Wonderful hotel, friendly staff. When we arrived, we were shown the rooms for choosing, our arrival was early. Yes, the hotel is old, the furniture is old, but everything is very clean, tidy, pleasant and comfortable. Thank you dear Hotel and the staff for our vacation! Highly recommend it!

Excellent location, kind and attentive staff compensate for all visual flaws. But the repair began in the hotels, we did not hear any uncomfortable sounds.
Many thanks for all staff!!!!

First of all, the location is great, if your choice is to stay in the Sultanahmed area. Not only it is 3 minutes walk from Agia Sofia, Top Kapi, Blue Mosque, 5 minutes walk form the Grand Bazar and not more than 15 minutes from Galata port and bridge, but it is also in a road next to the main, just 20 meters out, in front of a little park and it is very quiet.
The rooms are very clean, rather small, people working there, from the reception to the roof restaurant are willing to help in everything you can ask.
The hotel has a special room for keeping luggage as long as you need the day you arrive or leave.
The building is old and you can tell that from the interior, lobby etc, could have some renovation, without loosing the character they want to have.
The biggest problem is the breakfast. In a room on 6th floor with breathtaking view, it must be one of the worst breakfasts in Instanbul hotels, and in Turkey breakfast is really important. They don't have borek (famous turkish pies), they don't have turkish delights, they don't have omeletes (that' not traditional but since they have eggs normally the should have), and what they have, is not fresh in many things, or tasty, also they don't refill it at the last 30 minutes, it says till 10.30 but if you go after 10... what is left you can eat.
Around this area, there are about 700 hotels. So, comparison is tough. The price is not low, so in general, it is a fair choice, but in any way the best.

My wife and stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in the middle of November on the second floor. The location is excellent and the view from the breakfast floor is breathtaking as it overlooks the blue & Sofia mosques and the bhosphorus. There were a number of negatives which include the following: 1) disappointed that we had to pay extra for fresh orange juice at breakfast ( a glass cost 150 TKL/ £4.20 at prevailing exchange rate; 2) the lighting in the room was very dim, with no lights at all in the area next to the wardrobe and safe ( I had to open the bathroom door to allow sufficient light to see the safe combination); 3) the in room tea facilities was very limited with no coffee nor milk, just mint and one other type of tea; 4) very limited English speaking channels available on the TV, ( News and Evangelicals) ; 5) although minor, no tissue box nor a glass in the bathroom.

I am not sure if the taxi firm suggested & called by the reception staff to take us back to the airport was the cheapest. It was not metered and they charged us 850 TKL (£24). The taxi to the hotel which was metered cost 670 TKL (£19). In hindsight and given it was not metered, I should have agreed an upfront price or stepped out of the hotel and hailed a metered taxi.

Fresh orange juice aside, the breakfast selection was good, varied and the breakfast staff efficient and welcoming. The big plus for the hotel is its location, being around 10-15 minutes walk from the two mosques , Grand & Spice Bazars, Topkapi Palace & Bascilica Cistern. Even better, the Tram stop is no more than a 3 minute walk. There are numerous eating places very close to the hotel.

The hotel is located in a very close location to the Blue Mosque which was very handy, it is just tucked away from the main street so the noise is minimal.

The rooms were cleaned everyday to a good standard however a bit on the small side.

The view from our room and also the restaurant looked onto the blue Mosque and Haga Sofia with the Bosphorus in the back ground, its spectacular during sunset

The hotel provided Suhoor as we stayed during the month of Ramadan, it was basic Turkish style food, do not expect a continental style breakfast. They could improve on the cold drinks section, it was very watery.

For some reason the water supply went off on the morning of check out, we only had a water bottle to brush our teeth and then leave for the airport, no explanation given.

The staff are friendly enough, mainly nodded and waved as we went past, thats ok with me

I would stay here again if I was to visit in the future

Tired, dated and dirty hotel. Room is nothing like pictures on websites. Very dull lighting, dust on floors, old furniture, holes in bed linen and curtains. The lights in our room were not working and the room was awful. Rude reception staff who make you feel like they are paying for your room not the other way around. If you don’t book the deluxe rooms, be prepared to be treated like rubbish .

