Hotel Thule was originally a one-time luxury home built by the late Edmund Lafrenz in 1960 as a sumptuous home for himself and his late wife, Liselotte. It was purchased by Windhoek businessman and entrepreneur, Wolfgang Egerer just before the turn of the century, who then reconstructed it into the beautiful up-market 25 bedroom hotel it is today. The outstanding panoramic views over Windhoek are a unique and unparalleled feature of this pearl of Namibia. Hotel Thule offers first class accommodation, quality service, tranquility and style to ensure customer satisfaction.

This was a "last minute" booking. We booked a 7 day southern Namibia tour and booked rooms before and after the tour at a backpacker's lodge. Unfortunately that had appalling conditions. So after an uncomfortable first night we canceled the last night and booked Thule instead. We were so glad we did!
The room was huge. Other than the bed there was generous seating area and there was also a desk with electrical points, a tv, coffee and tea drinks are and a fridge.
The bathroom was also big with both shower and tub. I don't usually soak in a tub but after days of camping this was a welcomed rest and relaxation. I know there is a water shortage in Namibia so I didn't fill the tub that much. Just enough for a relaxing soak after 7 days on the go. There were toiletries and the hot water was adequate.
The hotel has a restaurant on site with sweeping views of the city, being situated on top of the hill. We just had to try the Oryx steak, it is something new. Sadly the taste was nondescript, not gamey enough and way too tough. We asked for medium done. Maybe rare or medium rare might be better. The dessert we ordered turned out to be just full of sweet jelly. I can't remember the name. See pictures.
Breakfast had quite a spread and most are sumptuous.
The staff was very helpful everywhere, making sure we were comfortable and attended to our needs. They even granted us a late check out without charge from 10am to 1230pm, as our flight out was very late in the afternoon. At check out they helped us contact our tour operator to ensure our transfer to the airport.
We enjoyed our stay very much. This was definitely value for money. Will stay here again if I come back to Windhoek. Thank you Team Thule!

Thule maintain excellent quality service for many years and even during this Covid 19 period.
Value for money and a home away from home. Stuff members are very helpful and friendly, food is great , parking for vehicle is close to your room and very safe in comparison with a parking somewhere in a basement.. I recommend Thule for families, Couples and business sleep overs.

Lovely, charming hotel with a beautiful view. Great, friendly and helpful service. Clean, spacious family room with two comfortable double beds. Lovely breakfast. 24 hour security. We booked for a family of three and we appreciated that all three were catered for with towels, soaps, coffee, mugs etc. (Some hotels only cater for the adults which can be frustrating) Highly recommend this lovely hotel!

Unfortunately I am very disappointed with Hotel Thule in the past year. Thule used to have lovely little dishes one could order when having a sundowner (Chicken liver, baked Camenbert Special spring rolls and all with a special touch). They scrapped all those from the menu and now only have average dishes left on the menu ( Chips and samosa and drumsticks). Then we went with a group for breakfast. SO DISAPPOINTING you advertise your breakfast as special but there is nothing special about it. Regular omelette/eggs, muesli, bread and average cheese and cold meat. There are no special items as advertised. No attention to detail. Also the breakfast staff seriously need to be more friendly and attending. Sorry but you will not see us again for breakfast.

+ Location of hotel is nice and secure.
+ Room view is very nice on the top of Windhoek.
+ Restaurant in the hotel offers nice food with a nice city view.
+ Room was very big and separate double floor ( not like standard hotels ).
+ Boutique hotel concept is nice.
+ Staff is generally helpful.
+ WiFi works properly without any problem.

- Open buffet breakfast options should be improved.
- Staff should be more trained as sometimes they can not handle your requests ( They could not issue invoice for my company name for taxi shuttle ).
- A/C was not cooling all place of room as room size was big.

We had booked Hotel Thule through Booking.com but when we arrived they did not have any record of our booking (despite us having confirmation emails). Despite this, the hotel staff managed to find us rooms and went out of their way to help sort out our later bookings for our trip. The hotel is in a fabulous location overlooking Windhoek and the quality of the rooms and the food was very good. We were travelling with some guests that had limited mobility so they gave them a ground floor room, which was great. The only drawback was the steps into the restaurant. Overall we were very happy with our stay and very grateful for the assistance they provided us with as a result of the issue with the booking.

Lovely location in quiet neighborhood with panoramic views over the city. Clean, spacious accommodations with good, hot showers, and lovely on-site restaurant with nice menu. Just try to avoid sitting near a large tour group with big-mouthed guy lecturing loudly at the dinner table.

The receptionist made an error on our bill but was quick to apologize and rectify it when she recognized her mistake. Very friendly and accommodating staff.

Wonderfully situated on one of the hills at Klein Windhoek, this hotel offers lovely views on the hilly area of Klein Windhoek. Sitting in the restaurant at breakfast time, you can watch the beautiful sunrise. The hotel offers all comfort one needs to start a trip through Namibia. Quiet, safe and a very warm welcome from the side of the staff. Excellent price / quality balance.
The hotel is well integrated in the area and has a specific charming architecture.

We have stayed at this hotel several times and have absolutely loved it.

Best features are:

The hotel is located on top of a hill permitting great views of the hills, the city below and the fantastic sunset.

Attention to detail given by the management is commendable; rooms and premises are meticulously clean and in good working condition. Staff are polite, friendly and they aim to please.

The breakfast buffet is sumptuous. Dinner, sundowner snacks & drinks menus are comprehensive.

We stayed two nights here and the very nice manager gave us a late checkout because our flight was in the evening.

We enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back.

This is an excellent and extremely good value hotel. Fantastic setting overlooking Windhoek with great views and a wonderful sunset. The room was generously proportioned with a comfortable bed, lots of space and a large en-suite bathroom. The breakfast is generous and sets one up for the day. Friendly and helpful staff. The sundowner terrace and restaurant were a little noisy on the night we were there as here was a party on the lower terrace but I guess this was a one-off. We will be back.

I agree this is a flaw in Trip advisor review system . If a reviewer makes a criticism and the management responds there is no facility for the reviewer to make any further comment. Very frustrating, please give consideration to this Trip advisor.
