The Inn is small so booking is essential. The accommodation is good, clean and all have on suite bathrooms. The food is delicious and very good value. The hosts Liz and Paul make you feel very welcome and run a very well oiled establishment. The Inn is just off the main road and is very secure for those travelling with boats etc. I fully recommend this Inn as an overnight stop.

Blue Anchor Inn is a convenient place to spend the night when traveling up further north and Paul and Liz provide comfortable and clean accommodation. The 24hr electricity and air-conditioning is welcome as are the delicious dinners and drinks by the bar. I was impressed by the security and had a good nights sleep knowing that our luggage was safe in our vehicle. Be aware of the length of time it may take to get through the border and through the Maputo traffic jams (just driving around Maputo can take up to three hours) and if you are going to be late for dinner phone ahead and pre-order your dinner. A very popular spot that needs to be booked well in advance during the holiday season.

We stopped over here after a 11 hour drive from Durban. The situation is just perfect. Clean comfortable rooms. Most rooms have safe parking right next to room so no need to unpack vehicle. Paul is a great host and a mine of information on Mozambique. The pub is cosy with great atmosphere. The menu is limited but thoroughly enjoyed the prawns and prawn curry. You place order at pub and meal is served quite quickly. Breakfast can be ordered from 6.30am for an early start. Continental or British available.

Rooms are big, clean, neat and comfortable. The property is secure and I felt safe leaving our car and trailer parked overnight. The food is really good. It is somewhat pricey, but restaurants are generally more expensive in Mozambique. This is the ideal place to stop and overnight if you're on your way into or out of Mozambique and you're looking for a place to sleep over close to Maputo and the South African border at Komatiepoort.

After a very long days drive, we were pleasantly surprised to have a beautiful room with two big double beds (all have proper mosquito nets). All rooms are grouped two by two in a duplex thatch style scattered over a large grass compound. Each room has ample space to move around and special attention to details such as suitcase space, clothing hangers etc. have been provided. Towels and basic toiletries were provided. The showers were wonderfully warm. The reception and restaurant area was very beautiful and very unexpected compared to the drive through Mozambique. The hosts/owners were very friendly and hospitable and run the bar and reception themselves creating a wonderful relaxed homely feeling. The food (although a little expensive – because most is imported from South Africa) was 5 star quality. Every choice on the menu looked delicious and our party of 4 were truly impressed by the quality and effort that went into every dish. We had complimentary coffee on the morning of our departure. The hotel is situated about 800m in from the road, but is still easily accessible by any vehicle. There is safe parking in front of your room with the premises protected by fences and security. Although the accommodation was slightly pricey, it was well worth the money (compared to other places in Mozambique) and we will definitely stay here again in the future.

The accommodation at the Blue Anchor is great. All rooms had air conditioning and are very well laid out for couples and families.
The restaurant food was excellent and service was top class.
We really enjoyed our stay and will be going back on our next trip to Mozambique. A great place to stop over on your way north or on the way home.

I have been stopping over @ Blue Anchor since 2009 and found it to be the best stopover in Maputo. The prices are spot on and food and bar facilities are of top quality and the beds offer you a good nights rest. Early morning departures are no problem and the hospitality of the highest ever. Well done to Lizz and co for my 'home' away from home while I am traveling in Mozambique.

If you are looking for a great stop inside Mozambique once you have crossed the border at Komatiepoort, look no further than the Blue Anchor Inn. Great couple running the Inn, good clean rooms, a fantastic dinner both times we stopped there and a good price too! Highly recommended!!
