My wife and I stayed at Old Drift last week and have to say it was an incredible experience. The camp is very high quality, as one would expect for a Wild Horizons property. What makes this the best camp on the upper Zambezi though is the staff, super attentive, friendly, client focused. Add highly luxurious accommodation with all the bells and whistles one would expect in a five star urban setting and you get the picture. The fact that our tent had an amazing addition, a star bed, where one could sleep out under the stars and hear the Victoria Falls in the distance and the rippling current of the Zambezi, as well as hippos honking made for an unforgettable night. The food was 5 star, a great selection for all three meals that would suit any diner. Being inside the Zambezi National Park with elephant, lion, buffalo, giraffe and many species of antelope and only 30 minutes from Vic Falls town, yet another massive plus. Birding is another huge plus. This would be the perfect starting point or ending point for a safari.

Do yourself a favour and book Old Drift Lodge! Best for Victoria Falls experience! Included in the price is a guided tour of the Falls by one of the Lodge's very knowledgable and experienced staff. Position on the wide Zambezi is beautiful! Warthogs, elephants are regular visitors. The suites are placed apart for maximum privacy and are tastefully furnished. No need to request a specific number as they are all stunning with amazing views! Having the plunge pool was a wonderful extra after a hot game drive. Dont miss the river cruise on the Lodge's private boat! We saw a huge(approximately 45 year old crocodile)and many hippos. The birdlife along the banks was amazing too. Cannot fault the service (happy, well trained and smiling staff)nor the food - excellent. Cannot wait to go back.

My wife and I honeymooned here in January 2020 for 4 nights and loved every minute of the experience.
The rooms are incredible and are complete with all amenities of a luxury hotel. The outdoor shower and tub overlooking the mighty Zambezi river make for a once in a lifetime experience.
The staff are all friendly, helpful, attentive and willing to assist with any ask - large or small.
The chef Amos is a star and every meal was 10/10. He even kindly provided some of his recipes to us to take home!
We chose to stay around the lodge and relax, opting for the sunrise and sunset cruises along the Zambezi on a couple of the days. Both were incredible, taking in the lush surroundings with hippo's all around. Our tour guide Steve was a wealth of information when we visited and hiked Victoria Falls.
Thanks to Brad, Bright, Annie, Farai, Amos, Granger (Danger) and all of the team for making our stay so enjoyable. We look forward to returning with friends and family in the future!

From the moment we arrived everything at the Old Drift was fantastic - food, wine, rooms are all first class, but the fact that every member of the team was so friendly and helpful was what made the stay so special. Plenty on here have said how good the rooms and communal areas are and we totally agree....and yes you really are among the animals - we had a family of of Warthogs living below the room and to sit on the deck watching mother and babies was really special. A beautiful stay and we highly recommend Old Drift Lodge...

Coming for S.A, you always feel the need to travel aboard. With the pandemic we had no choice but to go to a local destination in Southern Africa, what a perfect decision.

The Old Drift Lodge staff made it an amazing experience with great food / awesome service, wonderful rooms and facilities - a perfect location close to everything in Vic Falls

We has some great animal sightings and strange one's too, which was great

I can’t say enough good things about this lodge. The tented suites are beautiful, comfortable and have great amenities. We loved keeping cool in our plunge pool and drinking coffee in the morning with our resident hippo visiting us in the river nearby. The surroundings are spectacular but what makes this place incredible is the staff. Vhusa, our guide was so knowledgeable and loves his job, he tried so hard to ensure we had the best Bush experience and ensured that we saw as many animals as possible. He taught us all so much this weekend. Willard and Ian our waiters as well as David all went out of their way to make our stay special. It was my birthday and the kitchen made an entire cake for me! They did lovely flower displays in our room and even set up a surprise bubble bath experience on my birthday at sunset, complete write a trail of rose petals and lanterns leading to the bath 😍. We were so looked after the entire time and will definitely be coming back. Lesley also went out of his way to create a special breakfast cruise just for us on one of the mornings. They go far and beyond to make sure we enjoyed. I can’t recommend this place enough!

Just checked out today and am already missing the Old Drift Lodge. All the staff (Bright, Steve, Lenny, pressure - don’t know if I spelt that right, JB and everyone else) all went out of their way to ensure you wanted for nothing. The rooms were amazing with everything you can want and more (the cookies are yum and a great touch). The Chef is fabulous and you won’t go hungry at all. In a nutshell I felt very at home, safe and VERY pampered

The location of Old Drift Lodge on the edge of the Zambezi River provides for spectacular sunrises and sunsets. The rooms are very spacious, well decorated and even come with air conditioning. The dinner menu would change daily and would feature two to three choices for starter, main, and dessert. Crocodile, Zambezi river bream, steak, it was all delicious. The management team of Bright, Farai, and Lessley were all welcoming, attentive, and extremely accommodating. The property is situated right in Zambezi National park so animals are everywhere. Our guide Vusa was excellent. He's incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. I never felt rushed because I was taking awhile to get a good picture. He would even join me in trying to get that great picture which I loved. The game drives he took us on were fascinating and something that we'll remember for the rest of our lives. Stay at Old Drift Lodge and get Vusa as your guide. You won't be disappointed!

Our second visit to Old Drift and we were not disappointed. We love the spacious, light and well appointed, beautifully decorated luxurious rooms/tents overlooking the river. Having our plunge pool and the outside bath was definitely a highlight. The chefs were exceptional and very inventive at catering to our dietary requirements (gluten and dairy free). Our guide (Richard) was very knowledgeable and attentive. Having visited in the rainy season, we were still impressed with our game viewing which consisted of giraffe, zebra, elephant, warthog, buffalo, mongoose, kudu, hippo, and beautiful bird-life. Close proximity to Victoria Falls is a bonus but also lovely to be away from the hustle and bustle of the town.

We just found the lunch menu to be quite limited and carb heavy and took a long time to serve. Perhaps some substantial salads and frittatas/vegetable bakes could be a suggestion.

Overall, a wonderful place to spend some quality time with family in such a unique setting!

Its a fairly relaxed atmosphere at dinning. Keep in mind its a nice hotel is all i would say. Never hear the 'blue' thing though, but you are on a river so anything could bite!

We were on safari with Africa Inscribed and took bush flights. I remember it was recommended that we take a bush flight to avoid the long border crossing. We landed on a pretty bare strip which I really wouldn't call an airport.

Check with Old Drift Lodge or your outfitter to be sure. I stayed two nights (would have loved to stay more!). First afternoon, a river cruise & sundowner. Next day Vicoria Falls & impromptu game drive. Last morning, extensive game drive. In between, siestas, lounging in the plunge pool, & stargazing after dinner. All staff helpful in every way.

I suppose it depends how busy the lodge is, but when we were there our group (5 people) had a vehicle to ourselves. You can do a trip in the morning and the afternoon. Your guide will discuss with you what time you would like to go. They also keep in contact with other operators in the area, and often make suggestions on where to go depending on what you would like to see.
