Very clean, excellent location, very friendly service. Rooms are small but more than adequate and quite comfortable. 10 mins walk from Hagia Sofia and Blue Mosque, 20 mins walk to either Bazaar. 2mins to park, 20 mins to Bosphorus straight. Plenty of places to eat right there, and plenty of tourist shops. Venture a little further and you will find better priced meals than tourist areas.
Would stay at this hotel again.

Thanks again for making our city break that perfect with a very reasonable budget.

Very clean, comfortable and easy check in and check out process. They clean our room every day. Our flight was at 5pm and they let us to leave our luggage at the counter after check out. It is near tram station so it can be quite noisy during night and early in the morning.

The hotel's main asset maybe isn’t the hotel itself, but his staff, starting with the general manager and finishing with the youngest employee. They are doing really everything for all their guests to enjoy the stay in the Constantine hotel. Very good position in the old city, close to the all main attractions. There is a tram line just in front of the hotel door (but not so noisy how i read before) so you can reach easy everything (the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia – but be ready for a long queue -, the Grand Bazaar and also Galata bridge and tower and Dolmabahce palace. The area is full of good restaurants, with delicious turkish and ottomans dishes. Thanks to the staff, we had two double rooms at ground level, very nice, large, clean and well kept. Breakfast was good enough, served in the restaurant who has a traditional turkish scene.
I fully recommend this hotel and I would like to visit it again, even if only for enjoy the great hospitality, friendship and kindness of the staff. You can not believe how friendly and helpful are these people, you simply must to test this. Many thanks again to Mr. Erhan Celik, to Oktay, Selma, Attilla, Alaattin and the young lady who serve the breakfast. This my second vacation in Istanbul was a wonderful experience and I did a great deal when I chose, from the multitude of offers, the Constantine hotel.

We just spent a week in this hotel and didn´t like it at all.
When we arrived, the manager told us that we would have to stay one night in one room and then would change to another one. Very boring, having to change rooms …
That was just the first problem, because the first room was on the underground, under the street, with no windows at all and the traffic noise was unbearable.
The second room was room number D 02, on the first floor, and was near the kitchen´s ventilation engine, noise all day and all night. We couldn’t sleep.
The staff were very friendly, except the manager, who wasn´t able to solve all this problems.

We stayed here 5 nights - it's absolutely shocking. Don't book it and if you have already - cancel. Previous reviews rate the staff as friendly and nice - this might be so but but hotels do not run on personalities. To avoid a long and boring review I will shorten this to point form. Over the five days -
- On check in, no water - had to be turned on by technician
- fridge did not work
- faulty air on switched off every 20 minutes
-room so small that we had 50 cm around the bed to move in
- day 2 asked to move rooms
- air con in room 2 had same problem
- Slightly very slightly bigger
- water had to be turned on every afternoon on returning to room
- toilet and shower drainage blocked - came back in afternoon to find the toilet completely removed!
- guests were checked into our first faulty room while management knew about its problems - they too asked to be moved!
- their restaurant next door is ok but there are much better nearby

- on the positive the front desk do try to pacify guests but management seems to be reluctant to repair anything
- it's situation in Sultanamhet and to the tramway is fantastic
- breakfast is adequate Turkish

With so many other options in the old city, this hotel is to be avoided

...location isn't everything!

This hotel is right where it needs to be - a stones throw from all the major sights and for those that are a little further away, the tram stops just outside the front door.

The staff demonstrate the famous Turkish hospitality with much accomplishment and after a long and tiresome journey from the airport (I would recommend sorting out a private transfer on the internet in advance of arrival) this provided an excellent first impression.

We stayed in a 'deluxe' room on the ground floor. The room was a nice size-it had a spare single bed that wasn't needed, but gave us another surface to put stuff on. The room looked tired though - walls and furniture were grubby and leaned far too much towards the shabby side to get away with being shabby chic. The room was clean in the sence of daily cleanliness, but the bath was mouldy and there was a most perculiar stain on the ceiling - it looked like coffee, but how could that be the case?
The bath leaked, the jacuzzi didn't work and the bath panel had fallen off, but the water was hot - so it could have been worse. And that kind of summarises our stay - the extra's didn't work, but the basics worked as good as they could - it did the job. For example:
*The digital bit of our room safe didn't work, so they gave us a key.
*The room doors open and closed, but did so with a shove and a bang, you soon got to realise you weren't the only ones in the hotel!.
*The breakfast was OK, just enough to see you through to lunch, but it wasn't a lavish affair.
*The fridge didn't work, but the cheap cold water bought from around the corner which we put in the fridge kept our contact lense solution below 25C.

