Very very small rooms. Inefficient staff except the doorman Murat. The receptionist Onur was trying to fool us by insisting on taking some promotional tour. Not at all trustworthy people. We had 2 rooms and we requested for late checkout of 2 pm for atleast 1 room which was outrightly refused.
A well situated restaurant. Good room, well equipped. A good restaurant with tasty food. A short walk from a bustling road filled with restaurants and shops. We were part of a coach tour and spent a couple of happy evenings here. I would happily come again.
The location was great. It's close to 2 metro and 2 tramlines. You can walk to Sulaimaniyyah, Grand Bazaar and Sultan Ahmet. The staff were very helpful; it was great that we got to use their laptops and printers to fill in our passenger locator forms. The room was small lacked a bath tub and window facing a wall. The breakfast was uninspiring and repetitive. We asked for a double/king bed but got 2 single beds joined together which was awful.
We visit Istanbul each January and have always stayed at this hotel.Mainly because we appreciate the comfort that it affords. Very comfortable rooms - welcoming after a day's sightseeing; especially the lovely hot shower. The hotel is exceptionally clean. WiFi is free and has a good speed. The location of the hotel is close to both the tramway and the metro. It's location is excellent for visiting all of the major sights - either by walking or by catching the tram for a few stops. Will definitely stay here again in 2011.
Good location. Very helpfull and friendly staff. Spacious room. Breakfast obviously traditional, so I struggled to find it tasteful, not much to eat for me as a Capetonian. Otherwise, everything good.
After having been booked into a 4 star hotel as part of Turkish Airlines special (free night) we were left with a little anxiety as to the rest of our stay in Istanbul, but from the moment we walked up to the hotel a porter ran to assist us with the wheelchair up the 3 small stairs into the hotel lobby and to the reception area we knew this would be a very pleasant experience. The lobby area, bar and lounging area seemed to have a sophistication and class which some of the other hotels did not have. The eagerness with which the staff wanted to serve us already told us a lot about the attitudes of the staff in this hotel, this was continued by the food and beverage and housekeeping staff. Once we had checked in the reception agent immediately gave us a summary of all the activities we could do in the area as well as in the rest of Istanbul along with pricing and other details relevant. Once in our room we were very happy to see the amenities including the stocked bar fridge, tea and coffee etc (which the other 4 star hotel didn't have) and the layout of the paraplegic bathroom. Unlike some other hotels who say they have paraplegic rooms Yigitalp had an easy to use hairdryer and a permanent shower seat. The only thing lacking was a view which we didn't mind this time. We decided to try out the hotel's Turkish bath which had been one of the things we had been looking forward most to in Istanbul. They did not disappoint whatsoever and we absolutely loved the experience. The staff again were very helpful and very eager to deliver the best service. We could also tell that they worked very well as a team together. As someone who loves massages and has had them from a number of places around the world, this was one of, if not the best massage experience I've had. They had a nice breakfast with a variety of turkish style offerings and change certain items in the offering daily. Room service also had some good options with very reasonable prices. If (probably when) we go back to Istanbul we will definitely go back to Yigitalp. …
Our bedroom was very clean & tidy, the beds and pillows were comfortable and the air con was good & reasonably quiet. There's a kettle with tea & coffee, a safe & fridge. The bathroom is stylish, with walk in shower and lovely toiletries. The view was dire (back of another building), but no matter. There was good wifi in the room (2nd floor). The breakfast was excellent, with cereal, breads, buns, cheeses, fruits & meats. The staff are helpful & friendly. There are 2 very small lifts. There is free bottled water on the first night only, but there are a couple of places to buy it nearby. There's a nice corner shop (fruit, biscuits, drinks, etc) if you turn left out of the hotel and cross over the main street. The hotel is situated on a small (mainly pedestrian) shopping street and so is reasonably quiet. We didn't eat in the hotel, but there are several restaurants a short stroll away. The area around the hotel is safe & rather pleasant, The Laleli mosque (right out of the hotel, then left then left again). The Şehzade Mosque (right, then right, top of the hill) is absolutely gorgeous - perhaps the most beautiful mosque I've ever been in. The Roman aquaduct is close to the Sehzade. The hotel is also reasonably close to the sights of Istanbul: less than a kilometre to the Grand Bazaar and the same again to the Topkapi. It's also close to a tram stop if you don't want to walk. If Ireturn to Istanbul, I would definitely stay here again…
On a Turkey Newmarket coach tour & this was the first hotel of 3 we stayed in. Friendly staff, room small but amenities ok for 3 days there, could do with an update. AC not working well & shower enclosure door had come off it's runner. Small lifts. Bar & lounge area comfortable but drinks a tad over priced. Breakfast basic buffet
Quite attractive hotel. Rooms rather small, but clean and comfortable with a small TV. Tea and coffee available in room. Bathroom nicely presented. View from our window was not very inspiring - a courtyard strewn with rubbish and what appeared to be a half derelict building on the other side. The electric socket seemed to be falling off the wall. However, breakfast was fine, the staff were helpful and it was easy walking distance to nearby restaurants and the nearest tram, just three or four stop away from the city centre. Convenient for a brief stay in Istanbul.
For those wanting to go to the Blue Mosque, Bazaar and the other key city highlights this hotel is really in the heart of things. Great staff who go out of their way to be helpful. The restaurant is first rate - nice pictures on the menu so you know just what you are ordering and the breakfasts were among the best we had on our ten day trip. We topped and tailed at this hotel on our ten day Turkey visit and were very happy with the rooms which were clean, a good size and well equipped. Reasonable prices too. Our party of four gave this the five star treatment and would use this hotel again. One small point. Not much literature around to help plan you sightseeing - but a great spa on the lower ground floor to relax in.
