At Hilton Addis Ababa, guests frequently praise the hotel for its vibrant atmosphere and attentive service, creating a homely environment that's further enriched by live music and stylish decor. While some travelers find the pricing fair and cleanliness top-notch, opinions on the rooms vary; refurbished rooms with great views are a hit, yet some guests report outdated conditions. The hotel's amenities, including its lush gardens and sports facilities, receive consistent acclaim, though a few note the dining experience and bathroom functionality could be improved.

We stayed at the Hilton in Addis for 3 nights whilst on a work trip. All the staff we encountered were lovely, remembered our names and made us feel right at home. The pool area is gorgeous and an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of Addis.

My only gripe with this hotel however is it seriously needs updating. We stayed in the newly renovated rooms too and the bathrooms could do with a major clean - you could see hairs on the floor. The tiles looked very old. The cleanliness just wasn’t up to scratch.

I also had issues with housekeeping during my stay - they kept waking me up. The 1st time during the middle of the day was no big deal, but on my last night I was woken up at 3:45am with someone entering my room. I heard a loud bang and then the lights turned on and I saw a woman go into the bathroom. She said she was from housekeeping and had towels and sheets with her. Why was she doing this at 3:45am? Not particularly impressed and raised a lot of safety concerns for me. I had a good time but next time I will stay somewhere else.

Overall the stay in the hotel wasn't that bad however I think there are some expectations that come with the Hilton name that aren't met at this hotel. The room looked like it is shown in the pictures but a little more worn. The bathroom looked quite dated with a tub shower with shower curtain. The room was spacious and had a small balcony. The check in was also quite fast though during checkout there was only one staff there at the front reception. Some of the more disappointing things were no complementary room wi-fi internet (for non-members). Although I am a member, it just seems so cheap not to include internet. Likewise they charge $10 each way for the hotel shuttle...I didn't even know hotels did that. Also very cheap. I had an incident in the restaurant where, to make a long story short, I could not order what I wanted due to the incompetency of the waiter and there was no initiative to refund the meal. Considering the cost and quality, I would much rather stay at Best Western which is cheaper and in most ways better except for room size which is why I gave it only three stars. Also, I replied to their survey which they emailed highlighting my issue in the restaurant and I was also surprised that I didn't receive any follow up. Not impressive concern of customer satisfaction which is why I don't plan staying there again.

I stayed in this hotel with my children over the new year of 2021. My children stayed here longer than I so I only experienced just one night. The hotel is as pricy as Hilton gets but you receive the services for it. My children enjoyed the new year eve party by the poolside organized by the hotel and they enjoyed it. The rooms are very clean and the staff are very friendly. The breakfast is also very nice with a good variety to choose from. Their measures to protect their clients during this pandemic is commendable. Their is a small supermarket, the Novice, just next door and one can buy the small snacks they need. They also have tennis courts which i would love to try on a next visit! And when you join the "Hilton honors club" you get to enjoy free wifi...

Wonderful hospitality and a hotel with all you need and doesn't feel ostentatious. A big thanks to Miriam at the reception for the quickest and most efficient check in and allocation of a room that was exactly to what I needed. My favourite moments were by the pool bar in the warm and relaxing greenery. Superb service provided by the bar manager Mekdes Abebe. Not only did she offer great hospitality. She was also so honest that she came chasing me to give me back money that I had overpaid (I had paid someone else's bill by mistake...). If that's not the sign of a place and staff you can trust, I am not sure what is. It felt like home and I am very sorry to leave. Warmly recommend over any other hotel in Addis that i've stayed in.

My family and I stayed at the Hilton Addis Ababa recently on a vacation to Ethiopia, and I am so glad we did! It is an island of calm in a bustling city, full of amenities, a full service resort with an array of businesses on the grounds, including a bank which made it easy to change currency whenever we wanted. The Hilton Addis is a great home base where you can count on a comfortable bed, a great meal, security, convenience, and world-class service. The staff at the Hilton were incredibly helpful, and made it a memorable stay.

As it happens, the airline lost one of our bags (that had some of our medications and other travel necessities) which was a blow after a very long travel day. We made our claim at Bole, but things looked grim. The staff at the hotel were incredibly helpful, in particular the concierge, Temam, seemed to make it his personal mission to get our bag back and called the airport and Lufthansa multiple times a day. In the end, we got our bag (!), and I wonder if the airline went to extraordinary lengths just to get Temam off their back. It was awesome.

The hotel itself is beautiful, with subtle architectural details evocative of ancient Ethiopia throughout. There is a coffee ceremony running continuously in the lobby with incense and the smell of roasting coffee beans wafting across the main lobby. You might think that these are just for show, and only attended by foreign visitors; however, this popular feature was almost exclusively attended by locals. One of my regrets is that I wasn’t brave enough to sit down and partake.

There are several restaurants, and they are all good. Western fare is available in the main restaurant, at the bar, or at that amazing poolside eatery; however, my favorite was the vegetarian “fasting menu” which includes shiro tegabino, atakilt, and misir wat (obviously injera goes without saying). The Ethiopian Pepper Pot soup is not to be missed. A great place to practice your conversational Amharic.

The grounds are incredible. Trees everywhere, you can almost forget you’re in Addis. Basketball courts, pools, tennis, spa, an array of shops, bank, Ethiopian Airlines office, conference center, and a convenience store around the corner in the parking lot. It’s almost like a small town. Don’t forget to get out and see the rest of the city!

The newly opened Unity Park is right up the hill, a short walk away. I highly recommend the VIP tour (1500 birr), which leads inside the restored Imperial Palace of Menelik II and Haile Selassie. Remarkable.

