Voted the best Safari Lodge in Zimbabwe for 23 years running, the world-famous Victoria Falls Safari Lodge offers easy access to the iconic Victoria Falls, coupled with a wildlife experience that is truly unrivalled. Now in its 25th year of welcoming guests, the Lodge is built on a plateau overlooking the Zambezi National Park with endless unspoilt views to the horizon, just four kilometers from the Falls. This is the only sunset facing hotel in Victoria Falls, and the newly-renovated rooms and balconies are built up above a central waterhole which attracts herds of buffalo, elephant, giraffe, zebra, as well as night-time predators, such as lion and leopard. Our warm and personable staff are our greatest pride. Past guests frequently comment on our team's sublime hospitality and seamless delivery. The main areas of the lodge, such as the MaKuwa-Kuwa restaurant and the homely Buffalo Bar, are rich in ambience and also overlook the central waterhole, where drinks and dinners are often shared with wildlife meandering down to the water each day to quench their thirst.

The highlight of this hotel is the view of the watering hole at breakfast, lunch and dinner, and from some rooms/balconies in the lodge. We were fortunate enough to see herds of elephants on various occasions, a giraffe, a herd of buffalo, kudu, impala, warthogs, a hyena and lots of monkeys and baboons - it was like a full time safari. Otherwise, it’s a luxury lodge experience on the outskirts of the town, outstanding service, lots of great activities on offer - organised by the hotel. They kindly delivered a bottle of wine and fruits to the room - knowing it was our honeymoon, which was a lovely touch. Only downside - not loads of vegan options on offer but happy to be flex the menu to suit. If you are vegan, go prepared with some basic ideas and they’ll happily give it a good go. No plant milk at breakfast despite the warning, which was the only disappointment. Matt in the restaurant and Lovejoy on reception provided an amazing, first class service. Thank you!

I had few expectations of this hotel, or spending time in the 'bush'. WHAT a treat to find this first-rate lodge near a waterhole where one could observe the animals while relaxing in such comfort! The Lodge is beautiful and situated amid the sounds and sights of the African bush. Mosquito nets surround the bed at night and one is advised not to walk too far off the grounds at night for safety (I was confronted with an enormous wart hog just outside my door one night). The restaurant offered delicious meals (TRUELY VEGAN observant) and entertainment by roving singers at night. The MOST impressive (to me) element of this Lodge was the SERVICE! From Praise in the dining room who graciously accomodated a VERY early breakfast, to John, who was exceptional in his helping a friend move rooms (she broke her ankle at Victoria Falls) to Brian, the dining room manager who should be commended for his training of the staff - ESPECIALLY Tadewa, a DELIGHTFUL smile at every meal. As one entered the lodge, or walked about, I was greeted BY NAME (perhaps because I was wearing my tour badge most of the time). BRAVO!!!

The hotel siting is stunning with a pub and restaurant and balcony view of a water hole populated with wildlife, even in the bedrooms! There is a safe, friendly and regular transfer to the Victoria Falls, the town and cruises on the Zambezi. We wish we could have stayed much longer, Will we go again? Of course!

What an amazing experience so glad we booked this last minute trip. Every day was a Wow day and the whole experience was magical From the Welcone at the hotel to the Zambezi sunset cruise, a visit to the magnificent Victoria Falls and getting soaked through was all part of it. The highlight was doing the Helicopter ride, being scared of heights and petrified our pilot put me at ease and after a couple of minutes with eyes tightly shut I opened them to the total magnificence of the Falls and only wished Omer had booked longer The hotel was brilliant sitting drinking cocktails whilst watching the animals visit the waterhole, Moses with his Vulture Culture Kitchen and the Bona and Drum show was so much fun we also treated ourselves to a massage which just made the whole experience complete So sad it was a short trip but was filled it with so many highlights would recommend for anyone to make this once in a lifetime visit and stay at this hotel - just magical

Passed by for drinks (crocodile tears is the best drink on the menu in my opinion) and got to see some buffalos at the watering hole. I went back again the next day and had the most amazing and relaxing massage - ask for Prudence. She has magic hands 🔥 And I couldn’t leave without having another crocodile tears 🍹

