with us daily if we needed anything, and after like two days he went ahead and gave us new towels, emptied the bins, offered toilet rolls, and vacuumed the carpets areas every day onwards. Thank You MD Monir for the care and attention you provided to us.
We did not use the hotel lobby areas much, but we did do a little shopping at the concessions around the reception/restaurant/lounge areas, and we loved the ice cream too 👌🏽
Overall, this hotel understands their customers and our needs well, and are one step ahead when it comes to solving our concerns. The only one thing I would say that needs changing is the electric cookers should be removed and replaced with microwaves as this would help with reducing food waste.
We are so grateful to this hotel and it’s high standard team. We had an amazing experience and one which we will not forget for a long time. We will definitely be back to stay with you in the future.
Thank You, and may Allah (God Almighty) answer all your prayers and give you all success in everything you do.

My wife, daughter and I stayed at the hotel for 6 nights. We looked forward to the International Breakfast buffet every morning with its wide selection of choices. More importantly, were the excellent and friendly services from the staff namely Mousa, Sufyan, Omar, Rasil Ali, M Sufyan and Ashraf. The location is very convenient for us with quick access to the Masjid'll Haram, shopping and food courts. The House Keeping team was also very quick to respond to our needs.

This hotel met my basic expectations, but its pricing was excessive for the quality of accommodations provided. Notably, the hotel failed to accommodate guests with disabilities effectively. The staff’s demeanor could be perceived as unfriendly, which may have been influenced by cultural differences. I am British Pakistani if that helps?!
The breakfast options were limited and of poor quality. On several occasions, the menu lacked items that I typically enjoy. The presentation of the food as high-quality was misleading, as it appeared less appetizing than the breakfast served at another establishment.
The restaurant staff were courteous and deserving of better compensation.
The primary advantage of this hotel is its location, which is crucial for those planning to perform Umrah or Hajj. However, for a five-star establishment, significant improvements are necessary to enhance the overall guest experience.
The bed was comfortable, but the room’s layout resembled a compact apartment in London. The presence of an unexpected stove and a kettle on top of it created a cramped and uncomfortable atmosphere. It appeared as if the hotel had maximized the number of rooms in the building.
The hotel’s elevator system was confusing, which was more attributable to the surrounding mall than to the hotel itself.

An extremely disappointing experience that is not in line with Accor reputation in general and Movenpick in particular. I booked 2 rooms for my family (#2925 and 3025) on Jan 15 for one night. Look at the photos to see what we experienced during the stay and here is the summary: - The neighbor room 2926 and 3026 were under re-construction - I informed the receptionist about it after I saw it around 3:00 AM after our arrival and asked him to move us elsewhere since we are staying only one night and we need to have a good sleep after finishing our Omrah. He made phone calls and then told me there is no construction or maintenance work in any of the rooms during that morning. - We slept at 7 AM after performing Omrah and a long travel day - The workers started hammering and cutting and drilling at 9 AM with an extreme construction noise from all directions. - I asked the workers to stop as we need to sleep and the noise was not allowing us to do so - They stopped for 10 minutes and then started again - I called the receptionist and asked to talk to the manager. Mr Majed (the manager in charge) spoke with me and apologized for the noise. I told him that I paid $578 (SAR 2170) to have a good sleep not to hear an apology - I asked for refund and he strictly rejected. I told him these rooms should not be given to any customer and this is not the expectation from a hotel like Movenpick or Accor Group. He insisted that the hotel policy doesn’t offer any type of refund, even if the hotel did a mistake in assigning such a room to the guests. - He offered an upgrade: I told him that we are checking out the same day and the upgrade doesn’t solve the problem. - I stopped the call after more than 20 minutes of trying to convince the manager that this treatment is not what I know about Movenpick and Accor group. I also informed him that I will escalate my complaints through all possible channels. - A gentleman from the hotel came at 10 am and asked them to stop until noon time (12:30 pm). At 11 am, they started the work again…it wasn’t a hotel stay. It was a nightmare for me and my family.
In summary, we slept only for 2 hours and then checked out.
Conclusion: I do not recommend this hotel. Go for the other options in Makkah. I still hope that Accor group will be fair, refund the paid amount and express their apology. Accor has always been one of my preferred hotel chains and hope it will continue after they read this review. They should not allow any hotel operator to damage the reputation they spent years on establishing it.
Leave you with the photos!!