It has been a real disappointment to me as a Gold HHonors member for more than 15 years to stay at Hilton Addis Ababa in January 2020. It is common knowledge that the Hotel is old and most facilities are worn-out but previously it was compensated by the traditionally high level of Hilton service. I can say so according to my previous stay at Hilton Addis Ababa on July 2013.
Actually this privilege has disappeared. When I asked the Room Service for a hot chocolate for a child an coffee for us that it is allegedly 24/7 service according to the Hotel In Room Menu, the answer was that 'the machine is off and it will take 40 (FOURTY) minutes to get it running again. I was surprised but said OK - it was 11.40pm.
Furthermore, at 0.38am when the family was already sleeping with 'DO NOT DISTURB' sign at both doors (we had two connecting rooms) there was a knock to the door (??), then more and more... So everybody was awakened :(
Since actually there are not only Hilton and Sheratopn in Addis, but also Hyatt, Marriott, Radisson, Ramada and so on, I would recomment to choose an option other than Hilton.
Thermal pools are still there (btw, only 3 from 5 were working) bt the Hilton level service disappeared.

For the last four days of June, I stayed in the Hilton A.A. for a Regional Conference. As part of the delegation and organizing team, I was met with an accommodating marketing, management and later on operational staff which began from the first day contact was established. Because of COVID-19 the event was hybrid with over a dozen participants in the Hotel and over 200 others joining from 15 countries in Africa, Asia and Europe virtually. My stay and that of my fellow participants was hygienic and well-kept in spacious conference rooms especially in light of the pandemic. Our specific requests like special internet service and accommodation was also duly recognized and treated as such. The Hotel team have indeed delivered a resilient service packed in a nostalgic setting. A special Ethiopian thanks to Mr. Anteneh, Mr. Claus and Ms. Vanessa.

Not enough towel in sauna, stuffs don’t have a welcome smiley face but they are very polite though. Shower and toilet needs to be repainted and separated from the Gazebo gusts. Women’s are not comfortable to go through the bar to the swimming pool while many drunk guys watching them.

Dear 866samie, Greetings from the Hilton Addis Ababa Team! We would firstly like to thank you in taking the time to share your experience with us. We would like to apologise for outside sauna located on our property, and please be advised that we will share this feedback with their management. In regards to the shower & toilet, please be advised that our pool and gazebo toilets and shower are seperate. We have a Gazebo toilet which is close to the sauna, and we have toilets and showers which are located in the swimming pool area, far from the bar and prying eyes. Please feel free to use this facility on your next visit. On a different note, by the end of his year, we do hope to have completed a few renovations and trust that it will be up to our guests satisfaction & comfort. Thanking you again for the feedback and wishing you a great weekend. Kind Regards Vanessa Albest Operations Manager

Great location, really pleasant and clean rooms, but the thing that makes this such a good place to stay are the staff. All of the people are incredibly helpful and generous with their time and advice.Breakfast is sooo faboulous 10/10.
We also felt very safe with their covid 19 protocols. The towels and beddings smell and feel very clean and fresh.
Overall we’d highly recommend this hotel for a city break or if you like to be in the centre of everything. We found it very good value as well compared to other “luxury” hotels in the same area charging 3-4x for a similar room type.

I’ve stayed in Hilton Addis Ababa for two weeks and what a wonderful place filled with wonderful people! It has been such a warm, African welcome and flawless experience throughout. They made quarantine as comfortable as possible with making sure everything and more is provided for, regular check ins and a professional room service team as well as good quality food.

When I was able to leave the room after a week of self isolation the facilities was such a spoil. A huge, naturally heated pool with poolside service, jacuzzi, gym, spa, tennis courts, beautiful gardens, mini golf, pastry shop, ticketing offices, salon, ATMs and the list goes on. Basically everything you need for your convenience including onsite PCR tests is available. The front office, housekeeping and engineering team are prompt and professional.

The best part was the food and beverage. In a difficult time this team are managing to exceed expectations and deliver exceptionally friendly customer service. The lobby bar is classy and cozy for anything from a quick bite to a great cocktail or glass of wine. The breakfast has everything you desire including traditional coffee. Fantastic. The most popular area is the Gazebo bar and restaurant where you have a great fire at night and a all day dining menu including an ice cream bar and live cooking as well as live entertainment over weekends. The pizza cooked in a wood fired oven is a winner as well as the fresh salads. The Sunday brunch at Gazebo is something you cannot miss. Free flowing champagne and a buffet including local delicacies, fresh salads, shawarma, kebabs etc. This area always has a great atmosphere and is made even more enjoyable by the Champagne and live music at the Sunday brunch.

I’d like to specifically mention a big thank you to Claus, Alain, Chef Leon, Vanessa and Hibist, as well as the room service team, breakfast team, Elsa in the executive lounge (here Hilton Honors Diamond members can enjoy the best city views, drinks, snacks and personalized service by Elsa).

To sum it up:
Do yourself a favor - book to stay here, come for a meal, a drink, a meeting, a massage - you are sure to be well looked after.

What are room amenities? Water kettle? Hair dryer? Microwave? Fridge?
Answer from V.Albest
Dear 5Mliz, Thank you for your question. At our property, we have different room types where the room amenities may vary slightly. In the normal room categories, you will have the basic of mini fridge, kettle, tea & coffee facilities. Bathroom would have hairdryer available. Additionally iron & ironing board available. We do have studio rooms which would have a small kitchenette, i.e. stove, microwave, cooking utensils, mini fridge and the other normal room basic amenities. The apartment rooms that are either 1bedroom or 2bedroom, would comprise of same amenities mentioned as the studio but much more spacious in size. I trust that the information was quite helpful