I always think the best way to rate a hotel is to ask yourself "would you stay again?". I'm affraid the answer to the Constantine would be "no". The next time we go to Istanbul (and we would just to go to the Hagia Sophia again)' we would get a detailed map off google, get the street names of all the hotels in the surrounding area and find the best one to suit my budget from that list. They too might be the same as the Contantine, but we'd be happy taking the risk.

Oh and finally here's a tip unconnected with the hotel - if you're using a shuttle bus to get back to the airport, give it a couple of hours to get to there. We were told it would take 30 minutes to get to the airport, but 45 minutes after getting on the thing, we were still driving around picking people up!

We stayed in this hotel for almost 10 days and it was really disappointing. Before I booked I really checked all reviews and I thought that it would not be a bad decission to stay here but unfortunately it was a bad decission.

First of all, the best thing about this hotel is the perfect location. It is right at the Gulhane Station and you just need to step out the hotel and get the train to explore Ístanbul.
It is just few minutes away from the Sulantahmet mosque and from Hagia Sofia. There are many restaurants close to the hotel but actually they are pretty expensive.

Back to the Hotel. After staying in the hotel and reading all the reviews I'm questioning the expected standards of the customers.
Positive thing is that the staff is really friendly and they try to help you with all your questions.
You can book a shuttle to the Airport (7 Euro per Person) which is very comfortable if you have luaggage.
We were welcomed warmly and we received our keys pretty fast. Check-in was without any problem.
Room: We got a room which was tiny, really tiny. It was not possible to pass each other without any effort. The smell was weird and there was no space at all to open our luaggage- beside the bed. The bathroom wasn't clean and we were disgussed to take a shower but my husband wanted to take a shower which was a mistake because we had no warm water so he had to take a cold shower.
Also the flush of the toilet was defect so there was a water flushing noise all the time (and all night)

After all this anoying things the wanted to get rest and watch TV but the TV did not work.
So we decided to go to the reception and ask for another room. They told us that they do not have another room but they will try to arrange another room for the next day.
Next day, they showed us 3 other rooms on the 3rd floor and they were all tiny so we decided for the room which was not at the elevator.
We saw that there were bigger rooms (the door was open while the room service was in) so may have luck and get one of the premium rooms but all other rooms are tiny. This room was better than the first one but the air conditioning in the bathroom was defect so it was running aaall the time even when the light were off. We told it at the reception but they did not take care of it.
They change towels every day which is good. The walls are very thin so you can here almost every word of you neighbour
The breakfast was included in our room price but we tried it once and never again. The breakfast room is in the restaurant next to the hotel and there was a lady who should take care of the buffet but the buffet was almost empty- even at 9.30 a.m.
They had no tea and no coffee anymore. Just one sort of bread and no warm food. No salami, no sausage, no fesh eggs (just boiled eggs). So there was only packed marmelade, honey and and one sort of cheese which is definitely not a good buffet.
We had free Wireless but it did not work all the time.

All in all- if you stay one or two night it will be OK but if you think about staying longer- you should definely look for another good hotel. There are many other hotels in this nice area.

Does the hotel have smoking rooms? Also do they have lift for disabled people?

Do you have disabled access?

hello, you would need to check with the hotel itself but it was at street level with no steps to go inside to the reception desk and there was a lift to all floors and to the breakfast room downstairs; but how it actually is in reality when you need disabled access; would that be in the rooms as well and the bathroom that I cannot answer? it would be best to check with the actual hotel. Thank you. Lisa

Whilst I didn't see the different rooms, it does seem normal policy at this hotel to upgrade you if they can. I would book the economy room and cross your fingers. However our superior room did not have a view. Just the team line - which my kids loved.
