Value
Given the boggling variety of architectural and design styles that crowd the eye in Istanbul, perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised to find the industrial-chic SuB Hotel in Karaköy (née Galata), the ancient commercial and cultural core of the city. And yet, let’s be honest: it is a bit of a surprise. SuB Hotel, quirky capitalization and all, looks more like a place you’d find in Greenpoint (Brooklyn) or Neukölnn (Berlin) than in the oldest part of one of history’s great crossroads of civilizations.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in this quirky hotel. Something to catch the eye everywhere you look. If you want somewhere different to stay the the suB Karakoy is the place.
Absolutely perfect location for checking out the Karakoy bars, restaurants and coffee shops.
Super friendly and helpful desk staff and chef who made an effort to say hello and answered any questions I had. Arriving late on the Friday night the desk porter Aroon led us to a local restaurant with top class selection of Turkish foods.
Jan an Onor greeted us over breakfast and chatted to us offering advise if we needed it for local attractions.
Hasan was also super helpful when booking transport to and from airport. (Forgive me staff if I misspelt your names)
Oh - I didn’t even mention the wine bar with a great selection of wines or the roof top bar.
I would totally recommend this hotel and definitely stay there again.

We really enjoyed our time at SuB. The hotel is very well decorated with nice rooms and amenities. Very centrally located by bus, tram, and ferry stations in which you can access any of Istanbul's numerous neighborhoods. The hotel staff was great and very helpful with all our questions (and getting us our Hes codes!) SuB is located just a block from a very cute and thriving art and food scene in a hopping neighborhood.
Bed was very comfortable.

Great hotel with a fab breakfast! Beds were comfy, amazing shower and friendly staff. Brilliant location. Do not book a taxi transfer from the airport. We waited a really long time at 2am for our taxi and it cost us $50. Using uber will cost you around 250 lira ($17). Really not worth the money.

We stayed here for 3 nights.
The location of the hotel is great: close to a lot of bars and restaurants and walkable to a lot of great points in the city.
The room itself was a bit tired. There was a very odd smell coming from the room (I think it was the drains) which lasted the whole stay, it didn’t feel particularly clean and the lights and room card were temperamental and often didn’t work.
The hotel offers pick up and drop off from the airport but it was about 1/3 of the price to get an Uber so I’d recommend that instead.

Positive side of this hotel 🏨 location. Perfectly placed to explore the town and sit down for a Turkish tea or coffee in one of the hype cafes in the neighborhood.

Negative: situated at a busy street so you hear traffic and obligatory call for a prayer ( speakers are just next to the hotel). It’s a quirky Turkish version of a boutique hotel that looks good at night and you are drunk. In reality is a refurbished old house where carpets have seen better days and a whole place would need a good clean up and a lift up. Elevator floors are dirty and an elevator in itself looks like it might stop any minute. Rooms are clean and have a character but as the rest of the place - they have seen better days.

Breakfast: it’s ok but your coffee ☕️ or morning tea will be served in a paper cup. There’s plenty of staff hanging around and they all look like they’re bored to death and you annoy them. But it’s a general attitude of people in Istanbul.

I asked for an airport pickup and at the end it has turned out to be a long wait with some guy who was hustling and who was feeling offended after I inquired where is my ride. A whole scene was like from a bad movie called - I don’t care and I don’t know but please pay a full price of 45€. At the hotel they were kind offering a listening ear but they have never heard of customer service and they give an impression they couldn’t care less. I opted for a normal yellow taxi 🚕 for a ride back to the airport (arranged by a hotel) and upon arrival a guy turned to me and asked for 1000TL. He never put a taxi meter on and then he was hustling that’s a price for hotel guests. I clearly didn’t get the memo. I negotiated a price of 900TL but at the end my credit card was charged 980TL.

My opinion is you are better off staying in a real hotel because this one is not worth the money they are asking.

Hotel itself is great, especially if you are into industrial design. Location is perfect - within walking distance to bars, restaurants and various sightseeing locations. Breakfast is very good - big variety to choose from.
TV and in room phone in our room 52 was not working when we checked in which was reported to the reception right away. However it was not fixed during our 3 nights stay at the hotel :(
Rooms on the upper floors have more light and a better view.

This hotel is unique, in a pleasant way. The theme is very nautical.

The rooms we had were adequate with tea and coffee making facilities. Clean and tidy. The beds were comfortable and water hot.

Breakfast is served in a neighbouring hotel, but on their roof top, that provided excellent views over Istanbul.

Food for breakfast was good, but not much in the way of fresh fruit.

The Sub hotel had very helpful and polite staff on hand. The lift up to the floors was very small, so you may choose the stairs.

A stylish hotel with a charming spirit. Staff were incredibly nice and welcoming. The view from roof top lounge area was amazing. However it is not cheap due to its central location the value for money is good if compared with hotels around. I liked here a lot. Recommended!

Super nice hotel with a great service. The location is really good, very close to many bars, cafés & restaurants.

The hotel has very nice furniture, color palettes and the bed is very comfortable for a good night sleep after all the walking in the city.

The hotel and stuff are really nice. I dont consider myself a lightsleeper, although i am not a person hard to wake (lets say normal). I was on one of the rooms close to the street side and at a high floor. I still could hear the noise of traffic but i wasnt hard for me to fall asleep. The main problem was that i did woke up with the morning prayers like at 5-6 am, and i even had earplugs.

Not sure this is a question. Liked the hotel. The grill on the roof is very good. Better than restaruants around the area.
