Bed was really comfy, AC worked well, very classy interior. Sauna & executive lounge closed due to Covid-19. Warmth/bending over backwards was not their strong suit, but otherwise a decent hotel on the beach.
The location is gorgeous right on the beach, the indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi are a nice touch and the breakfast buffet is off the hook good.
While the staff is overall solid, the Renaissance has a rockstar assistant manager in particular named Elizabeth who makes all the different in customer experience. Elizabeth was so kind and accommodating. We are super pregnant and were visiting the hotel for a baby moon, and Elizabeth took care to secure us a high-floor room with a beautiful view that also had a bathtub, which was so appreciated.
We had access to the executive lounge and, as a courtesy, Elizabeth arranged for us to be able to eat once or twice downstairs at the restaurant's deluxe buffet - despite the staff member who checked us in saying that it would be impossible.
It's the small touches like this that make a huge difference and leave a positive impression. Thanks for a great experience, and hang onto Elizabeth. She's a gem!
My room was on the 3rd floor and although all the rooms all promise a sea view and balcony, bare in mind some stretch this feature a little too much, as my view was over an adjacent hotel tower, with the sea only visible from the small balcony when looking the right way. The location of the hotel generally though is perfect, being steps from the beach and in the centre of the main the main strip.
The room itself was spacious with carpet throughout, a separate armchair and a sizeable TV. The glass desk provided some good storage but fortunately there were electric sockets next to the large comfortable bed, which was great. Bottled water was provided daily and the whole room felt very clean. The bathroom was equally as spacious and clean, although only had a shower which on an extended stay was a shame. It was very large though and worked well with good power and heat and there was lots of space around the sink area. Plenty of toiletries and decent towels were a delight too.
Breakfast was both a delight and sad affair. Amazingly it operates right through until 11am, which is brilliant if you’re on a more relaxing trip and enjoying late wakes. The staff are all super welcoming and can’t do enough to help once you’re seated. The dining area is large and whatever time I turned up there was never a problem finding a free table. The food selection though was always a bit of a let down - there was a very minimal hot selection, the bread choices weren’t restocked often enough and if you’re looking for more than salad or fruit you’re likely to be disappointed.
While the room was adequate enough it was the rest of the hotel that particularly fell short of the five star category for me. Everywhere just felt a little unfinished or deserted. The building itself is looking seriously tired from the outside, but there was minimal service from any of the bar areas, a lack of seating outside, no atmosphere compared to the adjacent options and just a general feeling you were sat or staying somewhere partially closed. Also bear in mind that the door to the beach closes at 6pm, meaning a long walk round to the front of the hotel which again adds to the feeling that the hotel isn’t totally engaged with the local vibe, where everywhere is open until late.
Overall the room was fine, the location brilliant, but generally it felt lacking of five star credibility. I’d consider on a return visit, but only if the price was seriously competitive.
it is well maintained.
The lobby is classic with a seating area for a coffee while listening to live piano music ( not sure of the piano player’s schedule though )
One level down is the bar/restaurant that is classic too and is pretty small. It has a large window pane though with a view on the boulevard and the beach.
The breakfast restaurant is big with dated furniture and it feels very empty. It also has the big windows with a row of tables that have a direct view on the beach. Breakfast quality is good and there is a wide selection-of food.
My room was medium sized and felt nice although the interior is also a bit dated. It had a desk to work and a fauteuil. In the room are coffee/tea facilities and a filled ( auto-charge) minibar. Note: it does not offer space for private stuff, for that a mini fridge can be rented.
There is also a Safe and an iron board in the room.
The best asset though is the small balcony (+ 2 chairs)with a magnificent view on the boulevard!! ( ask for a room with that view ).
The bathroom is ok and well maintained.
In summary, even though this hotel is old and feels a bit dated, it still offers a very pleasant stay with good value for money.
The location directly on the boulevard ( no road in between like what most other hotels have ) and the great view are definitely a big plus.
The reception guys were very nice and welcoming, we got upgrade to deluxe room. the room is nice as well, we got a sea view room. they fill our request pretty fast, if we need extra towels or extra soup.
Room was very clean and equipped well.
The team kept the Covid-19 restrictions, such wearing a mask to all of the people. they keep asking from people who're not wearing a mask. in these days it's very important.
The buffet breakfast was also with the Covid-19 restrictions, even that with this challenge they faced well.
The only minus is the connecting door to the beach, it closed after 5PM. in the summer I suggest to change it later, like 7PM.
Overall I'm very happy from the stay, probably I'll come back.
Thanks,
Snir.
The receptionist was half asleep and totally disinterested.
The room was like a time warp from the 1990s with dark furniture and a mini bar and safe that must have each been 25 years old at a minimum.
The view from my north facing room was directly into the adjacent hotel.
The coffee machine had to be manhandled to work properly because it was damaged. There was no milk (or even powdered milk) for tea/coffee.
On getting into the room at 01:00 there wasn’t even a single bottle of water in the room. The following two days the cleaner left two small bottles. On one occasion I asked for more and the cleaner offered to bring it to me… she was never to be seen again.
This is an expensive hotel and quality of the staff and attention to details do not reflect the price.
When you order a room facing the beach, what you really get is a room on the side of the hotel where you can see the water from the tiny old porch outside the room.
As far as customer service I'm sorry to say that while the employee manning the pool was nice, the front desk/management was terrible.
The workers at the bar look like they are abused.
The 2 positive things are the veiw from the lobby (management harasses you if you sit there for too long) and their outdoor seating area (when its open)
"the rooms facing north are quieter. breakfast closes at 11, if you want another piece of the delicious cheesecake, dont wait till 10:55 ! "Read full review