Very disappointed.. this is like an overpriced motel than a 3 or 4 star hotel! I would definitely NOT recommend. There are SO many other hotels in Istanbul which are really good and so much better than this one. I wouldn’t give them a dime of my money again!

After checking in I went to make a complaint at the reception regarding my room and the man at reception was so rude, it was unbelievable. He told me that you have the ‘lowest and cheapest room’ and that there are 4 levels of more expensive rooms than yours, so what do you expect? This is what you get. The ceiling lighting in our room wasnt working in what was already a very dull and dark room. There were no table lamps either. When I told the reception about this he said in a very rude and patronising manner ‘did you switch on the lights?!’
He didn’t do anything about my complaints.
Additionally when I asked for an iron, he told me we don’t have irons. If you want to iron your clothes you can pay for our laundry service!

Another guy, the Porter, who was a decent man, felt sorry for me and came to see the room. He then sent an engineer to eventually fix the ceiling light. However it made no difference because the lighting was so dull.

When I was able to secure another hotel, I checked out of this one the next day even though I paid for 2 nights. When I checked out, the same rude man didn’t even say thank you or ask why I am checking out early, or apologise. He didn’t seem surprised. So I’m pretty sure they know what they are doing and I’m not the first person who has been extremely dissatisfied with their hotel.

The location of the hotel, the price and the view from the Restaurant/breakfast on the sixth floor was valuable. The breakfast in it self left a lot to be desired. It the hotel upgraded its breakfast offerings a little bit also to include real juice and other assortment it would improve vastly.

Stayed with my son and daughter a coupla weeks ago in a triple room - we had the most amazing view of The Blue Mosque and Haghia Sofia from our room. Amazing location, everything within walking distance, find and follow the tramline to help with orientation. Everything was perfect about the hotel but a shame they don't open the roof top terrace during the evening. This is an alcohol free hotel but, please don't let that put you off. If you're booking airport transfers please double and triple check the email confirmation - it's not your name or hotel but a code, idiot that I am failed to do this. Breakfast buffet is superb however ask staff to advise on how to make a Turkish coffee if that's your thing. I highly recommend this hotel and will return as I only scratched the surface of this Amazing city.

The DGH is a 10 minute walk to the Blue Mosque, Hippodrome and anther 5 to Hagia Sophia. The views of the old city from the rooftop restaurant are 180* of South Bosporus and old town. It’s the perfect place to walk the old town or catch the tram to see the rest.

The staff is polite, cheerful and very helpful. They all speak good English and happy to give directions.

The hotel is grand in scale and decor yet unassuming from the outside. The decor is traditional Turkish with lots of detail bright colors and extravagant trim. Our room faced the Blue mosque on a high floor and was roomy enough. The bath is clean modern and lovely fixtures.

The restaurant serves up an amazing breakfast buffet with loads of choices of typical Turkish items as well as traditional Western fare. All very good.

Our only downside is the decor is a bit worn and in need of a at least a freshen if not a major refurb. It’s clean and attractive. We had a couple of problems that they were quick to fix.

We recommend this hotel but don’t expect modern.

We are three friends who went on a business trip.
We booked 3 rooms.
Half an hour before the check-in date we received a cancellation of one room.
We arrived and agreed to get two rooms and even added 30 euros.

We were told the rooms were not ready. We left our bags and came back after 4 hours.
We got the keys and were amazed to scroll that we got rooms in the basement.
No window and no air.
Smell of mold everywhere. Peeled walls. I added pictures
We asked to be replaced, we were told there was no room.
We left for another place.

We were at this hotel from 25 to 28 June 2021. You should be attention because receptionist might be cheating! He offered us to pass COVID 19 test which wasn't necessary. Every test costs 250 turkish lira. and he asked us to pay only cash! do not believe them!
