I wanted to stay at a hostel so I booked this. It’s close to Taksim Metro station within 5-10 min. walk. - which is important for me. And also 10-15 minutes to Taksim Square. The hostel it self is not huge. It doesn’t also have elevator, so you have to carry on your own luggage. The receptionist Gönül is very kind and helpful, and tried to help me to connect my HES code to Taksim card. But I was messing with us, so Tugba (I think she’s a cleaning lady) she was sooo sweet and borrowed me her own Taksim Card. (But I forgot to give it back🤦🏻‍♀️). You can ask anything and they will help you. They are smiling and kind and it made me feel welcome and safe. Side note: So guys make sure to get your HES code before travel, cus travel around in Istanbul with Istanbul Card is much CHEAPER than one way ticket. And also to “check in” when shopping in the malls. (I seriously don’t know why it doesn’t makes sense, cus no other places as restaurants or any place don’t demand you to show the HES code) Back to hostel: I stayed at lady rooms. It was small. And also warm, you can’t regulate the warm but have to tell the reception so they can regulate it. So don’t be shy… they are willing to help. We had the shower inside our room, and toilet outside the room but next to us. It’s all small so don’t except big. I ate out all the time so I didn’t used the kitchen. The reason I specifically chose this was because it had curtains so I could have space for my self. I would definitely come back again. 👌🏼

I stayed in many hostels in Istanbul and The UK. But, I never felt comfortable in any other hostel like the green house hostel. Starting from the check in, I met a very nice young lady who helped me with my luggages and led me to my room. The next day, I forgot my coffee mug in the hostel kitchen, I started thinking what is the chances to leave something in a hostel in Istanbul and find it again, but I found it 😊. The room was very comfortable and the curtains gave me a lot of privacy and rarely you can feel that anyone is present with you in the room. Finally, during check out, once I started taking out my luggages, the man in the reception came running to carry them for me. I stayed there for 8 days and I was very pleased during my stay. They are very honest, clean and helpful people. I highly recommend this hostel, and if I visited Istanbul again I would definitely stay there everytime.

After a long time, I again remember my favorite hostel and decided to stay here for a few day. In Istanbul, I was passing through, and the location of the hostel a best choose for transit passengers. The years go by, everything changes, but the hospitality and comfort of this magnificent and beautiful hostel remains unchanged. Guests in here are always welcome, always help about everything. I think, the cleanliness and convenience of this hostel is visit card for all guests. It is so authentic hostel and after first visiting, you fall in love and you want to return here again. Dear Anna! Thanks for everything. Every time when I arrive in Istanbul, I will always remember you and will be your guest. I hope, we meet again !!!

It was my third time at Taksim Green House Hostel and the place feels like home. The rooms are cozy, clean and comfortable. You can have a delicious coffee at the reception and chat with super friendly staff, they’ll provide you with all the information about the city. They even ordered amazing food for me when I felt tired and couldn’t go out. I will deffinitely come back! Thank you Green House for making my stay great again!

• The distance from the main square is very close but tricky to find. Although Taksim is a little hilly and getting to this hostel was quite tricky. • You have to take your shoes off before going in the room and place it in a tiny cramped shoe cupboard. • The air-conditioning was right infront of someone’s bed, blowing onto their head, so you have to open the window instead of turning it on. Which meant that cigarette smoke from smokers outside (everybody smokes in Istanbul) floats into the room in massive clouds. Simply foul. • The room wasn’t ready 3.00pm when I checked in, although check out was at 11am. • The shared bathroom was very tight and the sensors switches off after 30seconds, you got to keep waving franticly for the light to stay on • I was given a female dorm despite asking for a mixed dorm, and it the isolated beds with floral curtains made it feel claustrophobic

Response from Green House i, Owner at Green House Hostel
Responded 10 Apr 2019
Dear Helena, * To get to our hostel all that is necessary is to go straight the main street from Taksim Square and turni left into Nispet Street and there you are, at the hostel. Istanbul is called the city of seven hills, though in fact it's much more hills, but I'm sure you have noticed that whole city is hilly, fortunatelly there is just one little hilly street when you walk from Taksim Square to our hostel, which is not a problem for our young travellers. * Indeed we ask our guests to leave their shoes out of the room, after a long day of sightseeing shoes are usually not fresh, having them all in dormitory room would not be a nice experience for other roommates. * you have asked to run airconditioning in the middle of march when the temperature outside is less than 15C, therefore do not be upset that other roommates found an excuse to turn it off. Furthermore airconditioning is a cooling device not an air washer. Indeed Istanbul is full of polution and cigarette smoke, we do hope that with new city authorities it might change one day. I can understand that maybe the room seemed small for you or you are sensitive to cigarette smoke that came from outside but please be fair. You have booked mixed dorm and I have asked you clearly if you would preffer female dormitory and I have mentioned that for bed in female you will have to wait a few minutes, because you bed was originally prepared in mixed dorm. You were offered a female dorm, once you have checked in indeed we didn't agree to change your room again. Bathroom, sensors are a metter of regulation, you are a second person to mention the fact that it was not enough time for you and you had to activate the light, therefore we set up longer time. Floral curtains, all our dormitories are colourfull, I'm sure you have noticed it on the photos while making reservation and our guests appreciate them a lot, which you can see from all our reviews. I can only wish you more smile and kindness in your life.
