Help - How do I contact Broads Backpackers? I can't find any contact details on any site.

Can anyone help with e-mail address or their own website??? None of the sites give actual contact details and the place sounds nice.

It was a nice place. Restaurant had a nice local crowd and some good bbq so that was pretty interesting. The dorm was kinda odd as me and my friend seemed to be the only travelers. The rest seemed to be either staff or people from the bar the crashed there for the night. Anyway, some of my clothes went missing. Nothing valuable taken, since we locked that up, but we left after one night, as a result. I brought this up with the staff and they didn't really care. Despite that, I enjoyed the place, so its unfortunate.

I was suppose to stay at another hostel, but when I arrived they where just about to upgrade their Internet, which I need for school, so I asked for a recommendation on another hostel (in my price class). This place was the first to come up, and I can understand that. I stayed 5 days in the dorm. The beds are comfortable and have mosquito nets, but lacks of lockers. If you leave the dorm, you can place your valuables in the reception and they will store it for you for free. Since this place is a restaurant aswell, there is many locals here. This place never seems to be empty, which makes it a great place to meet both locals and other travelers. As mentioned, this is aswell a restaurant. I myself, don't really give the food a high rate, but for the money you pay for it, it's definitly worth it. On fridays (I guess it's every friday, not sure, the sign still hangs there and it's thuesday) they have a pig on a spet special, meaning they have a whole pig on the grill. THAT is tasty! Too bad they don't do that everyday. They have WIFI, but you have to pay for it (20 kwatcha for the whole day). The WIFI can very in speed, sometimes it's really slow, but most of the time it's really good. I've managed to upload videos on Facebook over 400mb (took a while..). The staff is very helpful, even if it seems they are not used to get tourist questions (like, how can I get to the museum etc). It's walking distance from the bus station aswell to the city centre. I give it 3/5 because it's nothing special, they can improve, but I like the vibe here and will definitly stay here the next time I visit Lusaka.

Mosquito nets full of holes and rooms don't close properly (5 cm gaps between door and doorframe therefore rooms full of mosquitoes) Toilets smell, toilet seats full of urine.
Food takes long and sometimes the order gets forgotten. Especially the Receptionist with very unfriendly, arrogant attitude.
Will never come back.
Place used to be different !

We only went to Broads for meals. There is a barbecue and a buffet. The food is absolutely amazing traditional Zambian dishes. The buffet has about five meat or fish dishes and five different vegetables plus a choice of bread, sheema or rice. On the barbecue you get chicken (one portion is half a chicken), pork chop or the most amazing T-bone steak you can imagine. It's very large with lots of atmosphere and a huge bar. Extremely good value.

Broads

We stayed here after staying in another terrible backpackers around the corner, Flinstones - we didn’t think it could get any worse than that, but we were wrong. We expected noise from the bar and restaurant as we were staying in one of the ensuite rooms in the main house near the kitchen and restaurant, but we didn’t expect that they would be demolishing and replacing tiles from the kitchen (the room next to ours) the whole night. They were using sledge hammers to remove tiles until about 2am. We had asked them 3 times to stop before that. They continued making noise through the night putting up new tiles and tapping them in place, and restarted with the sledge hammers again at 6 am. We didn’t get any sleep at all and had to be up early the next morning. The staff generally didn’t seem able to make the guys stop working, and the receptionist, while really friendly and helpful generally, didn’t offer much sympathy. Would recommend staying somewhere else.

Broads Backpackers is a really nice place to stay. Much nicer than Lusaka Backpackers where we also stayed some nights. I honestly don't understand why people are raving about that place. Broads has way nicer rooms (take the chalet, much nicer than the rooms) and better and cleaner facilities with steamy hot showers.

Broads Backpackers also has a nice lively bar where a lot of local people come to drink a beer and/ or eat some food. The BBQ is simply amazing. We had a massive BBQ steak and it's super yummie. It's close to the bus station and malls.

All-in-all I would definitely recommend Broads Backpackers for your low budget stay in Lusaka!

Despite the racist review from one traveller and the scathing review from another my friend and I have found broads to be pretty okay. No five star hotel but what do you expect for 100 kwacha (20 U.S or so) each for a twin room with ensuite. Haven't tried the restaurant but breakfast is cheapish and filling (toast, coffee and cereal for 20 kwacha) but the staff are friendly and its a very safe atmosphere. Dunno about the other reviews but it seems as though the negative viewers wish they would treat you like royalty in an economy that is still developing. Expect some rough edges but I would stay again.

Stayed here after leaving another hostel. We were very disappointed with the previous one, and saw Broads by chance. To our surprise, even though it had much better facilities, nicer staff, and a restaurant full of locals (which we usually take as a good sign), it was cheaper!
The room was clean, they gave us towers, soap, tp. We even had a beach chair out front by the lawn.
The restaurant turned out to be great, we ate there 3 times, ordering different things, and everything was good.
Location is a bit out of the way, but the restaurant more than makes up for it.

This place caters too much to Zambians. What do I mean by that? Nothing offensive, but the standard humility one expects of a professional management staff to the clientele is noticeably absent at businesses that mostly serve Zambians and this place is no exception. When I arrived at 1am I was led to the dorm by the acting manager at that hour who promptly turned on the lights inside causing the several would be sleepers to wince and roll over to shield themselves from the light. I could see perfectly fine without the lights on so I hurriedly dropped my bag at the nearest available bed and stepped outside to sign in and pay. The manager was the last out the door and shut it without even bothering to turn off the lights. I had to ask him to.

That was just the first sign that I wouldn't like this place. I also picked up bed bugs from sleeping here. That's probably the biggest demerit.

I'd avoid the restaurant as well. On every table there was at least one dead fly. If the staff sprays so much insecticide in the dining area that flies instantly succumb upon touching the table cloth then I don't even want to think about how much residual insecticide I've been exposed to by eating there. Not that you'd want to eat there. I tried the omelette. It seemed safe. I mean how can you screw up an omelette? Well, they'll show you how. It was like eating a sponge soaked with oil that's been saturated with salt. I couldn't take but a few bites.

Avoid this place!

Please stay far from this place. When you travel all the way from your country and get there, the owner Mustafa, who confirmed the booking will keep cutting you line without answering. Once you get there, you will be told that they don't have a room!!! It happens tomorrow somebody just now and when you tell the owner that you will put it on the big, he threatend me to report me to police!!! Itz a terrible terrible place!!!