Underwhelming stay. At check in the kaaba view room that we had booked was unavailable. Mr. Turki at checkin was kind enough to upgrade us to a suite with part “haram” view suite which we accepted as there was no other solution.
The room however was very old and shabby with furniture falling apart and beds not comfy at all with hard spring mattresses that remind me more of a motel than a 5 star hotel. There was also a smell in the room and corridor which others have mentioned in their reviews. I have stayed at the fairmont too in the Clock Tower and that is fair to say 10/15x better than this hotel. I would not recommend. Even the suite looked like two rooms joined together and the kitchen amenities were all falling apart with the stove not even working. We didn’t want to cook however a feature offered should work!
The breakfast was decent but nothing to write home about. Look elsewhere is my recommendation!
P.S. Only fairmont has their own prayer room in this building, all other hotels share a communal prayer area on P9/P10 which only a couple of the many lifts go to so it can be a challenge if you wanna pray there.

Stayed in Movenpick from the 2nd-8th of september. Very nice hotel in general, the rooms were clean, lifts were easily available in the hotel, the location was pretty close to the haram it would take around 5-8 minutes including using the lifts. Its very convenient as its in the tower which is considered part of the haram so we could pray in the tower mosque which is accessible to all hotel guests and the ladies prayer room was the floor below the hotel so it took less than 5 minutes to reach the prayer room.
Bathroom is pretty small but it had all the amenities. The breakfast buffet was pretty underwhelming, not as extensive as ive seen in other hotels and not much variation daily which gets boring when youre staying for 6 days. one thing i would mention was that there is renovations going on in the hotel on some floors so theres alot of noise but we got to switch rooms once we complained about that. they also dont upgrade to haram view rooms so you only get what you pay for.
overall would stay there again because the location is very convenient!

I live on the 8th floor, the location is very close, the hotel windows face the back of the Kaaba, so you can't see the Kaaba from this hotel, the hotel is a bit old, there are still 2 electrical plugs like common plugs in Indonesia. cleanliness is sufficient, the distance to the haram mosque is very close. delicious food. go down to p11 (lobby), move the elevator down to 0, walk about 150 meters inside the shopping mall, reach the Grand Mosque courtyard...food court food is available on the p4 floor, the mosque is also on p9, there is also a smoking area at the rear of p4, or at minus 2, a kind of taxi terminal. Over all, this hotel is the best choice for those who want to perform Umrah in Mecca.

This hotel did not have the decency to call me and let me know that they were cancelling my reservation- with less than one week left in my trip to umrah. I was sent into a panic. I booked through ALL Accor months in advance. I put my credit card information down for booking and noticed they never charged my card but they did confirm the reservation. When booking the hotel the website said $0 due at arrival so I assumed I should be charged soon. I called them twice and they said they will send a payment link or charge on arrival. They sent me a link several days after I made my booking that I did not see. They gave me only 24 hrs to complete the payment. I never saw this email and they proceeded to cancel my reservation. This could’ve happened to anyone. I then see that my reservation is cancelled so I called them and they said due to no payment they cancelled reservation. It’s absurd that they had my card info and did not charge it to begin with but then only give me 24 hrs to pay and that too days after my booking is already confirmed. They couldn’t even offer me a room for new booking and I was forced to spend $500 more in finding a new hotel less than one week from the day I was due in Makkah. What’s worse is they didn’t even call…they don’t care about their guests being stranded. It’s all about making money. What kind of business is this. Hotels run on hospitality…not Movenpick Makkah though.
