Tsowa Island is situated in the Zambezi National Park, a 56 000 ha game reserve which is also a renowned birding hot spot of 400 different species and home to lion, elephant, buffalo, giraffe, sable and numerous antelope. Zambezi National Park stretches from the Victoria Falls approximately 50 km upstream. Tsowa Island, 1.5 km long and 400m wide has never been inhabited and is fringed by lush forests. Guests are accommodated in stretch Bedouin style tents with timber frames and sides on wooden decks situated under massive Jackalberry trees, overlooking the Zambezi River. The outside deck area, which is also in the cool forest, has a dining area flowing onto a sunken fire pit which overlooks the river. The main area is linked to the pool area which overlooks the river and is situated in a sunny spot. Easy access to explore Victoria falls on a day excursion.

Most amazing experance, a real Gem tucked away on the Great Zambezi River. Friendly Management and Staff who pamper you from your arrival up until you sadly leave. Excellent food, comfortable beds crisp spotless bedding and comfortable clean rooms. Game viewing sundowner boat ride was the cherry on the cake. Romantic setting and great getaway for all. We recommend adding this to anyone's bucket list. Absolutely loved it.

We cannot say enough about our experience at T'sowa Island. A small resort with excellent accommodations, food, and a caring and attentive staff. Every night there was a fire in the pit on the deck right next to the river. We enjoyed that while watching the sunset and sometimes could see Kudu and baboons on the opposite shore. During the day or evening we would go on game drives or river tour searching for wildlife and were guided by the capable and knowledgeable Vusi. The island is peaceful and beautiful and the buildings are designed to artfully fit into the surrounding wooded areas. We would stay here again and again.

This Island is seriously off the beaten track and I wonder if there are any other places quite like it. Your journey starts with a Game-drive down to the edge of the mighty Zambezi River, where you are met by an open boat and taken across to the Island. You can barely see where your boat will moor against the bank until you come around the corner. Once on the Island, you are taken to the most private and comfortable luxury tent tucked away on stilts with a view of the water flowing in front of you. You are instantly mesmerized by the sound of the water and the peace that envelops you. Once you recover from your daze, you move into the room where you test the bed and pillows - you sink into this blissful haze and your immediate instinct is to take a little nap. You are however intrigued by the bathroom which leads outside to an open shower. You immediately strip off your clothes and turn on the hot water. You stand there out in the open feeling as if you are the only person in the world, your birthday suite exposed to the sky - and yet totally private. Eventually you decide it is time to dine. You put on your evening gear and amble down to the communal area and the open fire crackling away while the stars come out one by one. After mulling over the days events and sipping on your wine you drift across to the dining room where you are served with a seriously tasty meal, well presented by the friendly and efficient staff. Your time on Tsowa is guaranteed to be too short...

Set in the middle of a calm and slow section of the Zambezi River, Tsowa Safari Island is a breathtaking dreamscape for seekers of secrets hidden in savanna woodlands. Going to Tsowa was having a lucky chance to live out the escapism I had been longing for. The camp is elegantly tucked away under the canopy of the indigenous trees and boasted beautiful sunrises, which I was blessed to enjoy from the carefully considered privacy of my tent. The entire camp site has a focus on being sustainable and low waste as coexisting with the natural environment is becoming critically important in order to protect our planet and these fantastic places. Everyone at the camp was incredibly warm and I felt so welcome there. The staff were all masters of their work from expertly prepared meals to intuitive and well informed guides; sharing on even the smallest details of the local ecology which would have otherwise gone unnoticed. My favourite memories there all took place in the evenings. Watching the sunset on the river, campfires glowing with a familiar and homey crackling, and brilliant starry nights all accompanied by the gentle symphony of cicadas, owls and the gentle flow of the river. I am so thankful to everyone who made this trip what it was. All in all, it was an incredible holiday with memories I will remember, not in mind, but in heart. © 2022 Mutsa Malunga.

We had a wonderful stay at Tsowa Island Safari Camp during Christmas holidays 2021. We enjoyed it immensely at so many levels. The camp is so thoughtful build and blend in with the nature, it is beautiful and functional, all doings is an experience. The staff and management where so kind to us and gave us an amazing experience of the nature in the National Park and the river and a good understanding of the history and fight for conservation of the park. They for sure created an atmosphere and unity that made an great impression on us. The food was excellent. The sceneries and multitude of plants, bushes and tall trees in the park is so beautiful, there are lots of birds, and you meet the various animals as you go along either game driving or walking, the river tells its own story and was ever present at our stay. We loved it there and will definitely come back. Kind Regards from Grace & Co,
