Voted the best Safari Lodge in Zimbabwe for 23 years running, the world-famous Victoria Falls Safari Lodge offers easy access to the iconic Victoria Falls, coupled with a wildlife experience that is truly unrivalled. Now in its 25th year of welcoming guests, the Lodge is built on a plateau overlooking the Zambezi National Park with endless unspoilt views to the horizon, just four kilometers from the Falls. This is the only sunset facing hotel in Victoria Falls, and the newly-renovated rooms and balconies are built up above a central waterhole which attracts herds of buffalo, elephant, giraffe, zebra, as well as night-time predators, such as lion and leopard. Our warm and personable staff are our greatest pride. Past guests frequently comment on our team's sublime hospitality and seamless delivery. The main areas of the lodge, such as the MaKuwa-Kuwa restaurant and the homely Buffalo Bar, are rich in ambience and also overlook the central waterhole, where drinks and dinners are often shared with wildlife meandering down to the water each day to quench their thirst.

Reviews summary

Nestled close to Victoria Falls, the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge is celebrated for its prime location that invites frequent wildlife sightings. Guests have praised the array of amenities, including diverse dining options and a reliable shuttle service. While the rooms provide breathtaking views of untamed wildlife, a few visitors have commented on the decor feeling somewhat dated. Cleanliness is a standout feature, with spotless rooms and well-kept facilities.
The hotel's atmosphere, enriched with African-themed decor, offers a culturally immersive experience. Service is generally lauded for its professionalism, though occasional slow bar service has been noted. Despite the higher price point for services and dining, many find the unique offerings, such as signature cocktails, to add value to their stay.

Detailed Reviews
Our two nights staying at the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge was the start of a 4 week African holiday and was an amazing experience.
We were picked up at the airport by a friendly driver in a air conditioned van for the 20 minute drive to the lodge.
Our welcome by reception and Memory from client services was friendly and helpful and our 2 day stay was planned promptly.
We stayed in room 58 which had a lovely view of the waterhole, it was large and clean with typical safari decor.
There was free wifi, AC, safe and a bar fridge.
The large comfortable bed was a 4 poster with a mosquito net which was put down at the turn down service each night.
The bathroom was a good size with a walk-in rain shower.
There was complimentary toiletries and hairdryer.
The restaurant and the Buffalo Bar had fabulous views of the waterhole which had spot lights on it at night a great spot for a G & T on the deck.
The Boma Drum show was a great night out and included in our tariff as was the wonderful Sunset river cruise a highlight of our stay.
Their vulture show is run at 1pm daily for 15 minutes and is worth a viewing.
Their are 2 sparkling swimming pools also overlooking the waterhole with complimentary beach towels available.
We didn’t use the complimentary shuttle bus to town.
Overall The Safari Lodge was wonderful place to enjoy wildlife and the friendly and efficient hospitality of the staff.

Thank you for making our stay at your lodge a world class experience!Â
Staff: Your staff are just INCREDIBLE with their heartwarming, kind and helpful personalities and mannerisms. To name a few of your team members who helped us: Brian, Hugh, Laverne, Innocent, Dennis, Ntulisi (the chef), Steven (the driver).... there are so many others too who went above and beyond the scope of their work. Thank you and we hope the tips show our appreciation.Â
Food: Our booking agent in SA had not relayed our vegan and vegetarian dietary requirements to the lodge so we were anxious about what we would get at short notice. However, your master chef Ntulisi and the support teams allayed any of our concerns with the preparation of very delicious and nutritious food options (including spicy curry, lentil dhal, steamed veg options, bespoke salads, tortillas, hot veggie breakfasts, etc). It was impressive to see that the chefs were so attentive, cheerful and produced such a high standard of food.Â
Room Facilities: Initially we were placed in a room alongside the main reception which was a little noisy during the early hours and late nights so the staff kindly offered to move us to a quiet room. Again they proved their high standard of customer attentiveness as they did so willingly and with such cheerfulness. The room was well furnished and clean with all that we required to get a comfortable night's sleep (including pillow options). The shower and tub facilities were well-kept and had all the necessary toiletries (hair and bath products, including insect repellents and sanitizers).Â
Lodge facilities: The dining and lounge areas were always immaculate and luxurious. The on-duty staff were always friendly, eager to help and to serve... we were so spoilt during the 3 nights of our stay there and it was purely attributed to the staff's amazing attitude and the luxurious lodge facilities.Â
Location: The lodge is on the outskirts of the main town but the free shuttle was perfect for our travel needs to and from the sights. The lodge offers a free shuttle very few hours to and from certain points in the town and it was very useful to get us back and forth. Steven is the best and most cheerful during his trips driving us on the shuttle.Â
Vulture Experience: This was an informative and interesting experience and I recommend it to everyone staying at your lodge. To get so close to these birds is unforgettable.Â
Â
Wishing you and your staff only success and good fortune!

VFSL is by far one of the most beautiful and serene lodge I have been to. The rooms are exquisite with a view to die for. The staff are friendly though as usual they pay more attention to Caucasian guests.
I enjoyed the elephant viewing, seeing the vultures as well and the warthogs and kudus that roam freely near the rooms.
If you are looking to interact with nature, this is the place to be. Spend every sunset at the viewing deck and you will never be the same. As a conscious traveler I like that the lodge goes to detailed lengths to be eco friendly as well. Having an hourly shuttle into Victoria falls town and the falls themselves is also a wonderful benefit that should remain.
My only critique is that the dinner buffet is quite overpriced and never changes. The dishes are also quite western and no sadza for someone who wants to taste something more local. Their menu is extremely Eurocentric. I stayed there for two weeks and as such you can imagine how bored I got of the menu. I also like the gym even though it is not equipped with weight machines. Cardio machines and dumbbells available though. Other than that would I recommend it to anyone ? Yes. Absolutely.

