This is as good as it gets when it comes to customer service. I seriously have never felt this much compassion from a hotel or guest house owner in all our years of traveling.
There was an issue with our reservation when we arrived. The staff were not able to resolve this problem, but they quickly reached out to the owner. He personally came to meet us even though he was off the property at that moment. I think he specifically came over just to talk with us.
Anyway, long story short, he was able to sort out our problem.
We are staying in the wonderful apartment that looks right out to the pool.
If I can say anything, I highly recommend paying just a little bit more and staying in the apartments. They are the best rooms at this place! There are 3 rooms in the apartment that face the pool, and one of them is even an small office. If you have work to do, it’s the perfect place to get it done. Both bedrooms also face the pool, and it really does feel like a tiny piece of paradise in Maputo. It really is totally worth it to spend a little extra and stay in the apartments, trust me! The others rooms look nice, but the positioning of the apartment really is the best at this place. You won’t regret it.
I now understand why the reviews are so high for this place. It’s rare to find this kind of customer service anywhere in the world. I did not expect it here in Maputo…but boy was I wrong.

Our room was very clean and the view from the patio is beautiful. The owner Nuno helped my friend and I navigate the city with his recommendations, calling us affordable taxis, and telling us how much things should cost so we wouldn’t get overcharged. He really cares about his guests which you wouldn’t get at a hotel.

Guesthouse 1109 is a well-located and well-functioning hotel with pleasant rooms, friendly staff, and excellent breakfast.
The place has a pool, sun loungers, excellent wifi, and assistance with airport transportation.
The only small downside is that the rooms are quite noisy. The doors have gaps at the bottom, so all sounds from the corridors and the rest of the house can be heard. But if you are a heavy sleeper, it doesn't really matter.

Reliable and cheap regarding organized taxi transfer from the airport to the hotel. Very friendly staff and owner. Small room but very well maintained and very clean. Everything works properly, i.e. AC, shower, internet, good mattress. Breakfast good, fruits good, a real coffee is available on demand. Good PQR.
Anytime again when in Maputo.

The guesthouse is centrally located and is really good value for money. The hosts are very very friendly and most helpful what regretfully not can be said of their staff. They are hardly greeting you, are totally disinterested and you feel not welcome at all. We had room number one and this was clearly not their best room. It is half a basement room, which overlooks the parking area. Very noisy at night, since a bathroom is situated at this parking area, and is used by the security and staff. Couldn't sleep from 6 o'clock on due to the noise of the doors banging and the flushing of the toilet. We asked for another room the next day, but were told that that was not possible. The doors are very low and I banged my head twice when going to the bathroom, doors are 1.60 m high... I guess the ceiling was 1,85 m high ? The bathroom has no windows nor extractor fans what resulted in the damp not able to leave the room and as this was a half basement room, you could smell this when you entered the room. The bathroom is extremely small.
Breakfast was minimum and was disapointing.

The guesthouse is located in the center of the city. The most lovely couple runs it, Nuno and Katia. The rooms are decorated very nice, Breakfasts have it all. It was so nice to come back in the end of the day, always welcoming. There is also a pool and a nice balcony looking at the bay.
one day we had to leave at 5 am so they made us breakfast to-go. it was so nice of them.
Very much recommended!

Staying at the Guesthouse 1109 is like staying at your own home. Nuno and Katia exceed themselves for you to feel at home. The staff have the lesson learnt too...such friendly People!... Breakfast is good. She cooks as the guest sit for breakfast, everything is fresh and tasty. Rooms are of different sizes, meet all needs. Beds are large and bathrooms spacious. Great value for money compared to most hotels around the area. It is close enough to the center to walk. But not right in the center of crowd. Will surely be back soon!

My fiancee and I checked into Guest House 1109 as we needed to spend a night in Maputo between flights from Tofo back to Cape Town. Found this gem on the internet and have been recommending ever since! Fantastic service, great location. Easy access (and safe) to shops, we even got a take away order delivered from the Indian restaurant as there was a massive thunderstorm underway. The food was also superb. Loved the honesty bar near the pool. Rooms were comfy and had every single thing we could desire including good wifi. Breakfast was fantastic. Wish we could have stayed longer. Cant wait to be back. Well done team!!

I had a short stay around Christmas, but would have liked to stay in this lovely little place longer and would definitely return here if back in Maputo - it is well thought (there’s a rooftop cafeteria/bar, and eg. nespresso machine in the room for a small extra cost in case one wishes to indulge instead of the usual instant coffee), and the staff / people running it very accomodating. The location is good, too.

This guesthouse is a great alternative to the pricier hotels in Maputo. The rooms are smallish but great (and extra large) make up for that. Everything else is there as well: from a mini fridge to a decent sized flatscreen tv, clean bathroom with walk-in shower and everything else you could expect from a hotel room. The property is located in fairly ideal area in terms of dining options. It's also walking distance from some of Maputo's major sites such as Casso do Ferro, the train station and fort. The owner is very friendly and helpful. There are two large dogs that reside more or less permanently in the courtyard in front of the guesthouse but even for a person who's not very into dogs like myself they did not bother me at all (very well behaved and quiet). The small pool was too cold for us to swim in but that may be because it was a fairly cool May when we were there.

Hello there. Yes - I do remember a safe in the room. The hotel works with a very nice chap for pick ups - I speak under correction but I think it was around 1000 mets one way. I don't know what that equates to in your currency. Also do remember that most vehicles (especially taxis) are a bit old and beaten up. Don't let this put you off though! You will get there safely. It's all part of the experience.
