Detailed Reviews
What a privilege to spend my wife's 40th birthday with our kids and her parents at such a beautiful location. We stayed for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed every moment. We had beautifully decorated inter-leading rooms to connect our kids' room (sleeping 3) with our room. Few hotels these days cater for a family of 5 and this was a breath of fresh air - the rooms are HUGE and very tastefully decorated.
We spent most of our time relaxing, sitting at the waterhole, swimming, sleeping, dining and enjoying each other's company. It was really a perfect break. The food and staff exceeded expectations. A special thank you to Brutus (our main waiter) and Jabulani (the chef), for tweaking meals to always meet and exceed our requests.

If you're visiting Victoria Falls, you probably will choose between Stanley&Livingstone and The Victoria Falls hotel. We stayed at S&L. Here's the deal: S&L is a pretty new hotel. The rooms are large and comfortable. In fact, if the quality of the room is your most important criterion, stop right here and book S&L hands down. The property borders a game preserve, and you're likely to see interesting animals while eating breakfast.
The only problem is that S&L is 15-20 minutes away from the falls and the central business district. Transportation is easily available, but you might want to consider the Vic Falls hotel which is centrally located and withing walking distance from the falls. We had dinner at the Vic Falls. It's a classic old style hotel, and you can imagine the British upper crust there 100 years ago. My guess is that the rooms are small. Considering that we were only in Zimbabwe for two nights, next time I'd probably stay at Vic Falls Hotel but it depends on what's most important to you.

Response from MOREFamilyCollection, General Manager at Stanley & Livingstone Boutique Hotel

Dear 'James B' Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us, as you have really captured the essence of what it is that makes us unique. We are ideal for the guest who enjoys a peaceful retreat (being on a private reserve where the wildlife roams free), but we do appreciate that some prefer the hustle and bustle of being in the hub of activity that is Victoria Falls town. The traditional colonial style of Vic Falls Hotel is completely different to the more modern, contemporary feel of Stanley & Livingstone, which we also fully appreciate will suit those with this particular taste preference. We hope to welcome you back again - if not for a stayover, then for a meal in our restaurant (1871 @ Stanley & Livingstone), a cool beverage on our verandah or a delicious afternoon tea on our lawn. The welcome mat will always be ready for you! With kind regards Alan Bailes General Manager, Stanley & Livingstone Boutique Hotel

Located about 15 minutes from downtown center, this resort is perfect for relaxing close to all the amenities. First class operation, start to finish, boutique hotel with only a limited number of rooms makes you feel like a family and takes extortionately great care of you. The staff is amazing especially, Nathan, mandlenkosi and felix. Zebras and other animals visit us frequently. The best restaurant in town as evidence by several groups traveling here just to dine. A must visit, will be back!

The hotel was nice but we did a lot of activities in Victoria Falls and this hotel was 15 minutes away from everything. Hotel was not as nice and not as well run as Lion Sands. We were not here to go on game drives so maybe people who are would enjoy this hotel more. If I had to go back we would have stayed closer to activities in a nicer hotel. We stopped at 2 other hotels for activities that were much nicer.
We arrive at 3pm and only 1 of 2 rooms was ready despite 2pm check in. The day of checkout we were coming back from Ziplining at 11am and were heading to the airport at 11:45. Asked for late check out and the lady at the front desk said no. I said we can go into 1 room but we will come back sweaty and just spend 5 nights at 2 of their hotels. She said she will see and walked away and never came back. Hours later I called the manager and he said no problem and let us have both rooms for the extra 45 minutes. Not sure why the lady at the front desk had to be so frustrating.
We ate dinner there both nights and the room (even with doors closed) was extremely hot with giant moths flying around dive bombing on guests during their meals. Food was good but service was not that great.
We did have to leave at 7am one morning and breakfast opened at 7am. The waiter has us order the night before and show up at 6:30am and our food was ready - which was super nice.

