The 31 Lokuthula Lodges offer exceptional value for money and are located in the grounds of the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge estate just 4km/2.5ml from the Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. The lodges are split-level in design and open fronted with drop down blinds affording magnificent views of unspoilt bushveld. A nearby waterhole attracts a wide variety of wildlife throughout the year including warthogs, bushbuck and many species of birdlife are often seen in the gardens surrounding the lodges. All lodges have air-conditioning in the downstairs bedrooms, ceiling fans in the lounge and loft and mosquito nets. Of the 31 lodges, 19 may be booked on a bed and breakfast basis through our Victoria Falls Safari Lodge reservations department like any of our other Victoria Falls properties. There is also an option for the lodges to be booked on a self-catering basis.

Lokuthula Lodge was booked as part of a longer trip across 3 countries and I am still not aware of what the cost of staying here was, as my trip was a total price, not individual for each location. Having said that, it is probably very cost effective which is why it was part of my trip. I will explain more in a moment.
The accommodation is very clean and very comfortable and the grounds are wonderful with plenty of wildlife to observe. The rooms are very large and have a main bedroom, upstairs loft bedroom, lounge room, bathroom and kitchen as well as an outdoor seating area and BBQ. I was surprised to see that one of the walls of the bungalow was in fact a canvas tent wall. This had the advantage of letting the breeze flow into the lounge room as well as the sounds of the wildlife outside. It also had gaps near the roof bearers which allowed in the mosquitoes. The beds do have mosquito netting but that is because they need to, the mozzies are everywhere at night. This is my only real concern with the accommodation but as I said earlier, perhaps the value of the rooms makes up for it.
The reception for Lokuthula Lodges is up the road a little way, not far but you will have to walk the dirt road for a few minutes to get there if you are being picked up for tours.
I chose to eat Dinner at Victoria Falls Lodge in the same grounds but had to also settle my account on each occasion as they don't charge back to Lokuthula. Breakfast at Lokuthula is excellent though and the Boma drum & dinner show is also at Lokuthula but I did not attend that on this trip.
If you have no issue with the canvas wall and the likelihood of mosquitoes in the room, I highly recommend Lokuthula Lodges. The people who work there are very friendly and helpful and the grounds are beautiful. Note, they use the rectangular 3 pin electric plugs in the rooms here, not the round pin plugs. There was one round pin plug in the kitchen for the appliances so I used that to charge my phone. Wifi is available in the rooms. They have a free shuttle into town through the day and Victoria Falls is just up the road, great location.

Dear Brad We appreciate you taking the time to let us know about your most recent visit. It was an honour to welcome you to our Estate. Thank you for staying with us. We are glad to hear that you had a fantastic experience and that you found our rooms to be large, clean, and extremely comfortable. We take note of your comment about the mosquitoes. Yes, they can be unpleasant but they are malaria-free and we have our own weekly fogging programme to keep the infestation at bay. Please keep well.

The lodges are small thatched cottages spread out in the grounds. They have basic kitchen areas, a small lounge and bedrooms / bathrooms. I’d say they are a pretty good budget option compared to some of the other hotels close by which are three times the price. The lodges are simple, clean but you need to provide your own toiletries etc. reception staff were great and very helpful. It’s located on the same grounds as the Victoria Falls Safari lodge (luxury lodge) and this is accessible for drinks or dinner. Also in the grounds is the Boma restaurant / drumming show - for light sleeper it finishes by 9.30 so not an issue at all for us. Do book if you want to go to the show and you get a discount for being at Lokuthula. They offer a shuttle service at set times / drop off points into town which is good, alternatively taxis are $10 each way if you miss the timings of the shuttle. There are often animals around the garden areas of the lodges. Expect to see Kudu, impalas, warthogs etc everyday. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it if your budget doesn’t stretch to some of the more luxury lodges.

