Bayete is one of several lodges in the residential area of Victoria Falls, about 3 km. from town and the falls. The stylish design, lush garden setting, and friendly staff were welcoming and my room was quite comfortable. The grounds include a round swimming pool (maximum depth 1

Stayed here at the end of a three week self drive camping trip as our little bit of luxury and were not disappointed. Great room, great friendly staff who had helped us book excursions in advance and couldn't do enough to help us during our stay. Had a fantastic stay thank you.

Excellent is the only way to describe this lodge.

We loved the peaceful gardens where the birds are a delight. The rooms are comfortable and decorated in a traditional way which adds to the charm.

The food is excellent and there is a comprehensive choice of wine available.

Hi CookRE Thanks for the wonderful review. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay at Bayete. Our gardening team put in a lot of work to to keep the garden looking so beautiful year round. Has anyone booked to Walk with Lions? If so, could you provide me with the name of the conservation and details of this please? Want to understand if this is legitimate and lions are looked after rather than bred for hunting.
What’s the best way to get to Victoria Falls? Do they provide a map? How long do you recommend staying at the falls?
If you are not on a tour that includes a pickup, the easiest way is a quick $5 cab ride. The guest lodge can help arrange a taxi for you. The falls will take a couple of hours, but it all depends on how long you spend taking pictures. You could go faster or slower. Make sure to bring a poncho! The mist from the falls will get you.

Hi, are there a lot of mosquitoes in the rooms and hotel?
Not at all. The hotel room we had was fully air-conditioned and enclosed and also offered a mosquito net. We didn't experience any bugs whatsoever.

There was some mention about cresole in the room. What is the status of this at present?
"Creosote is the most widely used wood treatment today; both industrially, processed into wood using pressure methods such as "full-cell process" or "empty-cell process", and more commonly applied to wood through brushing. In addition to toxicity to fungi, insects, and marine borers, it serves as a natural water repellant. It is commonly used to preserve and waterproof cross ties, pilings, telephone poles, power line poles, marine pilings, and fence posts. Although suitable for use in preserving the structural timbers of buildings, it is not generally used that way because it is difficult to apply." There is no link between short term exposure to creosote to cancer (an average stay at Bayete ranges between 1 or 2 nights, hardly long-term). And I'm sure the "smell" that may be present in the room may just be the thatch ceiling that some may not be accustomed to. It's always worth checking these things before booking into a lodge as most places in and around Vic Falls are thatched and can trigger symptoms of hay fever. There are 11 rooms at Bayete that are thatched, the remaining 19 rooms have standard roofs with ceilings.

Can you please tell me about the fitness center? How many tread mills? Are there free weights? Thank you!
Hi Ralf Sorry for the belated answer but better later than never! Yes it is basically just a small outdoor gym with a bench press. There are a few extra weights dumbbells, and dead weights. regards Mike
