We recently stayed at Omaanda for ten days, seeking a refuge from our busy lives and lockdown stress. It was perfect for our needs - away from the world with only a handful of other people within the 9,000 hectares of the reserve. The rooms and facilities are maintained to a very high standard and we were consistently impressed with the quality of everything in the lodge (beds, shower, baths, etc) and in the attention to detail. The staff are excellent and super friendly. The food was tremendous - despite staying 10 days we didn't have the same meal twice. We had the all inclusive package and it worked out as excellent value - both the food and drink was of a very high quality (their house wines are superb). The views are amazing: we were able to sit on the veranda of our lodge and sip a drink while watching elephants wonder by.

We spent 3 nights at the end of the trip due to Covid testing but are glad we did. The rooms are well appointed with refrigerators a lovely dressing area and large bathroom with both a big tub and walk in shower. The rooms have air conditioning and a fireplace. The reserve is great with optional additional meerkat excursions and is teaming with white rhino and predators. They are set to expand allowing for more game to be housed and protected. The infinity pool overlooking the waterhole is large and the bar and eating area were large and the food excellent. They even have a spa and massages there can be substituted for one of the other game drives as you receive 2 free activities each day. There is 3 pieces of laundry daily also included. We received our Covid testing there as well and their airport transfer is included. A great place to end our trip.

Our last 2 days in Namibia were spent here, while we awaited our COVID test results. It’s quite expensive, but has everything one could want. The rooms have or-conditioning or heat, the latter of which we needed, as well as fireplaces. Each night staff prepared a fire for us to enjoy after dinner. The amenities were top-notch, and the shower and bathtub had plenty of hot water. The rooms were luxurious for sure.

Food was good to great, depending upon what was ordered. The springbok on the last night was one of our best meals in Namibia, and the Norwegian salmon and sole were excellent as well. My only small complaint would be the poached eggs, which didn’t have runny yolks, but this is what we found throughout Namibia, so it could be the way eggs are cooked here. The wines, a South African Chardonnay and a Game Reserve Cabernet, both complimentary, were excellent.

There was an infinity pool overlooking a watering hole with loungers to enjoy the view. We went on game drives early morning and sundowners in the late afternoon, seeing cheetah, lions, wild dogs and rhino. Only the lions are collared, so finding the others was a welcome surprise. The lions were walking ahead of us on the road, seemingly unbothered by us.

If I have one complaint, it would be service. We were picked up in Windhoek and our driver got lost trying to locate our hotel, so we waited 75 minutes past our expected time, which was a bit frustrating. He was our server most of the time we were on property, so I think he was a last-minute substitute. Otherwise he was on it. I was surprised that the staff didn’t speak more English, especially so close to Windhoek. I’m sure this will change over time.

The room and location itself is absolutely beautiful, and the food was more than amazing, but I have to note that I was a bit disappointed in the service. When I was in the process of booking the room, I asked about horse riding, but when I got there, they were informing me about every activity other than this, and eventually called my room to tell me that there was no availability for the one activity I wanted to do on my one night stay there (I couldn't do any morning activities as I had a long drive to take the next day). I do believe that this activity should have been either reserved for me, or the lack of availability should have been relayed to me before my stay, considering I reached out to them to confirm availability beforehand. Other than this, there were no lights on the pathways from the rooms to the main dining area. Dinner was after sunset, so I was a bit afraid to try and find my way there alone. When I called, they said that they could either send someone to walk me to the dining area, or I could have room service. I opted for room service since it was chilly by that time, which was not ever picked back up I'm assuming until after I'd checked out the next morning. Lastly, when I got in the room, I noticed that there was no clothing iron/board, so I called reception to ask for one to be brought to the room, and although they agreed at first, I was eventually told to just place any items that needed to be ironed in a laundry bag, and their staff wold take care of it. I didn't realize until the next morning that they were charging me for the service, albeit it's what I would have tipped anyway, but the next place that I was staying provided laundry services for free, so it was just annoying that I wasn't made aware of this beforehand. Other than this, the staff were friendly, most notably the waitress (I'm unsure if she was also the chef), and the person who helped me with my luggage and parked my car - they were such lovely people.

Dear Guest thank you for your review, it is appreciated. With reference to your note about the horse riding activity, this would have been shared by our reservations team at the time of the booking, since we are situated on a wild life reserve, we do not offer such activities on site. Our neighbor property do offer related activities, but have to be pre booked in advance depending on availability. It is part of our standard service to accompany any guest to and from the rooms, especially after dark, which should have been available to you on the night as indicated. Our property does have lighting installed on the pathways, and we also have flash lights additionally as part of the room setup for assistance when using the pathways after dark. Laundry is unfortunately not included in our accommodation fees, neither do we have ironing boards and irons within the rooms, the laundry service is an additional service we have available for our guests, and we apologize if this was not explained clearly to you during your stay and on your enquiry. We will utilize your constructive feedback to improve our service for the way forward, and we hope to welcome you back to Namibia again. Our aim is to ensure the comfort and satisfaction of our guests. regards

