An absolutely outstanding experience! Highlight of each day was breakfast, included in the price, a massive buffet with endless Turkish options (cheeses, jams, breads, rolls), and as well as everything expected plus live music on the terrace - all of it choreographed by Omer, the Chicagoan director. The hotel itself is situated perfectly near the Galata tower, the best area for sites and scenes. The front office staff were helpful in every respect. Location is perfect for day trips to the Hagia Sophia the Blue Mosque The Grand Bazaar and the spice Bazaar. Room service was fast and efficient, beds firm but excellent Hot showers with endless high flow water.

It takes place just in the middle of the oldest, historical part of Istanbul, Galata region.
It is just a few minutes walk to Galata Tower and also very close to İstiklal street where you can find lots of shops and has a very busy night life. The hotel is also very close to metro station where you can access several different areas quickly and easily. Considering the hotel itself, it itakes place in a building from 19th century which is renovated based on its originality. It is a charming building. On the top there is a roof where an open buffes breakfast has been served each morning. It has a panoromic view including Golden Horn, Boshphorous, Galata Tower view and old İstanbul. Very clean and staff is very helpful, stronly recommended as a best İstanbul experience.

Despite booking 5 weeks in advance with full pre-payment they tell us it's cancelled when we arrive there to check-in at midnight. We were left stranded on the streets of Istanbul at such an hour thanks to this amazing hotel. Will advice no one ever to book this hotel. Don't go by there reviews and get fooled.

I would like to give my regards, and to thank you for the wonderful service, and hospitality. It was our first visit at Barnathan, and we were really concerned regarding the service but no doubt we had a wonderful time staying over here, and we will definitely come again, and will also recommend your hotel to our friends, and family.

From food to room service everything was perfect, and we really appreciate the effort you put in to make your guest comfortable.

Bravo! to the hotel staff, especially Ms. Ebru, who greets you every morning with a big smile on her face as she serves you a great breakfast. And receptionist Osman deserves an extra kudos. He was very polite, friendly and helpful with all the informations.

I wish you all the very best, and we will definitely come again. Thank you. Jernej & Zemira, room #133.

Very disappointing apart from the breakfast and the views. The first night were in an average size room with views over the Galata Tower. The hotel said we had to move the second night to a room which was impossibly small with the racket of a jackhammer making it impossible to talk. The bathroom door could not close because it was too close to the bed. The attitude of the manager was aggressive and rude telling us we would never find another room in Istanbul. We moved out to somewhere else way superior with friendly helpful staff quite easily.

We didn’t even get a chance to try out the hotel, since they cancelled our reservation the day before while we were traveling to Istanbul. They gave our room away and claimed they tried our card which they claimed failed. The card didn’t have any failed alerts, even after calling, and the hotel would not relay which card they tried and failed. Conveniently, the hotel (and the rest in the brand which were nearby) were all fully booked. So we lost our two booked junior suites and instead of enjoying our vacation, felt stressed and scammed. My husband, kids, and I were left stranded in a foreign city, country with no where to go. The manager claimed to try to help by walking me to a basic hostel-looking apartment owned by a friend, which looked poor even by Baltimore, MD standards. I’ve never had a hotel cancel my reservation the day before arrival, when the booking (through the hotel’s website) was to be paid on the day of arrival, and we’ve stayed at hundreds of hotels. After reading more reviews, it looks like this has been a practice with other guests. This is not a best practice of a 4 or 5 star hotel, and absolutely not a best practice of a hotel aiming for ideal customer service. Check out World House Boutique Hotel one block down for a trusted, true “boutique” experience…with 5 star customer service! Very disappointed we trusted this hotel brand.

Stayed at bosphrous facing suite on the top floor in the last week of April.
Pros :- Spacious beautifully restored suite complete with ornate rediators and retro electic switches.Nice 3/4 bathroom with classy period fittings
Very convenient location close to Tunel and Metro station. Galata tower is just a hop skip and jump from hotel.Istiklal street is hardly a few hundred meters away.

Superb views of Bosphorous and Galata Tower from the suite.
Sumptuous, elaborate and delicious breakfast spread. Impeccable service at the breakfast.
Views from Rooftop restaurant are amazing.
Cons:- Roof top restaurant is very popular. So noisy on the top floor.
Exhaust in the bathroom was not working. So some residual foul smell at times.
Mixer of the wash basin was not working properly.
There is only one lift which serves rooftop restaurant as well as residents. Gets busy in the evenings
Food in the restaurant is delicious but service leaves a lot to be desired.

We were in town on a cruise ship which was overnighting in Istanbul. Four of us were interested in having a good Turkish breakfast. A local recommended the breakfast at this hotel as being a local favorite so we made our way there. The breakfast seating is on the top level of the hotel and overlooks the Galata Tower and the water in the background. We could see our ship at the port below. The service was excellent. And the food choices on the buffet were incredible. We had eggs made to order, veggies, breads, meats, pastries, halva (!), cheeses, and good coffee. The views from our table made our breakfast all the more special. Highly recommend. If we come back to Istanbul, we will stay at this boutique hotel. It’s clean and in a great location.

This hotel is a gem of Istanbul. We were upgraded to Meroddi BARNATHAN. The hotel was new and simply amazing.Location is amazing as it is not even a minute walking distance from galata tower. We were travelling to most of the sightseeings by walking as they were mostly 15-25 minutes walking distance. Our room was spacious and was equipped with 5 star amenities including a Nespresso machine, mini fridge and kettle! We stayed for 9 nights and our room was beeing cleaned every day.Housekeeping Team Oya and Merve was full of positivity and did their best to make our stay memorable.Breakfast was delicious but same things every day.But i have to mention restaurant team was extremely accomodating for special requests.Yasin,Seyid and Ebru was greeting us every morning with the same positivity and smile..And for my opinion most valuable part of this hotel which made our stay exceptional is the Reception team Ali,Berkant and Osman..I mean they were there for us for any kind of request, question, favor simply anything! They did their best explaining transport, helping us to get around, even finding food for my baby at 3 in the night. This is the true hospitality! Cant wait to come back!

I'm so sorry for this very late reply. It you have knee concerns then it's best you don't stay up on the hill in Galata. Try down in Karakoy. The Haze Hotel is convenient and the breakfast is in the rooftop dining room (amazing food and view). Also very close to the T1 tram. Also look at The Wings hotel and Root Karakoy Hotel.