Adding to the 5 ⭐️ reviews. Everything was exquisite from the moment we arrived we were warmly welcomed- literally with a nice warm towel for our hands & face. Critical after a trip with a toddler. The food was amazing. While the rest of the world has stopped cleaning hotel rooms at S& L they did two cleanings or maybe the other was just evening service. Either way AMAZING. Babysitter was the best, it’s hard to get away from small children but we felt completely reassured that our little one was in good hands. They planned all activities. We were wanting for nothing. The staff was the best. I add that black families shouldn’t shy away from coming here. I know travel can be unkind but you won’t experience any of that here (I hope) we have been very happy, we plan to come back again and again.

I always try to stay in boutique hotels that provide a sense of place, so that you know you’re in a very specific location as different from home as possible, but also with many comforts of home. The Stanley & Livingston in Victoria Falls absolutely met or exceeded all my expectations.
Their staff was warm, attentive, professional, and utterly charming. The sleeping rooms and interior design throughout the property was eye catching, understated elegance, tasteful, comfortable and w/o pretense. And the food was delicious: plated beautifully, healthy, abundant, and paired with excellent wines from South Africa.
But two of the best things about my stay there were (a) the amusing parade of animals just below the lodge, including impala, zebra, baboons, and other wonderful creatures and (b) the exceptional service the front desk provided when booking excursions for me such as a visit to the elephant sanctuary and a trip to The Devil’s Pool.
I highly recommend staying at The Stanley & Livingston, as I did twice, for four nights in total. It will be the only place I’ll want to stay when I return to Vic Falls, as its scenic and quiet location out of town makes you feel like you’re already on safari while only moments away from one of the seven Natural Wonders of the World.

Thanks to maintenance delays on both of our British Airways A380 flights from Los Angeles to Johannesburg, 11 of our party of 15 missed our first day here and so we only had one day before departing for Botswana and the Okavongo Delta. But the staff were very accommodating and managed to make the best of our time there. Our driver/guide Mackson was outstanding! The rooms are spacious, very comfortable, and well-appointed. The staff are super friendly and food is exceptional, accommodating special dietary needs of several in our group. Highly recommended!

This hotel was pretty incredible! We were picked up at the airport, greater with champagne and warm towels upon arrival and activities explained! The suite we had was beautiful decorated, overlooked the watering hole and natural reserve with zebras just passing by, and most importantly clean! A few bugs here and there sneaked their way in but that’s expected! Staff was very attentive and professional. Food was delicious, though only criticism is that it’s slightly under seasoned. Not much to do in the hotel unless you want to just relax by the pool or have a drink, so we did a lot of activities including visiting the falls, bungee jumping, a train dinner and white water rafting all of which the hotel helped organize including pick ups as the hotel is tucked away in the natural park about 29 minutes from Victoria Falls town. Five stars!!! Good for families as well as couples.

Stanly and Livingstone is a fantastic luxurious property offering the best of African wildlife, with easy access to Victoria falls and allied activities.
We stayed there for 2 nights in 2 interconnected rooms (family of 4 with kids aged 12 and 9). Rooms are very spacious either each overlooking the grazing grounds for zebras, nyalas, baboons,
The staff is very courteous and can cater to dietary needs (we are vegetarians). They arrange drop offs to the town whenever needed and also arranged for sunset cruise, helicopter rides when we needed them.
Thanks for a memorable stay.

We are fortunate to get to stay in 5 star properties around the world. We have high expectations. We arrived here after an amazing safari in South Africa. Our entire experience was top notch. As can be seen in pictures, the hotel itself is beautiful and on a private game reserve. Animals come within 20-30 meters of your balcony!
What blew me away was the service and attitude of the staff. They paid attention to all the details and approached our visit with an “anything is possible” attitude. This included helping to confirm and coordinate tours and activities to the timing of the driver taking us into town and picking us up. It was so refreshing and relaxing to have the feeling that we were fully being taken care of - while also not being nickel and dimed for it.
We ate most of our meals at the hotel. The food was delicious and healthy and the menu was appealing.
As others have noted, the property is about 15 minutes away from town. Given how beautiful it was, I didn’t mind at all. But it’s something to consider.
The only downside was the spa option availability. They only had one person on site the days we were there and her availability didn’t match ours.
All in all, this was a highlight of our trip. We had only wished we could’ve stayed there longer. We will most definitely stay there again next time we’re in the area.
