Detailed Reviews
Fabulous boutique hotel in so many ways! Great location 5 mins walk from the Cathedral and other monuments or 10 min from downtown. Very warm, friendly staff, absolutely amazing buffet breakfast included (best Ive had in more than 3m travelling in Africa), well decorated rooms, comfy bed, great shower and very secure. Pool and small gym room too. Celia booked our transport to Tofo for us - door to door. Great part of town too - we loved our stay!

Very attractive guesthouse with comfortable and very clean rooms. You can get to the city quickly and you can walk to the supermarket and restaurants. You also feel comfortable and safe. The breakfast is of course the highlight... delicious Pasteis de Nata and much more.

I had a very nice stay in this clean & cosy guesthouse.
Pros:
-daily efficient cleaning
-excellent breakfast: choise of breads, fresh fruits, good coffee, all you need
-total security with 24h gatekeeping
-comfy room, excellent matterass, my double had a french bed
-WORKING internet access
-within walking distance to Baixa (downtown), ok by daylight, less at night
-airport transfer available (to be booked & paid)
-nice little garden
-trust bar
Cons:
-far from main restaurant area, which is located along Avenida Nyerere. Solutions: have your own car or call a taxi (both pretty expensive)
-reception rarely serviced, you can always ring the bell and someone will come, but if you just need a chat about things to do, places to go.. you might not feel like bothering them
-no mosquitonet around the bed, but "only" windownet (efficient, but can make the room a bit claustro, for those who like to have a look outside)
Other tips
-often fully booked, so book ahead
-NO credit cards accepted

Residencial Palmeiras is great. I travel to Maputo regularly for business and usually stay at one of the hotels that my client has a "special" arrangement with. This time I decided to rather pick my own accommodation and it was the best decision I could possibly have made. Cost me half the price, the room was better, breakfast was better, the staff were friendlier, the location about the same.
The house is immaculately clean (inside and out) and quite pretty. The room is spacious, bed is comfortable, they serve a continental breakfast, but it goes well beyond an average continental breakfast. Bathroom is large enough with a bigger than average shower and everything works and is clean. Wireless internet in the room was easy to set up, fast and reliable (first 450 MB is free, that's per week if you're staying long).
Despite the language barrier all the staff did very well to understand and cater for our every request. The manager Celia was travelling elsewhere during my stay, but arrived back just as we were departing and took the trouble of coming to introduce herself and checking that everything was ok, which added a nice touch.
Two minor things I picked up that might be improved are (1) that the towels in the bathroom appeared to be quite old and in need to replacement and (2) sometimes the reception area would be abandoned and we had trouble locating a staff member to help us with something, so a decent bell in the reception might be a good idea too.

Situated +- 2km from downtown Maputo in a residential area. Premises is well kept, clean with a pleasant ambience. Rooms are adequately equipped & are clean & well maintained. Staff are friendly & Celia a very friendly hostess. Parking is secure within the property on either side of the house, the left driveway being very narrow though. Free Wi-Fi is available, however works best downstairs in the dining area which can be somewhat frustrating if one's looking to do some work in peace & quiet. Breakfast was good with variety to choose from. Only negative were the NOISY next door neighbours who had scant regard & sat outside in their driveway talking & laughing noisily away until after midnight - needless to say didn't sleep very well as a result. Overall a pleasant experience, but if one's sensitive to noise, may prove problematic.

A colleague and I booked rooms here for a business trip and stayed 4 nights. The grounds and rooms were very clean and well kept and the house itself was tucked away on residential street, making for a very quiet atmosphere. Air conditioning worked great and each room has a private bathroom and very a comfortable full size bed. We met Celia, the owner, a few times during our stay and found her to be completely charming and very helpful when we asked her about a few things to do during our free time. And I agree with the other reviewers, breakfast is lovely!
Downsides: wifi is only available in the garden and breakfast area and for folks traveling for work this can be an issue when you need to answer or monitor emails primarily in the evening due to time differences. Also, can get a bit boring in the evening if you are used to surfing the net before bed and don't happen upon something interesting to watch on the TV. Since the house is tucked into a residential, taxis are hard to hail and the hotel security had to help us most evenings to find one. In every case, they put us into an unmarked car which had us wondering if we were actually in a taxi or if we were in just a neighbor's vehicle that happened to be there. We also hoped there might be a little bar or restaurant on the grounds, but food is limited to breakfast and an honesty bar where you can grab some candy or beer and wine. Also, they do not accept credit card, so you will need to pay in cash.
A several steps above a backpackers retreat, but a few to many steps below what most would typically would use for a business trip in terms of convenience of eating and getting around. Overall though, still a very pleasant and warm stay at a low cost in what can be a difficult country to travel through perhaps ideal for those looking for a place to disconnect and get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

a lovely little guest house on a pretty quiet street within walking distance of the whole city centre and coastline. Beautifully furnished rooms. Excellent security and 24h access. Secure off-road parking. Very friendly staff. Very comfy beds! Really good breakfast, and a courtyard garden with plants, lovely for relaxing. Honesty fridge, so you can take a beer out to the garden. Scrabble and chess in the garden! No noise heard from the street. Free wifi, although we could only get reception in the garden and not in our room. The only downside - the shower was a bit trickly, not very strong, but otherwise really excellent - good value, and we couldn't recommend this place highly enough.

Good central location with easy access to shops, restaurants and plenty of banks (there's a Barclays a 10 minute walk away, which you will need, as cards are not accepted at this guest house!). The rooms were an adequate size, clean, with a TV, phone and tea making facilities. Not all rooms have a safe, which was an inconvenience.
The breakfasts were very good with a wide selection of goodies. The outdoor garden area was lovely but unfortunately it was not warm enough to make full use of it.
It would have been great to have WiFi in the rooms as you have to go outside of the main building in order to get to the dining area to access it. I was, however, able to pick up a signal by loitering at the end of the hallway (which is above the dining area).
Take a Portuguese phrase book as this will greatly aid communication with the staff.
My only other gripe is that you are not able to have access to an iron. They will iron for you, but for a fee.

We stayed here twice in one trip and loved it! The staff were so kind and helpful - although sometimes finding them in the guesthouse was tricky. The breakfast was the best we had in Mozambique, selection of fruit, pastries, yogurts, teas, cereals and more. The rooms were big and had good size bathrooms with hot water. Not a noisy area and felt completely safe. Definitely would recommend to anyone

Hi Teresa,
as far as I can recall Palmeiras charges between 2,900mtn for one person to 3,850mtn for two people sharing: this equates to approximately 130USD for two people.
It is however a new year, so I suggest you contact them directly via e-mail or phone for an accurate quote:
