The place is quiet and good for business. My room did not have all what I expected as the safe was not opening (no batteries), the wardrobe doors were broken, the tv is old and small, there was no mosquito net yet other rooms did have. The room is however spacious and clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful, always cheerful and smiling.

Its a good and comfortable and quiet peaceful place. And not too far from Kenneth Kaunda Airport. They have great and friendly staff who are there when you're in need. The food is good and they have a nice choice of beverages. The rooms are average and the clean up good. For those wanting to host a large event, they have a stage that can hold a decent crowd of about 5000 give or take.

On a recent visit to Zambia, I stayed at Mika. I arrived at about 20:00 with no booking. The personnel were very friendly and although the Hotel was packed, they immediately assisted me, at a very, very competitive rate. The room is huge with a double bed, TV, bar-fridge, Air conditioner, etc, it was nice and clean. The bathroom is nice and big with a shower and nice and clean towels. I looked at the different conference facilities, it is fully equipped. If any team or company needs a conference center with lots of place to stay, this is the place without braking the bank. The Hotel has full WiFi, but unfortunately the reception it the room was a bit not good. I had to leave early so I missed breakfast, that is why I cannot comment on that. The hotel arranged for a taxi to take me to the airport, the driver was on time with a nice and clean vehicle. I can with great confidence recommend the Mika Convention Center.

Large hotel with two swimming pools & a restaurant. It is situated a little outside town, about 15 minute drive to the airport. Room large clean & comfortable. TV, A/C & fridge provided. WiFi good in the reception area but weak in the room. Staff pleasant & called for us Uber car when we needed it. Buffet breakfast was good. We had evening meals here too. I would definitely stay here during my next visit to Lusaka.

I am not sure how this is even called a hotel or convention centre. I am just going to list the bad stuff (there is no good stuff) Keep in mind that this ''hotel'' charges $100 per person per night:
1. My Air Botswana Flight got changed, they sent the shuttle there, then left and then never bothered to send another one when the flight was actually arriving. I had to pay for the Taxi at 20:00 at night and they refused to refund this to me. Even though they do charge for the pickup service and we had already paid upfront.
2. The rooms are large but set so far away from the front desk, restaurant and bar. The only way to get to the rooms is to walk down a long dark outside section of the hotel. When it rains (like it did the 3 days I was here) you just get wet. Everything in the room is cheap. Only really one TV channel working as the other are all grey blurs.
3. The place is fairly new but such bad workmanship and low quality materials were used so the place is already falling apart. The bathrooms look like someone slaughtered a cow in there. Stains on the walls, water stains, cracked tiles and a general bad musty smell to it.
4. Trying to get a taxi to go into town takes nearly a hour just to get the taxi to come. A short trip to the shop that is 10 minutes drive away costs $10.
5. The restaurant, bar and breakfast room is essentially a empty halls with cheap tables and chairs. The breakfast is the kind I used to have in a Military mess hall. Cheap instant coffee is what you can expect. Dinner and lunch is a buffet. They have a ''menu'' for those not wanting local buffet and that has about 6 items on it. It is not a printed menu so you will only get to hear about the items.
6. The staff try hard but you can see they do not really know what they are doing. Service industry have never come across they table.
7. The WIFI goes up and down all the time and when it is on, it is not all that great.
8. Room service - Order a beer to your room at a cost of $1.10 and they stick a room service charge on that of $4.50! If you ask the manager about this, they just shrug and smile.
9. The pool is empty. It is a huge pool with a bit of green sludge laying the bottom. And some garbage have accumulated. It is essentially just a place to breed mosquitoes. This wonderful feature gives the place that final touch that takes it closer to looking like a cheap, seedy motel.
10. Final comment. This place is a DUMP and no one should ever book anything here.

The hotel is not fully built. Advertising pool & hot-tub, but not even built yet. The rooms were dreadful & filthy. I was meant to stay 3 nights but left after 1. The food is good but management are plain rude & awful. The manager called my room saying my payment from hotels.com hadn't been received & to immediately settle the bill. I went to reception as the room was dreadful & nothing working including air con & shower! He was so very rude I would actually recommend the owner sack him, his attitude is appalling and he treats his staff badly.