From all we had read about this place, we expected an exceptional experience and from our disastrous stay I have to assume that Zanier has an excellent publicist.
The arrival was chaotic, they seemed overwhelmed and we were told to take a seat and relax but there was no available seating. A little later an explanation of what we paid for was one game drive total, then one a day and finally two per day. They were confused and argued amongst themselves as to what was included. Finally we were shown our room which was right next to the reception, we could look out our windows and watch people sunbathing. We requested another room but this could only be done on the second day. They blamed our agent for not telling them we did not want to be next to the reception. All the rooms are close and we had to listen to our neighbors blasting music in the afternoon.
At night we were kept up by a party going on at the fire pit next to our room. If I want urban living I could stay home.
They did finally convey to us that we could come for coffee and a muffin at 6 am and the game drive at 6 30. At 6am there was nobody there, no coffee, nothing. We finally found someone in the back who made us coffee ( almost undrinkable ) and of we went for a game drive.
In two hours of driving the “Ranger” found nothing but did point out the airport which is next to the camp. The guests in the vehicle did find a zebra and rhino deep in the bush. There are very few animals here, they claim 3 lions and three elephants but not a sign of them or anything else. The poor ranger had no knowledge of the animals apart from looking up in a book he had with him , there was no explanation of anything. He was clearly embarrassed ( and a nice guy ). Zanier should know that training a ranger takes more than a book on animal. There was coffee on the game drive but they forgot the milk and there were two cookies to be shared by 4 guests.
This was just the tip of the iceberg. I complained to the manager and he said he would investigate. We paid fully for 3 nights but after just one night stay we left, I could not put up with this any longer.
They had many excuses but don’t have a clue about hospitality. Unless they hand over management to some competent company this place will be gone.
I have been to multiple safari lodges in several countries and these people don’t have any idea . Don’t waste your money here, there are much better options and this place is not cheap.

Omaanda is a great way to start (or finish) a trip to this beautiful and fascinating country. Located close to Windhoek airport, the lodge is stunningly beautiful with really comfortable accommodation, great food and wine, and first class service. It has an on site game reserve with a nice selection of wildlife. Highly recommended, especially in combination with their sister property Sonop which is also outstanding.

The management staff were very confused about our arrival, because “it wasn’t confirmed”… I showed them the confirmation email that I received just a couple of days prior. Some head scratching and finally they said our room will be ready in an hour. I mean, we were 1 of 3 guest parties…

It’s a gorgeous location with very impressive buildings. We stayed in the 2-bedroom bungalow. My favorite part was the fireplace in the wall between the bathrooms and bedrooms. There’s a lovely tub with a big window overlooking… a little bit of nature, and a lot of bit of the other bungalows. If I can see the other bungalows, it means those guests can see you, taking a bath. There’s so much space, yet the layout seems to be very poorly planned.

The food was delicious. Drinks are overpriced. The sunset views are gorgeous. The working staff (waiters, maintenance guy…) were very friendly and helpful. The waterhole was dead quiet. We didn’t do any activities but according to some of the reviews, it’s a horrid experience anyway.

This place definitely has the potential to be amazing. However, none of the management staff seem to be briefed on the mission, so the vision of this luxurious, supposed 5-star hotel shatters to the ground. And they’re all scratching their heads, wondering who will clean it up. I also noticed that they only answer the great reviews… it’s a joke. They have no desire to improve.

Just because it’s internationally owned, doesn’t make it better. I’ll be sticking to local Namibian companies who know what hospitality is.

We stayed two Days/Nights at Omaanda Lodge, it was a fantastic experience. Very nice staff, good dinner and Breakfast as well as lunch! Nice infinity Pool and big well equipped African bungalows make this Lodge and location unique & perfect for a stop before departure or just after arrival at Airport. There are even activities like game drives, Meerkats meeting drive etc.. available. We can absolutely recommend this Lodge!

Friendliest staff, fantastic experience and best memories. Cornel, Monique and their team were excellent and took care of all the "admin" leaving us to only focus on relaxing, enjoying the experience and eating in all that this unique venue has to offer. I'd advise this as the first option to anyone looking for a truly remarkable experience.

There is no denying that this is a beautifully designed lodge with high quality finishes set in very nice surroundings. Overall we just didn't think that the price tag was justified vs. other lodges that we stayed in on our trip.

For starters, our room, whilst nicely decorated didn't benefit from a view (room seven). We looked out over the two huts in front of us and one of the huts was only about 50m from the pool. It is odd that the huts are positioned so close together and in rows behind eachother when there's so much space and scope for all of them to have incredible wilderness views. We could even hear music being played by our neighbour which detracted from the experience.

The other big drawback of the room was the lack of windows. Only having glass doors means that you have to sleep with air conditioning on rather than listening to the sounds of the African bush outside.

The food was absolutely delicious and we had a wonderful waitress who seemed to permanently be on service and was always smiling and being attentive, but she was at times having to serve 20 people dinner alone which doesn't feel like the right ratio of staff to guests.

This is a hotel where people come for one night at the beginning or end of the stay (due to the proximity to the airport) and the way the management interact and treat the guests made it feel like a transient place where they're constantly moving onto the next guests rather than valuing the current ones.