Just home after an amazing holiday at Lokuthula Lodges (Lodge 20 in our case) on a tour of Victoria Falls and Safari in Zimbabwe and Botswana. The lodges are a perfect base to call home for a week (or more if you are lucky enough) – they have plenty of space to relax, comfy beds, good bathrooms/showers, all spotlessly clean (and if you are self-catering they have everything you need including a barbeque in the garden). And for the icing on the cake they have wildlife all around – roebucks, warthogs, mongoose, monkeys and more – in our opinion far better than a hotel room in the town. Breakfast was taken on the terrace of the Boma bar and was always delicious and plentiful, in a beautiful setting. Most evenings our dinner was in the MaKuwa‐Kuwa restaurant – great food, great service, and an amazing view of the waterhole and elephants on our first night! The Buffalo bar also had a great view of the waterhole and the vastness of the bush, a perfect spot to enjoy a cocktail and watch for visiting wildlife, as well as the daily spectacle of vulture feeding. In addition we were treated to some special dinners by Lokuthula as part of our tour, but I don’t want to spoil the surprises so shall say no more than thank you Lokuthula!
All of the staff (from gardener to general manager) could not have been friendlier or more obliging, always taking time to say good morning and checking that the guests are well and happy. The grounds are immaculately maintained. A courtesy bus service allows you visit town and the falls easily, returning to the peace and tranquillity of the lodges at the end of the day and always a good nights sleep.
There is an activities desk where you can book all sorts of amazing activities, from game drives, helicopter flights to rafting and bungee jumps for the brave. Our tour was managed by Colette, who arranged our full itinerary and kept us all well organised, a challenge I can only compare to ‘herding cats’.
So a big thank you to Lokuthula, and Colette for a great and unforgettable holiday.

We stayed one night here arranged by a travel agent as part of a safari. Compared to the other lodges we stayed in, this one was dated and felt a bit scruffier. Spraying the property for mosquitos would help. The property is spread out and you have to walk to get to check in or to the breakfast area and lighting would be nice considering there are warthogs and baboons in the area, which can be intimidating in the dark. We don't mind the walk, but since its in the dark with animals around, perhaps golf carts would be useful. For that matter, paved pathways would be nice rather than walking in the sand too, as pulling our luggage from our lodge back to check in through the sand and rocks for our transfer was challenging. In addition, we were not sure whether the Boma dinner was included with our package, so we asked at the front desk and were told it was not included without anyone looking up our specific information. Turns out our travel agent had already booked it and included it for us and we missed it as a result. The staff were nice, but the fact that they didn't even look it up but just told me no was frustrating to have missed a big dinner show experience. It's an accomodation you can live with for one night as we did, but any longer would have been uncomfortable. The Safari Lodges on the same property looked nicer and we might have booked those instead had we been given an option. When you visit the restaurant for breakfast and see Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, you almost felt like you were on the "wrong side of the tracks" heading back to Lokuthula Lodges. It was also never fully explained to us that the water at the property is purified and safe. We were given what appeared to be tap water but it was never explained that they purify it so we were not inclined to drink it and didn't realize it until we were leaving, so we were all dehydrated.

Dear Clark family We are in receipt of your TripsAdvisor Review after your recent one night stay with us at Lokuthula Lodges. Our sincere apologies that your short stay with us was less than satisfactory. It seems like information flow was not adequate as this product did not meet your needs and you would have preferred to stay at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge. From your review, it seems that our team did not do enough orientation at check in to give enough information on your accommodation and options you had on the Estate if you had chosen to stay in any of our other facilities. This also speaks to the issue of our triple filtered water served complimentary , which is our conservation effort to do away with plastic bottles on our Estate. This water is very safe to drink for all our guests and staff. We have a mosquito infestation in Victoria Falls this year. We have a fortnightly fogging program in place but this has reduced and not eliminated the mozzie problem on our Estate and in our City. We must hasten to report that our medical authorities have advised these mozzies are not the malaria carrying ones but they are still a nuisance. We sincerely apologize for all this unfortunate situation and we hope you will return and enjoy a much better stay with us in future. Regards from Lokuthula team and the management team.

Vic Falls was our entry point into Zim for a safari trip. We opted for Lokuthala on the back of it being comfortable and convenient accommodation for an affordable price.
Our cottage was a 2BR setup with a kitchen and 1 bathroom. Everything was comfortable and clean. There are stairs to get up to the second bedroom and also a short drop to the living room/kitchen area, so be aware of that. The upstairs room doesn’t have heating/aircon so it can get a bit chilly or hot depending on the season. Beds were comfortable but mosquitoes were a problem despite the mosquito net. Lighting could also be better.
The lodge is part of the larger Victoria Falls Safari Lodge compound, and we were able to have meals at VFSL and VFSC on the couple of nights we stayed there. The food is great and the service is also efficient. We didn’t eat at the infamous Boma, despite it being a short walk away. Breakfast was decent, if a bit basic. Staff at breakfast were very friendly.
Free bus shuttles are available to transfer to town and the Vic Falls National Park, and we did utilize this service…the driver was also very friendly. The internet worked well, as well.
The Lokuthala front office staff and housekeeping were also very good and helped with our transfers and pickups.
Overall, it’s a good pit stop before the start of your Africa adventure.

The foundation of our stay in Victoria Falls was built on the accommodation at Lokuthula Lodges and it was a great foundation to choose!
The lodge works well for families and if one lodge is not enough, the adjoining lodge can probably be booked. Note that our bathroom only had a bath/shower combo, which may be difficult for less mobile or flexible guests, but it wasn't as bad as other such combos I've had to use in the past. The stairs leading up to the top room is also quite steep, but the room with the double bed is still easily accessible. The thorough cleaning service - including fresh towels - daily was great. (They also deliver bottles of drinking water when they come to clean, which will save you a lot of money.) The lodges are far enough in between the trees that you can truly rest, yet close enough to the Boma Restaurant on the property and the other lodges that it doesn't feel like you're in danger. Walking on the pathways between all the trees on the way to breakfast is truly relaxing!
The staff deserve a special shout-out: whether at the breakfast service (which we had at the Safari Lodge due to the few guests in the lodges), reception or on the grounds, they were all incredibly friendly and helpful!
Lokuthula Lodges is a great place to stay if you're looking to relax and rewind in nature, yet be close enough that you can easily reach the sights. Highly recommended!

The Lokuthula Lodges are among THE most underrated and undiscovered gems of Vic Falls. Our family enjoyed our maiden stay and will book here in our sleep. Here, the rustic wild effortlessly blends with modern chic. Even more delightful, the three bedroomed lodges are so spacious that we never felt crowded. We were four adults and a preteen kiddo. Kitchen is well stocked, clean linen, all amenities worked. Kids enjoyed swimming. The aircon added a cherry on what was already a fabulous stay. Did I mention the joy of watching a herd of Buffalo from the comfort of VFSL Bar while seeping bespoke beverages? Pack mosquito repellent creams and sprays...because well...their fine mosquito nets can only protect you while in bed, right? Chipo in reservations is precious...so is Beatrice in housekeeping.

A truly great palce to stay, close to Victoria Falls. The rooms are spacious, clean and well presented with aircon &/or fans in all rooms. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need for self catering. The food in the various restaurants is excellent, but the menu lacks local dishes. The Boma dinner & drum show is a must, really entertaining & imense fun. The highlight of the location is the wildlife at the on-site waterhole. We had elephant, buffalo and various antelope. The downside is that the area in general is geared and priced for the US/Japanese market.

A mix if couples and single friends stayed in 2 of the lodges and found them comfortable at 4 pax per lodge. The kitchen had everything we needed for breakfasts then the bar and restaurants provided all we needed for lunch and dinners. Both pool areas offered different experiences and all staff were lovely and incredibly helpful. We saw a range of wildlife from the backdoor of our lodge every morning.