Hi there! Thank you so much for such a detailed review - we really appreciate you taking the time to write all of your comments down. We're terribly sorry that the menu felt repetitive. We're sure you'll be happy to know that we added sadze and nyama (along with many new dishes) to our menu this year and we hope you'll come back to try them all!

When in Vic Falls recently, we visited this establishment twice in 4 days. Firstly, to see the daily feeding of the vultures at 1 pm which is definitely worth a visit, and secondly, at sunset when the animals come to the waterhole. We were blessed to see the elephants coming in in their numbers (with pups ), followed by two hyenas who came to clean up after the vultures. They delighted us with a MATING display which was obviously an amazing sighting. A warthog also appeared, and stood on top of one of the bones they were after - almost refusing to leave.
Although we did not eat off the menu - we all had a couple of drinks, which were served with complimentary snack platters, and as a group of 16, they brought each couple separate accounts with no trouble. Service was friendly and efficient, but obviously the wild life won the day. Would highly recommend this spot when in the Falls.

Victoria Falls Safari Lodge is truly wonderful!
The accommodations are excellent with private porches facing the bush and a water hole! The staff are helpful and delightful. The food is excellent and presented artistically. The room was adequately appointed and the mosquito net canopy on the bed gives you the safari effect as well as essential protection. The Boma dinner and dancing was delicious and fun. I am an early riser and it meant a lot to able to view the animals from my room. A wonderful experience.

We enjoyed our stay here. The room was clean and decorated nice. My first night of sleep was a bit uncomfortable After I realized in the middle of the night that my toes were touching the bare mattress. The next few nights sleep was much better (the mattress seemed to be totally covered). I like the fact that the hotel provides insect repellent and sunscreen in the bathrooms. I didn’t like the fact that water consumed outside of the room(at dinner or lunch) is not free of charge, however it is the same complimentary filtered water that is left in the guest rooms. The staff all over the hotel was awesome!
We really enjoyed the night at the Boma! Victoria Falls was awesome and our tour guide was awesome! He is the same person that does the daily 1pm Vulture feeding, which was an awesome experience! The Zambezi River cruise was nice and so was the historical bridge tour. The hotel staff did an awesome job ensuring that we made it to our Zambezi River Cruise (The historical bridge tour ran over a bit and we missed our hotel pickup time). I would also recommend the Elephant encounter excursion it was an out-this-world experience. I never imagined ever being able to touch, feed, and take pictures with elephants!

The Hotel portion of the Lodge has excellent five stair accommodations. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and the balconies are large. The restaurant has great food and is reasonably priced, my wife and I had Appetizers, Dinner and a good bottle of Red Wine for $85 USA. There is a free shuttle to and from the Town of Victoria Falls and the Falls. The only negative is that the watering hole has very few animals during rainy periods because the animals have many other water holes to attend——we saw only one elephant (at night in the dark) in 2 days.

We were staying at Lokuthula self catering but we had to get the hourly shuttle toTown, from the Safari Lodge. The driver was very nice and helpful and pointed out the different drop and collection points for the shuttle. On the Tuesday late afternoon, the driver pointed out Zebra (alongside the road to the Lodge) to us, and then on the Wednesday he spotted Buffalo - thank you driver (I never got his name).
Everyone was so friendly and chatted to us whilst we waited for the shuttle, so we became known to them.
Out front of the Lodge is a beautiful Baobab tre. There is a Plaque but it doesn't say how old the tree is.
I discovered that they had a viewing deck to the Park, but I did not see any animals at that time of day. I presume they would come to the watering hole in the early morning. I went at another time and saw a buck and warthog to the side.
We looked at the the Menu and decided to have supper on the Thursday evening.
The Lodge has different kinds of accomodation but we were only about 7 people for supper.
I had already decided what I was going to have (i.e. when we read the Menu - two days before). The pressed Pork Belly was very nice and well presented.
The cheese cake dessert was good too but I should have chosen the Opera cake, i.e. if it looks like the pics on google!.
The Waitron Christopher was very nice and when he presented the Bill, we were given a discount. Every bit helped as we were South Africans, who had to pay in US
Dollars.

We visited the lodge and Victoria Falls to celebrate my birthday. It’s location was ideal for all the activities we had planned - it’s very close to the Helicopter and River Cruise locations and a 15 minute drive to both Victoria Falls and the Lookout Cafe where we had lunch.
The hotel has all the amenities you would expect and the hotel staff are exceedingly friendly and helpful.
We enjoyed some good lunches and cocktails in the hotel bar. Breakfast was excellent with great choices of continental and cooked breakfast.
The hotel has a great view of a water hole - if you are lucky at breakfast you may well see elephants, buffalo, impala and zebra. We also had some great dusk viewings of the same water hole. We also enjoyed the Vulture feeding activity.
Overall a very good experience for us at the lodge - it’s a very relaxed and easy going place which is ideal for a visit to Victoria Falls.

Amazing lodge set in Zimbabwe just a 10-15 mins drive from Victoria Falls. Rooms were very comfy and have a balcony that overlooks the land. The restaurant and common areas are covered but open to the environment so don't forget to bring bug spray when you go to eat dinner. The hotel also overlooks a watering hole that gets the occasional wild animal. Everyday the feed vulture and you can get a close up look at this. Pool and area to sit in the sun is also available. Staff was very friendly and helpful for all our needs.

Hello.
Yes we offer free shuttles to the Falls daily. The Falls are easy to navigate on your own, therefore we would recommend simply visiting them on your own. We would only recommend a guided tour if you are wanting to learn about the history and facts about Victoria Falls. You may book through the hotel on arrival, or via email.