We spent 2 or 3 days here. The food and drinks were great. My only issue is there is no television at this lodge. This lodge is located in a nature reserve near the falls. The best thing is that each day all day either from the open air restaurant where all meals and drinks are served, you have a direct view of a watering hole. For breakfast I’d see zebra. Lunchtime I’d see Cape Buffaloes and not just one or two, more like 10 or 15. Oh, but in the evening the elephants would come by the dozen. What a sight to sit having food and drink you can see all these beautiful animals in clear view without any struggle. The lodge is elevated so the view is excellent. Everyday at 1:00 pm they feed the vultures. You can go with the guide while he performs this task or you can do as I did and sit on the balcony and watch the whole experience from the elevated balcony. Hundreds of vultures converged on the place in anticipation of the 1:00 pm feed. It was interesting to watch. This place is special. There is netting around the bed and they supply bug spray for the room and cream repellent for your body because mosquitoes can be an issue in Zimbabwe. Fortunately, we didn’t have any issues. This is the only place I’ve stayed in Zimbabwe so I don’t have anyplace to compare it to. But, just for the view alone I’d say DO NOT PASS, GO!

This hotel has a fantastic location, with the bar and restaurant and some of the rooms directly overlooking a permanent waterhole just a couple of hundred yards away. They also face west, for views of the sunset. All rooms overlook the bush. We had one of the rooms overlooking the waterhole. The room itself was clean, and the large bed was comfortable. Good size safe. Mosquitoes could potentially be an issue but the patio door onto the balcony had a mesh door as well as a glass door, and the bed had mosquito nets that were closed by the maid doing the evening turndown service, giving us peace of mind. Food was reasonable, rather than exquisite, and service could be very slow, especially drinks in the bar - Africa time maybe, but waiting 20 minutes one time and half an hour another to be served with a drink when they weren’t even very busy was rather too laid back…. Food and drink also seemed very expensive, considering the hotel was in Zimbabwe - priced like a 4-star hotel in Europe, whereas its rather tired feel would make it only a 3-star, and the wages in Zimbabwe surely are a lot lower than Europe. We took several of the excursions offered by the hotel: a guided tour of the falls - just the two of us with the guide - which was of course what we came to see …and stunning it was too, including the spray falling on us like torrential rain even though we were above the level of the falls! We also took a helicopter ride over the falls to see them from a different viewpoint - the first time either of us had been in a helicopter, but the views instantly overcame any thoughts about being suspended by a flimsy rotor! Well worth doing. And we also did the ‘luxury sunset cruise’ on the Zambesi, above the falls, which was another worthwhile outing: we got to further appreciate the volume of water going over the falls, saw a group of hippos at quite close range, and saw a crocodile. Whilst the sunset itself was hidden by cloud, it cleared shortly after to reveal the post-sunset colours, while the opposite side of the sky gave us a display of dramatic lightning! The ‘luxury’ part of the cruise was an endless included supply of drinks, including a good variety of alcohol, and included a selection of food that was tasty and left us cancelling our dinner reservation after. As most if not all hotels in Victoria Falls will be able to arrange the same or similar excursions, it was the waterhole that made the hotel worthwhile: It was lovely to sit on our balcony or in the bar, or having dinner, watching wildlife, Daily we saw seeing numerous storks, vultures and (fat!) guinea fowl, plus numerous other birds, frequent warthogs and impala, plus occasional other small antelope and kudu, and one evening after sunset three elephants, plus once a crocodile. The Sidulu hide, right beside the waterhole, was a delight, for close views accompanied by a local expert. This is what earned the hotel 4 stars - as a hotel alone I would only have awarded three.

The building is totally in harmony with its surroundings and what you expect of a safari lodge. Three km out of the little town of Victoria Falls the views are only of nature as far as the eye can see. A water hole close by provides incredible viewing of a wide range of wild animals, mainly early morning and at dusk. I saw giraffes, elephants, buffalo etc.,and there is a daily feeding of Vultures and African Maraboe close by. The rooms are beautifully decorated, very comfortable beds and everything which you could possibly need during your stay, with balconies overlooking the waterhole and wild surroundings. The food in the partly open air restaurant was absolutely delicious The Hotel will organise all your sightseeing including having you picked up and brought back and they also organise a shuttle service into Vic.Falls town. The staff were an absolute joy, fluent in English, well presented and very helpful and friendly. They made me feel really at home and I would have gladly stayed an extra week! They had also, very attentively, organized for someone to come and do my PCR test prior to my departure! I look forward to returning.
