Travellers' Choice
Imbabala Zambezi Safari Lodge is situated on a riverine fringe of the mighty Zambezi River where Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia and Namibia converge. Located 80 kilometers west of Victoria Falls, access is by transfer from Victoria Falls, Livingstone or Kasane. Imbabala offers the chance to unwind but also some of the most amazing game viewing and bird watching in the region, in the seclusion of a private National Parks concession. The 5,000 acre concession has 14 kilometers of private Zambezi river frontage and borders the Chobe Forest Reserve, which is renowned for its massive elephant population.

We loved our stay at this beautiful place, an hour out of Vic Falls town. The grounds are beautiful, the staff were all fabulous and the wealth of knowledge our guide had was incredible. We loved every minute of our stay.

What a lovely place to visit! Right on the border where four countries meet! The lodge, the staff, the food and the game seen on the game drives, all wonderful! Well worth a visit. Well done Imbabala and thank you!

From the moment you arrive and are greeted by husband and wife team Himal & Irene you are made to feel incredibly welcome, absolutely nothing is too much trouble. This beautiful old style lodge is in a great position over looking the Zambezi, wildlife is plentiful. You are in the Zimbabwe National Park and not surrounded by electric fences so expect anything! I am often amused by comments about insects etc, this is Africa and it comes with, insects, bugs and wild animals (who do not perform on demand!) Our guide for the 3 days was Jefferson, he was fantastic and very knowledgable. Food was just great home cooking and all the staff are lovely. Zimbabwe is not without major issues but Zimbabweans are proud people and make tourists feel really welcome. The camp itself is one of the older ones with no aircon although that wasn't a problem as the thatched lodges are roomy with big ceiling fans. We had a wonderful day in Botswana as Imbabala is literally 10 minutes from the boarder and the Chose National Park. The lodge is owned by Wild Horizons and our package included everything transfers etc and it was all really well organised. In conclusion all I can say is that being looked after by Himal and Irene you wont be disappointed but remember this is wild Africa and no one can guarantee that you see every wild animal! PS the free laundry and ironing service is excellent and you will never be thirsty!

The staff at Imbabala is exceptional. This was my 2nd stay and I felt like I was coming home to good friends. The rooms are spacious, private and afford lovely views. Plus wild comes through the grounds and hippos make an occasional appearance. (But you often hear them "trumpeting" by the river nearby. Their guides are fun, knowledgeable and know where to see wildlife at different times of the year. I learned how to spot identifying characteristics of different skulls and more about the hunting habits of predators and birds of prey. We even had the opportunity to see a couple of fledgling buzzards attempting their first flight. A stay at Imbabala ensures that you are in the very best of hands and will come home with incredible memories of nature and place.
