This is a gem of a place near the Vic Falls. Like your very own “ Garden of Eden”- peaceful and tranquil except for the birdsong. Our family booked all 4 chalets for three nights. Communication with the team beforehand was responsive. Once arrived we were very well looked after by a team of staff led by Prudence and Lorraine. All staff (chefs, cleaners, maintenance, security) we encountered during our stay friendly. Breakfast every morning was excellent and filling and other meals could also be made on request. Excursions could also be arranged with the team. As located on a private game drive, naturally we chose their own service- somewhat pricey but were able to see rhinos for the first time on a game drive. Thick vegetation and plentiful water meant we didn’t see the “BIG 5” but seeing the rhinos was incredible! Located not far from all the action: the actual Falls themselves, the Boma (a must visit) and the town centre. Shuttle service available until a certain time. Accommodation is within the vicinity of sister hotel Stanley and Livingstone where we had an excellent dinner one of the nights. Some areas of these chalets could do with updating (feedback given to management directly) nonetheless would recommend this accommodation and would return. Most relaxing and wonderful time there and the whole family in agreement on this.

Thank you for your feedback. Ursula's is perfect for booking all the chalets out for a family or friend's gathering and we are so glad you had a wonderful time. The rhino conservation work is extensive at Victoria Falls Private Game Reserve, so your support is invaluable. Hopefully, next time you can tick off the rest of the Big 5. Ursula homestead was the most perfect start to our trip. The minute we set foot into this unique haven we felt relaxed. There are 4 lodges overlooking the Stanley and Livingstone game reserve. We were looked after by a small team of the friendliest most helpful people you could wish to meet. Nothing was too much trouble. The lodges were clean, comfortable and surprisingly had Uk plug sockets. The food was excellent. The ladies looking after us organised our trips, transfers etc and were amazing.
There was a courtesy mini bus to take you wherever you wanted to go in the area and would pick you up too.
We would highly recommend Ursula homestead for anyone visiting Victoria falls with an added bonus of seeing impala, baboons, buffalo and other animals practically on your door step. It’s a fabulous place.

Review for August 2019 not 2023 (wouldn't let me go that far back)

Sorry for the very late review.

This place is simply magical. We stayed for 4 nights in the middle of a 1 month trip around Africa and this was the standout accommodation during this trip for us. Our only regret is we could actually spend a full day there relaxing as we had a busy itinerary around the falls

Ursulas only has 4 lodges so its nice and quiet/remote, yet still close enough to the Victoria falls and also set right on the edge of a watering hole in the game reserve.

We arrived at night coming from the city of Cape town where we were greeted by the main lady who sat us down at our table for two and served an outstanding meal with wine.
I will never forget the moment we sat down with our wine and seeing my partners face when a couple of elephants came for a drink at the watering hole. All you could see was the silhouettes of these animals in the moonlight accompanied with the distant noises of the Bush and the water splashing from their trunks.

I can't remember the lady's name in charge but i wish i could as she was outstanding ensuring we had the best time. The whole staff were top quality tbh from the drivers to the kitchen and cleaners. Nothing was too much trouble. Ursulas offer free rides into town including pick up as well and they were very flexible.

Ursulas also arranged a private tour in the reserve (100% recommended btw) where you are picked up from the lodge and are instantly driving in the reserve.
Here we saw everything we wanted and in our experience we actually got better encounters with the animals than we did when we moved on to the masai mara, Kenya. We even got to see a new baby rhino right up close!
There was also some snacks and drinks in the Bush with our driver which was something special as we were the only guests that day.

Thank you ursulas for an unforgettable experience. I will be taking these memories all the way to the retirement home, I can only hope this place is still around and still the same when we decide to visit again.

