We, a family of 5, wend for the "famous" Sunday lunch to Okapuka. It was ok, but N$ 500 per person for basic "Hausmanskost" is just far too much. The meat was beyond dry and the desserts really nothing to talk home about. Service was friendly and prompt, the setting is nice.

Stopped off here for lunch on the way to Windhoek. We turned up on the hoof and they were so odd about us not having a reservation to the point of being off putting… fair enough if you are full but there was plenty of space when we got up to the lodge. If there’d have been another location nearby to eat we probably would have abandoned it and gone somewhere else. It’s a shame because (once they let us in) the lodge is very beautiful and food good.

Easily accessible via the A1 motorway, there is a new bridge that leads directly to the entrance to the Resort. From the entrance to the facilities we cross the railway and have the opportunity to see some wild animals. The facilities are very beautiful. The reception-bar-restaurant area is very beautiful, well decorated, airy, spacious and comfortable. The room is very spacious, the loft bed is very comfortable and the bar furniture is very well equipped. All the staff were very attentive and helpful. The food we ate for dinner was very good. The wine list is equally good and varied. The place is very quiet and allows for longer stays. Ostriches are an excellent "host". unfortunately we only stayed one night. Let's go back. It is important to confirm that the GPS is updated with the new A1 access points
To improve: there was a towel on the floor and there was dust on the furniture and in the room.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While we wish you had a better experience, it is feedback like this that we learn from and use to improve. We work hard to deliver an exceptional guest experience, and it's apparent in this case that we fell short. We will do our utmost best to catch up to our previously good and very good reviews. We look forward to being your host again at one of our lodges in the future. Sincerely, Your Gondwana Team

During our visit to Okapuka Lodge on 10.03.2024, my 3.5-year-old son unfortunately suffered burns on his face and eye from hot candle wax that was standing in the woman's restroom, prompted by a power outage with no backup electricity or generator. As my child cried in pain, I sought help and approached the manager, but her response was indifferent, simply asking, "And what?" When I urgently requested ice, ointment, and other first aid, she dismissed my plea, attributing it to my tone. In such an emergency, I anticipated a more supportive and helpful response, especially considering my child's distress. Regrettably, the manager displayed no concern for the severity of the situation, offering neither an apology nor empathy. Such management behavior in emergencies is disheartening and deserves attention. This lack of responsiveness was disappointing, overshadowing what should have been the priority—ensuring the well-being of guests in distress. Unfortunately, our day ended in the hospital.

Absolutely fabulous day in Okapuka. We decided to book a game drive here for our last day in Namibia and we were not disappointed! Our guide Vonia (apologies if we misspelled your name!) was the best. We saw so many animals, her pace, driving and explanations were excellent - only topped by her gin and tonics. We loved the experience so much we immediately booked a sunset drive and Vonia was able to find us bat eared foxes! Just magical. Thank you for making our last day in Namibia exceptional!

Easy to reach within 30 minutes from central Windhoek. Day visitors for restaurant and game drive welcome. Nice set-up, very friendly reception, great food. Quiet pool area, reserved for resident guests. Ostrichs and warthogs roaming through the greens around the bungalows. Great gamedrive in private reserve with lots of game. A bit noisy because of close motorway and trains driving through the property. Still, definitely worth to visit. Typical great Gondwana spirit.

A small get-away from the Windhoek busy life. We enjoyed being in nature and spending time together as a family. However the menu wasn't really child-accomodating. Maybe consider adding some kiddies meal options for lunch and dinner?

Perfect experience for a first stay in Namibia! At the arrival, you are welcomed by a very friendly staff. The rooms are really great and freshly new decorated. Breakfast is amazing. Free coffee, tea and cake in the afternoon and excellent dishes at dinner time. Prices at the restaurant are ok!
During the safaris you see so many fascinating wild animals; lots of explanations of the guides.
Very well situated, not that far from the capital city.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Staff was amazing and it’s the perfect place for a quick getaway from the ever busy city. I loved everything except for the fact that there aren’t a big variety when it comes to drink’s especially cocktails, add that and it will be perfect. I’m a cocktail kinda girl 😁 I’ll be returning soon.

Forget about the advertised Lion feeding (they lost their licence) and the crocodiles (they have moved on). Ignore the pictures of the rhinos on the website, there are none.

This is a sad place. The management don’t care; the staff are apathetic and cooking is the worst we had in Africa (re-heated and/or out of the deep freeze).

We had booked here because of the proximity to Windhoek airport but were still expecting an interesting and enjoyable stay.

During the checking in process it was clear that no one was interested, no welcoming words and a glass of a sweet unidentifiable drink.

And no, we would not be staying in one the thatched huts overlooking the meadows. We were whipped up to the Mountain Lodge, a large concrete bunker decorated to be a “hunting lodge”. The rooms were small, musty and not very comfortable. There was no service in the lodge or any way to communicate with the main reception. There was a bar with no drinks, no cool water and empty (and switched-off) refrigerators. The pool and surrounding area was filthy.

This place is a bit of a fraud and should not be able to advertise as having “Comfort, style and a glorious view ….”.

Do not stay here.

Note, this review is one of many from a trip to Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique undertaken in Sep/Oct 2016.
