Mr. Nirakar Regmi used to travel to different places in the country as a part of his job as a police officer. During his travels, he had to stay in different hotels, often for longer periods. A cheerful and a person who loves to interact with people, he never found a hotel where he could go and talk to the owners and feel like home. When he retired after 18 years of service he was looking to do something to keep himself engaged. He discussed this idea of opening a family run hotel with wife Mrs. Mana Regmi, a social worker and secretary at Lions Club. In 2017, they turned their family property into a hotel in Lainchaur, Kathmandu and named it as “Hotel Tranquil”.

Great for walkers
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
I stayed at the property in January during my visit to Kathmandu and I really liked the property. It is located in a peacuful location not too far from Thamel run by a wonderful host in Mr. Nirkar Regmi and Ms. Mana Regmi. I highly recommend the property for long term stays.

Best affordable and clean hotel in the Kathmandu ! Its near to the thamel also. highly recommended. They have friendly environment , cozy room and hygiene food. Mr. Nirakar and the team will always there for our comfortably. I really love stay over there. Best experience

I highly recommend this hotel which is located in a very quiet part of the city but still just minutes away from busy Thamel. Rooms are sparkling clean and hot water is available 24hrs a day. And yeah Ekrit was a wonderful host!

found this hotel through booking website, it's new build hotel, facility are clean and modern look, 10 mins walk to Thamel shopping area, totally away form the crowd and noisy. I stayed totally 6 nights, had really good stay, and enjoy the breakfast.

Just my good luck to have found this place thru Expedia. Location is a short walk to central town in a quiet safe neighbourhood. Place is family run so you come back to smiling faces and greetings. Friendly staff too.
Room has nice modern attached toilet, queen bed, clean sheets. Love the pillows and just nicely firm bed. I took the non AC with wall fan which is enough. Bright lights in both room and toilet. So no dinghy warm light feeling in some other dated town hotels. Strong water pressure for nice hot bath. You get free bottle of water, 2 packs of shampoo and the toothbrush set too. Lots of space for luggage. Tv has only nepalese channels.
You can get breakfast too for 300 - 350 npr. Potatoes, sausage, eggs toast and coffee.
Will definitely recommend friends and return to stay for future trips.

I spent three months at the hotel tranquil this summer and it was a fantastic experience. Clean, comfortable rooms with tv, wifi, and western-style bathrooms made my stay very easy. The hotel is conveniently located near Thamel so it's easy to get around the city without being overcrowded. Most importantly, the owners were extremely kind and thoughtful throughout my stay and made me feel welcome. Couldn't recommend more highly.

You get a wonderful room: a nicely decorated and arranged room, a comfortable bed with a wonderful matress and a super clean bathroom. The location of the hotel is perfect, because it's very close to Thamel, but in a calm and quite area. Enjoy your stay the staff from Hotel Tranquil will welcome you warmly!