We are truly blessed with this incredible location and the warmth and hospitality of the people of Zimbabwe. Milly and Lorraine are our core team at Ursula's and they are true gems. We are so pleased you had such incredible wildlife moments. Do start planning that next visit... If you want to stay in simple, quiet and affordable accommodation overlooking a plain with a waterhole on the edge of the Victoria Falls private game reserve, this is perfect. There are just 4 detached rondavels along with a swimming pool, dining area and lots of seating areas to watch the wildlife. We watched giraffes, antelopes of many varieties, zebras and troops of baboons every day. The wildlife was prolific. They provide a transfer service into Vic Falls and for any activities you book and, will also book everything for you and work out an itinerary which allows time to relax too. Do book enough days to do everything and be able to also enjoy the peace. We were very, very well looked after here. You can also take advantage of the posh lodge adjoining and they will shuttle you there and back. We had a roadblock of elephants one evening meandering along the approach road. The safari vehicles also pick you up straight from Ursula’s for evening game drives which are excellent. We saw game on several reserves and countries in Southern Africa and the rangers and animal variety here were the best. We even saw a leopard and genet, lions and cubs. Ursula’s needs a refurb but will no doubt be swallowed up by Stanley & Livingstone at that point, so book it while you can.

Thank you all for looking after us so well. Sending love x

We had an amazing 3 days at Ursula's Homestead. What a rare gem. With only 4 units, it is intimate and peaceful, and the view is simply stunning. The beautifully kept gardens overlook a water hole and we saw elephant, giraffe, buffalo, zebra, eland, impala, baboon and a variety of birds without going on a single game drive - we only relaxed in the garden and watched the wildlife come to the water hole. Our fellow guests saw lions as well, which we unfortunately missed. The staff is very helpful, friendly and professional and the food is delicious. The complimentary shuttle enabled us to get everywhere we wanted, and it's only 10 km outside the town. I would love to go back to Ursula's - even if the spectacular Victoria falls were not nearby!

We stayed at Ursula's Homestead for 3 nights. While we had multiple day excursions, the stay at this hotel was a delight. The room (#1) was furnished in antiques and have a giant bathroom (the largest of any hotel I have ever stayed in).

The view encompasses two water holes and there is a constant stream on animals. We found that we could stretch breakfast and dinner into two hour leisurely viewings of animals taking turns drinking and grazing nearby.

We were there while most of Europe was still in lockdown, so we had the whole hotel to ourselves. Even if there were other guests, it would still be like having Africa all to yourself.

Ursula's Homestead was one of the best places we have stayed in. It is situated within the national park and we saw zebras, Impala and giraffes throughout the day. It was so praveiand Milly and her team were so friendly and welcoming. The shuttle was great into the falls and back. The meals were really great also
We stayed in Unit 1 which was showing it's age a tad bit was comfortable with everything we needed and was very spacious with a separate shower and bath. Highly recommend a stay here.

We loved everything about our stay at Ursula's. With only four private lodges, the camp is exclusive and peaceful. But it is only a 10-15 minute drive into Victoria Falls and all of its activities. Lorraine was a wonderful host, who truly made our stay special. Her attention to detail and helpful was incredible. She helped us book some last-minute excursions and the staff also went above and beyond to add a special vegetarian dish to the dinner menu for me. Each day we enjoyed a private parade of animals, including elephants and giraffes, along with many baboons and impala. We hope to be back one day!

Milly was very welcoming on our arrival and throughout our stay. Check in was quick and efficient. The entire staff was friendly, accommodating and made us feel at home. The rooms were very comfortable and well appointed. The food, drinks and service were upscale and fantastic. The location is close to Victoria Falls and river activities (ie sunset cruise etc) without being in a crowded area. Everything was absolutely amazing right down to the giraffes and zebras right outside the door!

Stayed here for four nights . I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences I have had on a holiday. Millie, Lorraine and all the staff were so welcoming and made us feel like royalty. Our accommodation was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Millie gave us information and helped to book excursions in the locality. The breakfast was delicious each morning and dinner in the evening was a delight and everything served with a smile. We saw a large array of animals at the watering hole every day. Honestly it was bliss . I’ll miss this place a lot and would have no hesitation recommending it to anyone .
