Not much has changed since I stayed here seven years ago. There is still this weird arrival scenario with every vehicle being send to the lot and guests having to drag their bags up a ramp to the entrance of the hotel, while the car access to the main entrance remains closed to cars. Also, the cut of pipe which cut my foot and caused an infection resulting in surgery and three months in hospital is still exactly in the same place I stepped into it.

Staff at this hotel is extremely friendly and if you get one of the newly renovated rooms, the rooms are nice to. otherwise the hotel is visibly tired and in need of some TLC apart from being somewhat of a sprawling labyrinth with little to no charm in any of the common areas. The most appealing part is the bar at the pool and the poolside restaurant, where food is also quite nice, but lunch offers the same buffet every day.
Breakfast is served inside the main restaurant which has the charm of a 1970 soviet hotel and food is mediocre at best.

Given the pool bar is one of the best features it is a great shame that it closes around 18:00

My expectations were low based on the reviews here but the experience was better than I had hoped for. I was on a business trip so didnt use the swimming pool (which was being repaired), and the children's play area was totally inaccessible. Room was comfortable. The gym was basic (no working airco, very cramped) but I have seen worse. Breakfast good. It may not live up to a 5* experience in other countries but in all not bad.

I stayed in this hotel for just one night due to a canceled flight. The airline transferred us here boasting of the fact that it let us stay in a 5 star hotel. Well, I would like to understand the criteria used to give or rather maintain 5 stars for a hotel like this. Structure let go. Old rooms, bathroom with tub that looked so dirty that I couldn't even take a shower. Paper hygiene started and almost finished. Only one shower towel, no hand towel. Air conditioning with faulty thermostat and very dirty air outlet grille. Kept off all the time. Bedroom light burned out, therefore with bedside lamps on. The sockets are almost all disconnected. Buffet breakfast with very little choice and the dessert part, none of them were fresh. The swimming pool complete with Jacuzzi full of sand.

Our party of 5 arrived at the hotel around 7pm with confirmed and paid bookings. We were told there were no rooms available at all as they had over sold the accommodation. We waited in the bar (with a free bottle of water) for almost 3 hours while the prepared a floor of rooms that had been closed for refurbishment. The rooms we were given had a bad damp smell, the air con didn't work and my bed collapsed during the first night, the bathroom was dirty, falling apart and didn't feel hygienic. Generally a poor first impression.

The restaurant was disgusting after about 30 mins of use as they don't clear tables away. The buffet breakfast was a joke and ran out of everything if you turned up anytime after 20 mins from opening.

The pool area is also run down with many dangerous exposed wires, broken tiles and sharp edges around.

The only saving grace was the hotel bar and staff, they were good and deserve some credit.

Checkout took almost 20mins for no apparent reason. I just desperately wanted to leave at the end.

Please read the reviews if you have any intention of booking, the hotel is vile, apparently the 6th floor is better but that's not difficult to achieve. The room I was in wouldn't even get a 1 star in Europe.

I doubt I will ever intentionally stay there again.

This for me is one of the top three worst hotels i have ever stayed in Africa. I stay in many hotels and I can honestly say there is not even one positive comment i could give to this King Fahd Palace Hotel. Aggressive staff at checkin; bedroom doors do not close properly, housekeeping just walk in without knocking, the breakfast is worse than school lunch, staff take forever to do anything and no one appears to be in charge.

Upon arrival one is met with a barricaded entrance and security people who yell at you that you must walk from the car park area. Doesn't matter how much luggage you have, the entrance cannot be entered and you must walk from the car park. By the way, the car park is dark and possibly not safe. When I asked at reception why they do this - it's for "security"... ???

Check in was as if they had never done it before.

Rooms are OK, but coffee and water are not replenished. Toilet leaked.

Food left me deathly ill.

Meeting facilities are miles away.

Gym is mostly closed - at least at times like early morning when someone would want to use it.

Restaurant service was reasonably friendly but food was bad.

Breakfast was completely inedible.

No signage, so no idea how to get around the place.

Banquet room had very little a/c.

Overall the place and the staff are old and tired and clearly the management looks only at the cost and does nothing with customers or service in mind. It's a great location, but would need to be torn down and rebuilt and re-staffed before I'd consider staying again.

Be very wary of this hotel. They take money from your credit card without approval. they have charged me twice for the same night. Payment wa taken over 6 weeks apart too. The Hotel refused to respond to my emails until my company got involved but are still denying taking two payments. Will never use this hotel again., which is not a bad thing as the staff are incredibly rude and the rooms smell of damp.

Looking twice with two young children and nanny. place totally empty and huge. go figure. went to the pool and beach. again deserted. rarely i have seen a 5* so run down. tiles coming off, pool ladders coming off, rust everywhere. unsmiling staff. below par food. why would anybody chose a dump like this i have no clue. on second time we went were welcomed by a posse of totally wasted drunken americans, guzzling bears and dancing to very loud music. smoking, honestly i do not remember seeing such a show in another 5* property.

Very safe and huge, there’s also a big shopping mall inside the hotel. I was able to see the Senegal President and also the Guinea President during our stay there. They had conference there and also spent the night there. This should tell you how safe it is and the hotel is very close to the Senegal US embassy. The hotel got beach as well.
