A member of the hotel staff knocked on our room's door while my boyfriend was taking a shower in a shared bathroom outside. She said the hotel owner wanted to see me. I went to the reception to meet him, and while I was there the owner stalled for time, giving me an alternate phone number for this hotel as well as asking to see my guidebook. While I was there, someone entered our room and took all the money in my boyfriend's moneybelt, which he left in the room when he went to take a shower. The owner of this hotel seemed all too calm when we showed up with the police- he denied being involved and we never got our money back:( Avoid at all costs!

Our experience is too similar to another review here, that it makes me very sorry to know that I could have avoided Losuia hundreds of dollars if I had read the reviews before staying here.
The room was with a shared bathroom, and when I Went to take a shower, a receptionist knocked on our door to tell
my wife that the manager needs to see her Immediately. She forgot that my money belt was on the bed, and left the room (but locked the door). The manager kept her waiting for a few minutes (even though she was called out urgently!) and when we came back to the room, all the cash was gone. At least they left us our passports...
Regardless, the place was not very appealing and we later found a better hostel for less. Shop around, just don't go here.

We arrived in Lusaka after a 50 hour train ride from Dar es Salaam followed by a very uncomfortable 3 hour ride in a packed mini van. We had no idea how long the train would take as there doesn’t seem to be a standard arrival time, so we hadn’t booked a room. The first place we went was full, so our taxi driver suggested this place. We were utterly exhausted so just agreed. The receptionist was just ice cold and he room was only half finished being renovated. It smelt of paint, the tiling in the shower wasn’t finished and there were loose electrical wires hanging down in the shower where a light should have been. But hey there was a bed and that was all we cared about, what’s a little electrocution? My partner went out to the bar to have a beer and chill out a bit, but the bar staff was really rude to him for daring to ask for a drink and then couldn’t give him change from 50 Kwacha even though there was a bar full of people drinking. She made him get the 10 Kwacha for the beer and water from the money we paid for the room and told him he had to pay it back in the morning. The next morning while he was out trying to get change, some guy came knocking at our door looking for the 10 Kwacha. He said he had lent my partner the money for the beer and needed the cash back. I had no idea who he was and it made no sense. Turned out they took the 10 from this guy. Place is just weird.

Unwelcoming, Staff is absolutely NOT helpful, stinky shower and toilet, without toilet paper of course...
Loud in the evening and in the morning.
Bad value for money.
For the same price I would advise to go to Lusaka backpackers or something similar.
This place is not OK, and our expectations are low as we are two young backpackers with limited budget.

a very welcoming warm friendly place, helpful staff and good food only a little slow on food service but freshly cooked food no precooked meal definitely worth the wait.

You get what you pay for in most of these things. The rooms are essentially garden sheds packed together, the walls are so thin you can hear the people in the next room breathing, not snoring, just breathing. You get given sheets with suspicious brownish blankets. The toliets and showers are a bit grim but there is running water at least and electricity.
Staff aren't too bad although I'm pretty sure when we asked them to get us a taxi into town that the driver was semi-drunk.
Not the worst hotel ever but only stay for a night or two if you are absolutely exhausted and aren't that bothered about where you sleep.

Our experience of Flintstones was really poor. We were a group of 8 and we had booked 4 twin rooms well in advance. On arrival they only had two twins and two doubles but this didn't work for us at all because of the mix of sexes and ages etc. We asked for additional rooms to help but they refused unless we paid extra even though it was their error! We ended up having to wait until they put extra beds in the rooms etc. The locks on the rooms were very flimsy and the bathrooms were not at all clean. Very disappointing.

Hello there, I just spend another night in the Flinstones backpackers! Thank you to the lovely staff, who remembered me from five months ago! So much work is being done by the young owner! The new lounge is looking fabulous! It is so close to the central bus station, and the large shopping mall. Rooms are simple, but clean and for Lusaka very reasonably priced. A lot of work is being done right now to improve the place. Very friendly and helpful staff and a lovely young owner, who gave me a lift to the airport! A BIG thank you to all and good luck for the future!

We stayed one night, between flights, which was enough, there is very little on offer closer to the airport and nothing actually at the airport. It is pretty basic, but then this is Africa and generally the standards are lower even in hotels(which we also stayed in on our trip). It is ok if you are on a budget. We didn't go out so I don't know how close the city centre is,from the map it looks quite close.
