As an American I have travelled all over the world and this Marriott property is in the top 5. If you are on the fence book now and you won’t be disappointed. I can tell that this hotel is managed very well. The biggest thing that stands out is the staff/ team members - everyone was really friendly and helpful, most staff would come up to you and have good conversations about your day. I like how new the hotel was and all of the modern touches. The food here was a huge plus because you can get variety and the quality is very high. Drinking water was plentiful and always stocked in your room. I loved the view from your room. The room was large and comfortable and everything smelled good and new. I really enjoyed the awesome GYM each morning as it had everything you needed for a great workout whether you are doing cardio or free weights. Thank you for all the hard work that go’s into maintaining a high quality standard that makes the difference!…
I loved this experience as it was relaxing and it was a place where we could unwind. The hotel is highly under rated but is a gem. The design, the art, the location, the food, the service, the gym and the pool are all top notch and at par with the finest globally. I will keep coming back and recommending.
This is an outstanding hotel with a very professional staff. This was our first time in Nepal and we wanted to attempt a two week trek in the Himalayas. We are experienced backpackers, but wanted to find a trekking agency. One of the concierges named Prem contacted several trekking agencies for us and found us w great guide who organized a wonderful two week trek for us. Prem followed our trek and made sure everything went well. We were in Nepal for two months and used this Marriott as a base camp for our travels. The entire staff became like family for us as we took several excursions through the country. They made sure we got the right buses and hotels. The M Club lounge is one of the best I have experienced in the world. The breakfast and the evening buffet always had a great meal. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.…
This hotel and the staff are fantastic! I cannot say enough good about them. We were in Nepal for two months and used the Marriott as our home base while traveling through the country. They have a very efficient luggage storage system which we used about 5 times and never experienced any problems. I strongly recommend booking a car service through the hotel for arrival at the airport. The Kathmandu airport is chaotic (at best) so it was a pleasant surprise to step out and see a car waiting for us. The moment we arrived at the hotel, everything seemed to be just perfect. While checking in, we were given fresh watermelon juice which helped settle us after a 24+ hour journey to get there. All rooms have a view of the city - the higher the floor, the better the view. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk to Thamel and is located in a residential area. Walking the local streets and exploring the neighborhood was delightful. The M Club lounge was perhaps the best I have ever experienced - as an Ambassador level member of Marriott, I've seen quite a few. Breakfast was quiet and they offered a wide selection of standard options as well as specialized items. We especially loved their Masala Chai made from scratch (not the standard tea bag). Dinner had both vegetarian and meat choices with salad and dessert. Evenings can get a bit noisy as people enjoy the complementary drinks. Tea and snacks were available throughout the day. Ms Bijaya arranged for several transportation and tour options for us on our travels. The staff quickly learned our names and food/drink preferences. We felt that the Marriott was our home away from home. I can't wait to return. I used the spa services while I was there - mostly the hot tub, sauna and steam room. Other services are available at competitive pricing compared to European and North American countries but there are much cheaper options available locally. However, they are probably not on the same level as what's available at the Marriott. The only drawback (and it is minor) is that the swimming pool is almost too cold to swim. In general, this hotel is outstanding. It is the staff that makes it one of the best Marriott properties I have ever stayed at. Can't wait until my nest visit.…
We stayed in Aloft for two nights. Good centrally located hotel with good breakfast, only issue was small room . We then took a road trip to Pokhra, which was the worst road trip of my life... the road is so bad that u wonder why to take the trouble of going to Pokhra. By the end of the eight to nine hour road trip u are left tired with all the bumps and body ache. Request everyone to take a flight in between these two beautiful cities of Nepal till the government of Nepal does road building ( not repair)
The food was great. Thanks to Chef Aryogya we got to try some wonderful dishes. Not only was the ambience wonderful but service was also good. Will visit again. It’s a good place to hang out with friends and family.
Wonderful experince as always. Most of the staff are very friendly and know the products . Always feel as home away from home. Mrs. Bijaya and entire staff from M Club what a service . The hospitality and care you provided is remarkable . Thank you for the wonderful service.
Came back to this gem after a year and it is as nice as it was last year. Well done Marriott. Kelp it up. The new restaurant Tahina is amazing. There is also a new retail space in the hotel selling many things one can buy. There is no place better than this in Kathmandu.
We stayed here for several nights in May 2022, before and after trekking near Everest. Excellent location - a short walk from Thamel and the Garden of Dreams. Clean and modern, with a very nice restaurant, terrace bar, and pool area. But the staff made it special. Everyone we met there was unfailingly solicitous, prompt, cheerful, and extraordinarily helpful. Directions, currency exchange, room service, printing documents that we needed - even help making international calls. Whatever we needed, they provided - quickly, effectively, and with a smile. (Thanks, everyone!) If you're staying in Kathmandu, we highly recommend this hotel.
Hotel service met the international service standards which is very rare to find in Nepal. We had a sweet stay at the hotel with delicious complimentary dinner, however the breakfast was satisfactory, and the wedding which was happening close to the lobby and bar made it a little noisy and crowded. Overall, friendly staff at the Thamel Kitchen and we had wonderful stay :)