I would never ever stay here or suggest anyone stay. Please go to the protea - they are the same price & as good as radisson

Stayed here as there was a convention in Lusaka and we could not find alternative anywhere so spent four nights here.
Arrived late pm and one of our colleagues in the party was told his room was not ready. We all waited an hour or so for him to get his key. On arrival at my room, the television did not work, not a single plug socket in the room worked (only in the bathroom), the telephone did not work, the a/c was kicking out tepid air - certainly not cold, curtains were hanging down from their hooks and there was not a single hanger in the cupboard to hang clothes on. Some of my colleagues had a room safe, others not, some of their electronics worked, others not. Wifi was intermittent. Swimming pool by our block had a tiny bit of rather dirty water in it. The final straw was on our last night when we all arrived to find we did not have any bathroom towels. We were advised that the hotel washing machine had broken and they would replenish our towels whilst we went to dinner. Needless to say, we all left for the airport the next morning without having received them.

The only plus I can think of is the team of very friendly staff.

Incomplete structure with a lot of work still to be done.Though still under construction, some tiles are already broken and the finishing of the walls is quite amateurish and lacks finesse. The buildings (Conference rooms and all) have really steep steps which clearly is a danger, The steepest step is the one in dining room ( It must be at least two feet high) As a warning to clients there are paper notices next to the steep steps which say "MIND THE STEP"...Beware of the steep steps would be more appropriate I think.

Advertises swimming pool which turned out to be mosquito breeding site as it is just a hole in the ground with lots rain water (rainy season in Zambia this time of the year). No TV reception for full two days since management had not paid for the TV subscription Follow up at reception yielded a feeble response blaming IT section for not having done its job...now everyone familiar with DSTV knows that if you have not paid your dues service is terminated and you will get on the TV screen which says "NOT YET PAID..." Well for me it was two days of utter boredom as there was nothing to watch or listen apart from the repeat adverts on the DSTV promo channel which is always on.

On the plus side (despite their failed attempt at justifying the TV issue) reception was rather polite and fast at responding to one's needs. The restaurant serves freshly cooked food although the prices are rather steep for a hotel of its nature.

The rooms were freshly made every day and the provisions replenished daily although I don't see need for a new toothbrush every day of my stay there. I ended up with three of them. The gym has to be best feature of this place as it has state of the art equipment and really flexible opening hours...big ups for that.

On the whole it not really a pleasant place so I wouldn't go back there unless under duress. There are other out of town lodges and hotels in Lusaka which offer far much better services than Mika.

One night. Have driven by this hotel numerous times but this was my first stay and use of faciliities. There was clearly a lot of money invested to build the hotel. The gym is impressive in terms of equipment and even the subscription fees charged. The food was good and I am a picky eater at best. Other than that, yikes. The settlement and sagging of walls is evident all over the place. cladding is popping off in some many places due to this. There are structures that are in failure mode everywhere you look. Electrical sockets hanging out dangerously and not working at all. Slippery smooth porcelain tiles are the reason so many clients experience nasty falls (I witnessed two in 4 hours). Stairs appear anywhere and everywhere. And they are not the same height. One stair is 200mm high walk 10 metres and next one is 50mm. in the rain get used to slipping and sliding eveywhere. The room. Damp i figured there was saving when doing the foundation and slab. The water damage is evident everywhere. The sockets and switches are so poorly constructed, its a risk to use them. Furniture is cheap and ostentatious from the seedy streets of a known asian source. The shower, I couldnt. Discoloured and damp. openee the balcony doors to get in some fresh air. Couldnt lock them after. Faulty lock.a The ceilng looks nice. There are broken floor tiles everywhere including around the swimming pool. At least i think its a pool. Staff!? One lady at reception, another two in the restaurant were professional and efficient. The rest? must get their salaries from another source. Clearly not from customer revenue. They would treat customers differently. The restuarant is llke boarding school dining hall. drop edges everywhere poor airconditioning and noisy. Sit outside or near the entrance. There was no thought to how hot it would get because of its size or to fire exits. In a place where regulation is respected, this place would have been closed down or not even granted a license. Fire hazards, health hazards, fall hazards, potential collapse of structures and Electrical hazards are all over the place. It is such a shame.
