There is a big variety of accommodation at the rest camp so take care you book the right option. I am reporting having stayed in a fully self-catering lodge.

Positives : relatively spacious; good shower with very hot water (also a bath); beds comfortable
Negatives : furniture a little mix and match and looks a bit tatty but maybe not as bad as it looks; kettle didn't switch off; minimal cutlery and crockery provided; no hot water in the kitchen sink; no mosquito net (but there was a ceiling fan)

The camp in general is in an excellent location for most of the Vic Falls attractions and activities. It has pleasant surroundings and the grounds include a swimming pool and a restaurant, where the food is good for both breakfast and dinner though the service was a little slow. Wifi (rather erratic) is available at the reception and in the restaurant.

I would also say that the lady we interacted with at the gate was very friendly and helpful.

I might be tempted to give it an extra star. If you asked me if I would stay there again, the answer would certainly be 'yes.'

My friend and I camped here before our Victoria Falls visit. Loved this place in many ways! The bathroom & shower facilities were superb compared to all the other camp sites we stayed at. Two words: WATER PRESSURE! Don't hesitate and enjoy a late night or early morning shower. After a week of camping that blast of hot water is amazing. There is also an awesome sports bar on the site. You can order anything from a grilled cheese sandwich to Ox tail stew. On some nights, local groups will come and perform some tribal dances. One negative is that the camp site is literally in the middle of it all. You will hear trains, buses, nightlife, passers-by etc. Wasn't too distracting but you won't feel like you're camping. One night, an elephant brushed the back of the camp site. Not the safest feeling but the elephant fortunately did not break through the fence. The rest camp is a very short walk from tons of shopping, restaurants & bars. One bit of advice: if you plan on picking up some billion/trillion dollar bills, just remember that EVERYONE sells the and you can get the cheap. DON'T GET HUSTLED! Highly recommend this rest camp! GO GO GO!

I was here for 2 nights in a tent at the start of an Intrepid tour. The camping area was grass and the facilities were good and clean. The on-site bar and restaurant (In-Da-Belly) includes game dishes on the menu – I had impala and it was good. A supermarket and a large bottleshop are a 5 minute walk away in the town centre. The entrance to the Victoria Falls park is not far away.

This place exceeded our expectations.

We stayed 4 nights in a chalet. (We spent our entire stay singing “Everything is beautiful at the chalet”, and you’re welcome for the ear worm musical theater nerds). The room was basic but large with two twin beds. There was a fan and mosquito nets, but we didn’t need to use either at this time of year. There was also a small dresser and a table with two chairs. It isn’t a space for hanging out in, but it served its purpose. There were two sets of bathrooms equidistant from our chalet that had both toilets and showers. The ones nearest the restaurant had two showers with anterooms which were useful so we used those ones. The temperature controls on the showers were temperamental and you’d often go from freezing to scalding and vice versa, but it never did run out of hot water which was good.

There are tents set up for less money, and rooms with bathrooms attached for more. We were happy with our choice.

The location is great right off the main strip. Easy to walk to the Falls. Lots of touts who want to sell you stuff, but they aren’t too pushy once they see you really aren’t interested.

There is wifi, but good luck using it. The signal is strongest around the restaurant, but even there it was often unusable. There was always a sizable group sitting around the pool on their phone with frustrated looks on their faces. Even early in the morning when there weren’t many people it wasn’t much better.

The front desk were very pleasant, though we didn’t interact with them much. But they set up airport transfers for us, and helped arrange a load of laundry with housekeeping. They sell water and snacks but at inflated prices. They did point us to the local “OK” grocery store up the street. Prices there are in the local currency, but when you get to the cashier there is a big sign on the wall to convert it into USD (and a few other currencies). It’s not the best rate and they did not give us change, but it was still a great deal. We got water and snacks, a loaf of bread and peanut butter, all of which helped us save a lot of money since everything in Vic Falls is so comparatively expensive.

We did eat one meal at the “In-da-Belly” restaurant on the property, you can see my separate review. It felt pricey but the food was good and well-presented, and is a good option if you don’t want to walk around town.

One thing to remember about Vic Falls, is that there are wild animals that live here too. The property is surrounded by an electrified fence, which does little to keep the vervet monkeys and baboons out. But one night we were sitting by the pool near the fence and were could hear things moving around in the dark. We followed the fence down a way and were astonished to see a small group of very large elephants wandering by eating the vegetation. It was both a little scary and totally amazing. Walking around town you will most likely see warthogs, water buck, and definitely more baboons, but we were told the big 5 were all in the area.

If we return to Vic Falls I would stay here again. There are much nicer places to stay if you want to spend the money, but we were quite comfortable here, and I would stay here again.

A basic although it has everything that you need for you time in Victoria Falls. Situated near the centre of town, everything is close by and at ease of getting to and from by walking.
The pool is deep and a great swim. The restaurant - In-da-belly is perfect and priced well.

Awful hotel.
Awful hotel. Absolutely not worth for the money. Very old, rooms in a disgusting state, bathroom and kitchen are old and dirty. The lodge is full of cockroaches! They crawl everywhere - on the walls and the floor. The territory of the hotel is very neglected, the tracks are broken. Dirty pool! The water in the pool does not change and is very muddy. Unfortunately, I had paid for 2 nights in advance, believing the positive reviews of this hotel. I would not advise anyone to live in this hotel.

This accommodation is very basic.
The chalets do not have private bathrooms. It is a square room with a bed.
If you want indoor bathroom you must book what they call “lodges) (up to 4 people sleeping). Very basic but also equipped with a small kitchen and a dining table.
The position is very good as you can easily walk to the Vic Falls.

Stayed here for 2 nights. We had a green hut which was filthy and falling apart. The door didn't even shut properly, and the windows were falling apart.
The shower block was disgusting with only one shower working. The toilet doors don't lock.
The only positive is the location to the town.

The cost of accommodation in Vic Falls is expensive. The Vic Falls Rest Camp offered the basic needs for a self catering stay. The cost compared to other venues in Vic Falls is cheaper but rather on the basic side. The chalet we booked was a 2 bedroom with bathroom kitchen and dining area. We had a BBQ outside. The chalet was squeaky clean. Cooking facilities were a small 2 plate oven ( which had to be replaced, and replaced with a brand new unit) a toaster and a kettle. A small undercounter sized fridge which was a challenge and enough plates knives and forks for 4 people. We used paper plates as we were not going to wash dishes 3 times a day.
The beds were fine, linen clean and towels refreshed every day. It was sooo hot the ceiling fans were on permanently whilst we in residence and the extra fans we took with were moved to where we were.. in the kitchen, outside at the BBQ or in the dining room.
We used the dining room chairs outside whilst braaing.
The Wifi was non existent at our chalet no 7 and we had to go the the restaurant or reception to use the SLOWWWWW wifi.
The pool provided a welcome respite from the constant heat. The pool however is not for residents exclusive use as many of the local towns folk and kids would use the pool and occupy all the tables and loungers. Not sure if the management enforces the rules for pool use!
The restaurant In-Da-Belly was well supported and provided the much needed cold beers around the pool. We never ate there as we self catered. Beers here only cost US$2 each where everywhere else charged US$3.
The only thing that really annoyed me was that when we checked out our key deposit of USD$10 was not refunded. I had forgotten about it and the receptionist did not offer it!! I gave my slip to a porter at the airport and told him to go claim it!!

TIP: Remember you key deposit at check out.
TIP: You can take you own drinks to the pool
TIP: Sleep under a wet sheet to stay sort of cool.
TIP: Buy ICE when you see it!!
